A bloody good idea

doormouse...sounds like you could be a good link person..see what you can find out for us ok?

Joe...does that mean your in?

SJ....i think thats a good idea...but maybe people would like to write rowars a particular theme? i dunno we'll have to see.

Dr F (great to see you btw) you might be right...but we need to see how many people are interested first...

hey..how many short stories do you think is a good/average numver for an anthology?

Okay -- how about an AH Anthology nominations thread you can post the LINK to a story you want to be included (your own or someone else's) in the anthology. Once we've collected all the nominations, I can post poll(s).

I just PM'd Mad Mike asking if he'd be interested seeing as I mentioned his story.

Some author's might already have publishers and might not be able to have their works published with anyone else.

Just a thought.

I can see your point. My concern was that if an open call was put up on the AH for stories to go in an anthology, some writers who aren't as polished would want to be included. I can easily see alot of lurkers and new writers wanting the glory of being published and pushing to get their story in. How would that be dealt with? Would every person who wanted to be in and every story recommended be put in the anthology?

SJ

I guess I didn't make myself clear. The point i was trying to make is that there is no real solution to the issues that you have just brought up.
I was thinking more along the lines of forgetting about the anthology and just have some Lit. authors agree to pool their stories and get them published.

I guess that doesn't address the anthology problem and this post is more of a threadjack than anything.

I am not drubnk ;)

That's a very good point. So maybe if you're going to nominate someone else, you should get their permission first? If people are embarrassed to nominate themselves, maybe there could be a contact person for pm's?
Like I said I'll help wherever. I have some time on my hands.

SJ

Lucky you may well be right..we need someone who is published or knows alot about publishers to guide us as to the standard expected.

I personally think a person should nominate themselves if they want to be included, otherwise we might get lots of nominees noone really knows and surely alot of trust is gonna be involved where any money at all may be involved...

no i think you just made a point similar to mine :) I think we need some kind of quality control somewhere...

We'll have to nominate someone(s) to be the "bankers" -- collect and distribute any income. Create an account somewhere (netbank.com ?) online, etc.

imp...too good suggestions there...illustrators getting involved could be very cool if there is interest :)

And the banker/s will be a necessity I think...so lots and lots of trust involved *L*

Hey, if we pull this together, maybe Laurel & Manu will even give it a mention on the main page. :D

I would love to be involved in this.

I like the Charity idea (but I wouldn't mind money either:))

Okay -- I'm going to create a nominations thread. Might as well get started on that part as we figure out the rest.

I think we should probably come up with a sort of collective name for ourselves, and a unifying theme of some sort. ("Some erotic stories by Some internet Folks" probably aint gonna cut it;))

Also, we should probably consider some sort of 'rules' as to what kind of works we want to include. How long are the stories, are they scenes, fantasies or stories? How 'dirty' do we want the stories, what sort of language do we want (course, flowery or simply candid for example)

It seems like a lot of rules, but I think if we're going to put together a collected work, we need to form an idea of an intended audience. "Something for everybody" is a really *bad* marketing ploy. It means that everybody will probably only find one or two stories in the whole body of work that they like.

If the idea works, several anthologies could result. (This would probably be easiestly accomplished through Publish America as long as everyone knows what to expect from them) We could have a Historical theme or a Lesbian Theme or Pagan Theme or a Chocolate Theme or whatever. We could do them one at a time to see hwo they work or we could do them simultaniously, each breaking off into the group that we are interested in.

I have a few items I would suggest for myself, but not knowing what the theme or general feel of the anthology is supposed to be, I don't really know what would fit and what wouldn't.

I don't believe it happens often but I definitelythink Snp is right here. We need to be specific as you can't please everyone. I don't have any ideas for themes that jump to mind though.

we do need some general ideas about how long stories should be and what kind of feel of langiage we want...

My favorite erotica anthology was really a mixed bag- that' why I liked it. Something for almost every mood. :) The only common denominator was that all the writers were women. Obviously that won't work here. :)

Rob had an interesting idea that the theme for the book be writers sitting around at Abs, and the stories could spin off from there. I don't know how well that would work, but it's a possibility. It would be very difficult to pick one style or genre since the writers here are so diverse.

What if post a thread asking what people look for in a good erotica anthology? Just an idea- if we know what people are looking for when they buy a book like this, we might have an idea of the best direction.

You know what would make an interesting theme? "Sex with Strangers";)

Just a thought.

Others:

Sex Workers
Love Letters
Diary Entries
Tecnology (sp?)
Erotic Spankings
Online Dating
Abduction Fantasies
Tentacle Porn:)

That is an excellent idea.

Should probably ask on the GB for more responses (and a more 'general population' response)

Unless we only want to target our anthology to other writers. (Erotica for Writers?-- I'm not sure if thats a good idea or a crappy one!)

The GB would be better. Except they scare me.

As long as we're careful not to turn it into a loving wives anthology that we get all the writers hate mail. :) I actually think that's a fun idea, EL.
