Grilam the Black

Grilam rolled up his sleeves. "Well, no. But, to get to the haze, we'll have to deal with the monsters that will gather. I've choosen the underground caverns and tunnels for this purpose since the monsters here are weaken and flee at the sight of light. Goblins, cavewights, wyrms, and gorgons are located in the tunnels below. This room is the only way in or out."

He turned, and drew out his wand. Unlike most wands, his was made for the direct usage of the Dark Arts, and was therefore made of glass instead of wood, steel, or bone like other wizard's were. It was a glass rod, thin, and nearly a foot long, and was a light blue color. He motioned the others inside, and once they were in the room, he pointed his wand at the floor. "Descendria!"

The floor of the circular room rotated slowly as it descended, and had made two full rotations by the time they were at the bottom, deep under the Black Tower. Once the group had gotten off the floor, Grilam sent it back up. "Luminya."

He was glowered, casting a light blue light around the cavern they were in. "This way...Come."

Denoitnem:

As we pivot slowly downward, the light above us dims. The wand that Grilam carries glows brightly at his touch and shimmers, as it is made of glass.

I think about my wand, though I keep it holstered. My wand stands over a half-meter tall. Composed of titanium and a carbonate compound, the maker gave me a lifetime guarantee (which is good for one of us wizards).

Hitting the cavern floor, we step off of the lift only to have it retreat back to the ceiling above us.

Grilam informs us that the monsters here are afraid of the light. This pleases me: as everyone knows, I am a master of the element Fyre. Grilam may prefer these dark tunnels, but if push comes to shove, those little critters (even the wyrms) are toast--literally.

I follow Grilam into the envelope of darkness, glad that he has his wand out.

"Come along Sorian. You too, Lord. Nothing to fear, here." I don't mention that the little critters are little, but the wyrms can be quite massive. Oh well, they'll figure it out.

Grilam the Black

Almost at once, the sounds of approach could be heard. Grilam turned his wand to the closest tunnel enterance, where three stone golems appeared.

Two of them were seven feet tall, and made of sandstone, carved and placed together to form a roughly humanoid form. Two saphires served as eyes, with a magic rune carved into their foreheads. Behind them stood an eight foor tall golem made of a black volcanic stone that seemed to absorb and reflect the light at the same time. just above the elbow of the left arm, the stone showed where its first arm had been melted away. A replacement of light-colored limestone replaced it, forming a great contrast in the creatures build. Two rubies were placed where the eyes should be, but the right one had a massive flaw running through it. It stood behind the others with a sense of pride and purpose that dwarfed everyone. It had deep gashes and slashes all across its body, and was devoid of any runes.

Grilam talked in a hushed whisper to the three, and the smaller two replied with a sound of grating rocks from their throats. The third remained silent. After a few moments, the first two left down a different tunnel, and the third started down the first one again. "Come! This way."

Denoitnem:

Holy smokes. Few wizards have such exquisite taste regarding their creations. Never before have I seen a dark wizard with such talent.

Even as a high wizard, I feel as though a child here, tagging behind Grilam as he leads us down one of the tunnels.

Grilam the Black

He followed the massive golems. Golems were Grilam's speciality, and the reason he had turned to the Dark Arts. He wasn't as dark or evil as one would expect a Dark Wizard to be, and had taken up the studies to master the art of golem-making.

And yet, he was nowhere near the masterfull perfect that was leading them down the tunnel towards the haze. Grilam's greatest creation, the only golem he had made that had free will, was the cat he had left in charge upstairs.

The golem that was leading them was the only stone golem with a name, Oynx. Grilam had found him in a sealed off cavern near the lava pools when he had been overseeing the fyrewyrms, ensuring that the didn't kill each other.

Grilam had remade the missing arm to the best of his abilites, but he knew it was nowhere near as good as the origional.

The group walked silently down the tunnel, following the golem as Grilam's wand shed light on the bare stone. "A few more yards, then down a side tunnel, and we'll be there. I suggest you ready yourselves..."

Denoitnem:

Hearing the voice of reason, I pull back my robe. From the scabbard at my waist, I pull my long rod.

My wand is shaped much like a sword, sharpened to a conical point. Indeed, the hilt is capped with a pearl. The titanium shines lightly, even deep in the cave. The carbonate compound, though primarily a reinforcement, is also enchanted.

With a twich of my finger, my magical cap shrinks down to a more suitable cover. Instead of an exaggerated point atop my head, I wear a small cover right out of the tales of Robin Wood--though mine is white.

The ancient glasses on my face run down into the robe flowing behind me. I will not be reading much. My unkempt, stringy white hair pulls back as the air braids it behind me. Likewise, my beard becomes a tight twist--like an inverted unicorn horn--from my chin.

Fire breathes from my eyes and the wand which I carry bursts into flames, though it is not consumed: nor is my arm.

I am ready for business--and just in time, it seems. I hear the golem directly ahead make a commotion.

"En garde!"

Grilam the Black

They ran across the first monster. The tunnel ahead began to glow, and Grilam knew exactly what was happening even before he saw it. A fyrewyrm, twenty feet long, was locked in battle with the golem. Oynx was holding two of four long hooks that protruded from it's end. Four smaller bone-like protrusions were below that, opening and closing around the mouth. The golem was holding its own, and the wyrm had begun to glow with its anger.

Fyrewyrms, which usually stayed within the lava pools, liked heat and fire, and was calling upon its reserves to combat the golems. Oynx pushed forward, and the wyurm shrieked as the golem cleared the side tunnel. Grilam motioned for the others.

"This way! Hurry!"

No sooner had they gone down the tunnel than they ran into a small group of cavewights coming from an adjoining tunnel. They stood almost six feet tall, and had turtle-like shell. Long legs and arms came down to three-clawed hands and rooster like feet, all of which were covered by an armored exoskeleton. The four arms were pulled back in surprise as it turned its head to face an eye towards them. The cavewights head looked like a sharks with goat horns, and large, cat-like eyes.

There were seven of them, in all. The first two turned, and hurried down the hall towards the cavern with the haze, and the others lauched themselves in an attack. Grilam barely managed to raise his wand before he was knocked from his feetby the creature...

Denoitnem:

With the golem occupying the fyrewyrm, we change directions. I am glad that we do not have to fight the wyrm right now. First off, I could not help--no elemental wizard can harm his own element. Besides, it would slow us down.

We change to another tunnel and immediately come across several cavewights. To even the score, a couple of them run away, leaving only five to battle with.

Two of them run at Grilam and I and the other three run toward Sorian and Lord. Although I would like to wish them luck, I am sacked and beside Grilam on the floor. The wight towers over me, holding me there with the threat of his large claw-like hand.

Although I dropped my wand when he hit into me, it is only a few inches from my hand now. As the wight begins to press his hand into my neck, I reach feebly toward the wand, hoping to grab it before I am suffocated.

I whisper, "Lord, Sorian: help." I try to look behind me to see if they are able to, but the tightening grip on my neck keeps me from doing so.

Grilam the Black

He bracked the ends of the wand in his hand, and held it out towards the cavewight. He snarled at the monster, and screamed, "Dio-esna-fralnaria!"

A powerful spell, it slammed a wall of air into the wight, flinging him across the tunnel and into one of the wights attacking the other two.

As the wights hit the wall and fell to the floor, Grilam gripped the wand in one hand. He was the Dark Wizard, he knew the weakness of every creature in or around the Valley of Monsters.

Including the cavewights. "Chromo!"

His wand let out a bright flash of green light, and the creatures scattered, running from the tunnel. The reason cavewights existed underground was their fear of the color green. Grilam didn't know why they were afraid of it, but they were. He looked at the others. "Come! They will soon realized the green is gone and return! We must get to the haze. And please, try not to kill the creatures if possible?"

Glaferin

All the while the quartet were dealing with the evils lying underneath the eart, Glaferin was well on his way to being run mad by all the duties he was stuck with. "I said NO! We do not want to order the shrimp scampi! We wanted Chicken Teriayaki!" I yelled into the phone. All the while considering how stupid people who worked at fast food chineese places must be and where did they get them...

Lord

OOC: Sorry, literotica was down for 2 days for me.......

Lord walks along the wall with the group. They meet another fyreworm, and Lord decides its his turn to fight. He pulls out a 2 foot wooden wand with a horse tail near the end. Easily snapped, but there was an enchantment on it which made it harder. Lord figured he would get a better one as he grew older since he was only 6 yeas old. He thought of the simplest water spell he could

"Dez-oh-la-pe-fall" and instantly a thousand gallons of water fell straight down and landed on the fyrewarms head. The fyrewarm ran away after he was hit with 100 gallons of water.

Grilam the Black

They'd been heading down a dip in the tunnel, so sight it wouldn't be noticed, when Lord used a water spell against a fyrewyrm. The wyrm had escaped, but the wizards were still there.

Grilam turned to Lord, and sighed. Sloshing through the waist deep water muttering to himself, Grilam bustled ahead, wand at the ready, and began to stun the monsters that got in his way.

"Agrevartum!"

OOC:

Yep we all lost literotica priviledges for being too sensual in our descriptions of our long pointy hard rods... nevermind.

PS: In the words of a master, "this is getting to easy, let's kick it up..."

Denoitnem:

I understand why the cave wights ran away. If Grilam would have flashed me, I would have done the same.

Getting to my feet, I follow the rest of the group. As the tunnel starts to dip, I lose sight of the forefront of our column. As we descend, I sense two things. First, I feel warmed by the presence of my element ahead of us in the tunnel. Second, I shudder at the water elemental behind us.

Although I cannot see it, a fyrewyrm stops the group; but, since I am at the tail of the procession, I turn to face the water-loving Leviathan.

Suddenly, the creature luches at me, feints left, and lunges toward my head. The large shark-like teeth narrowly miss my head and I turn to face my enemy. I point my wand at him, but am amazed by the magic that occurs before I can act.

Suddenly, a current rushes into me, knocking me down. I am soaked and I get to my feet, so that the water laps at my knees. (I am higher in the tunnel than you guys) The sudden shock catches my attention, and as I look up, the Leviathan is gone. I know that most creatures retain a small illusionary ability in their own element; but, Leviathans are such masters, they are invisible as long as they are completely in their element--water.

"Guys!" I alert my companions. As I realize the danger, I call out, "Get out of the water!" All spoken while I inch backward up the slope.

I look at my platinum-carbonate wand--soaked. She is useless for now. Then I draw my dagger and begin to ponder the situation.

Just assure, I broadcast my thoughts through the cavern.

"We are besieged by a Leviathan. I am unable to cross this puddle until my wand dries completely." I begin to wipe my wand with my soaking wet robe, but to no avail. "The way I see it, Lord cannot harm this creature: Leviathans are water elementals and water spells cannot harm them. All wizards specialize in one spell and yours, I believe, is water. Unfortunately, you will not be able to move this water until the Leviathan leaves it.

"Grilam, dark spells will do little against a Leviathan as golems and other dark creatures melt in the water--as you well know.

"Sorian, I cannot remember what your element is. Last I can remember is your academy days when you use to say, 'I wanna be an Earth Wizard when I grow up.' I am not sure about now, though." Then, I think that maybe he, or others, were knocked unconscious when the water struck them--as they were and are lower in the tunnel.

Apparenly, the tunnel starts back up or the water would have drained by now.

I shed my wet robe and anxiously wave my wand trying to air dry it. Realizing that I do not even know yet, I query, "Are you guys okay?"

Grilam the Black

He snorted. "First off, not all Dark Arts fail before water, do not assume to teach me my Art! Black Magics face all elementals, and are evenly met. There is no overriding wins or fails. Second, a rock golem could get to you, but I cannot summon them to me, it is too dangerous. And third, we're all fine! Lord here just got carried away."

He turned to look at the begining to the tunnel, where a soft hissing could be heard. A large fyremyrm, which almost completely blocked the tunnel was advancing, the heat thrown from it's body turning the water hot, but not evaporating it. As the water about his waist began to warm considerably, he backed away. He looked at Lord, and leaped at the boy, who looked ready to repeat his spell. "No! You will drown us all!"

He picked the boy up, and started moving backwards. After a few steps, he felt them. There were few pools within the tunnels, and they were shared by many monsters. Grilam struggled against the many claws holding him in place, but to no avail.

He tossed Lord to Sorian. "Run! Water Imps!"

The many small claws were beging to push and pull, trying to topples him forward into the near boiling water. "Run away! Run awa-"

And then, only a small splash explained where he had gone. Held underwater, he could not use an incantation, so quickly put his wand away. He was helpless in the water, and he knew it. He could only hope the others could escape...

"Feuer bitte! Feuer bitte!" I repeat the incantation as my words dry out but fire will not spout from my wand.

"Feuer bitte!" Suddenly, I hear a commotion on the other side of the water. Hopefully, the Leviathan has not overcome them.

I hear Grilam tell me that the others are okay.

"Feuer bitte," sparks fall from the wand. I continue to chant the same two germanic words while waving my wand in the air: hoping to dry it.

"Feuer bitte!" finally sets the tip of my wand aflame. The warmth carries down the rod until it dries.

"Wand des Feuers," a wall of fire dances before me. Using my wand, I direct it forward, against the shallow edge of the water. Hissing and steam ensue, causing my vision to be quite fogged.

"Mensch des Brennens!" No, maybe, "Mensch der Flammen! or Mensch des Feuers! or Mann auf Feuer!"

Slapping myself on the forehead, I exclaim, "Brennens Mann auf Feuer!"

With a wave of my wand, my firewall consumes itself. The water is lower, but not gone. To combat the Leviathan, I will need a creature of Fyre.

With my wand motioning, I call out, "Brennens Mann auf Feuer!"

From the ground, a blaze of Fyre forms into a man's body. Burning, yet unconsumed, it begins to function as an entity to combat the water and its demon.

Lord

OOC: Uh.....? Must i become water just cuz i used one water spell? o_o it was simple ;P neways.....can i be unchosen yet? and what are the elements so far.....so i can pick ;-P

""The way I see it, Lord cannot harm this creature: Leviathans are water elementals and water spells cannot harm them. All wizards specialize in one spell and yours, I believe, is water. Unfortunately, you will not be able to move this water until the Leviathan leaves it."

btw:: must i be so light that i can be tossed across the room?
"He tossed Lord to Sorian. "Run! Water Imps!" "
I hafta be so light? :p

IC: Lord figures, th at there is crap to pay and picks up a dagger and charges into the water. He looks around for the water imps and starts stabbing everywhere. Theres a sudden shock in his brain and he starts bleeding on his arm. He falls unconcious into the middle of the water at the bottom.

Grilam the Black

OOC: If your idea of a 'simple' water spell includes 1000 gallons, then you're a water-based wizard. So sorry. And yes, a six year old can be tossed by a man who lifts large rocks to make golems.

IC:

The water was starting to boil, and Grilam couldn't hold his breath much longer. Too bad the water-based wizard had just done something so stupid.

Ah well, time to die, he supposed...

OOC:

Perhaps a mysterious wizard would help here... any non-regular volunteers? Perfect opening for another character.

So sorry Lord, but like the man said 1000 gallons is quite a few buckets of water.

Don't die Grilam we need you... let's see what we can do.

Sorian, you still out there?

OOC: Don't worry. I don't plan on dying. If no one else interjects soon, Oynx will save me.

By the way, any volunteers for the evil wizard, or shall I try my hand at it?

I watch the fyre elemental walk across the water, dipping his arm into it every so often, fishing for the Leviathan.

Luck have it, a great brawl suddenly begins above the water, as the fyre elemental pulls the Leviathan from below the surface.

The fight between the Leviathan and the Fyre Elemental is indeed spectacular.

OOC: Edited former post.

You're right we have set this modern and I'm abiding by some pretty rigid structures in my brain. My apologies for trying to dictate what should and shouldn't be in this thread.

After coming back from dinner, I took a look at the post, grabbed a straight-pin and deflated my ego a little.

Sorry again to anyone who's read the pre-edited version of my last post... otherwise, ignore and please continue.

Grilam the Black

OOC: Thank you. I'm just very big on magic and such, and your strict and old-fashioned school of magic is particularly hampering. I have edited my rant to comply. Thank you for understanding.

IC:

Oh, he was fading fast. And all those air bubbles weren't from him. The water was becoming unbearably hot, and he could see Lord close by.

The boy should have run, taken off. Grilam was the Dark Wizard. It was he alone who should face these dangers. He managed to fight the Imps enough to push the boy's head above water, and kick him off. The natural bouytancy of his body kept him above the rapidly heating water, and the kick sent him towards Sorian, who would hopefully ruscue the poor child...

ooc: okay fine ill stick with water ;-)
So so far ist

Denitiom - Fire
Grilam - the black? ....evil
Lord - Water

so theres
Earth
Wind
Light
left to master.....

and one more thing........grilam, i meant that in a sarcastic statement :) but now.....i see ur abusing my weight :p

ic: As lord flew across the water, he set his eyes on the fire and water elements fighting. He yelled across "DONT KILL IT! MAYBE I CAN TAME THE WATER ELEMENT" He thought up a taming spell
"Krento-Dez-Eh-Uno-Te-Amo Instead of getting it tamed, it became more harsher, stronger. The fyre element was having trouble fighting it. Lord than landed, at the feet of sorion who didn't catch him :p
