"Well, I know you have treats for Thor, and I am pretty sure that he knows it, too. That big tail of his starts swinging wildly when he sees you. He knows that you have been good to him and he wants you to keep being good to him by giving him more treats. You already have him spoiled and you have only spent one session with him. By the time you are finished working with him, he will be spoiled rotten."

Laura listened to Kevin tell her she was spoiling Thor and by the time he was done with his training he would be spoiled rotten. Looking in his eyes and smiling, “He deserves to be spoiled the good boy that he is, he’s been through a lot, right Thor?” When he heard his name he came over to her and waited for her to pet him, she rubbed behind his ears and told him he deserved to be spoiled.

When Kevin stood up and began clearing the table, Laura started to get up and take her dishes in, but was told to stay at the table and relax, she immediately sat back down and smiled. He stood beside her and gathered her plate and cutlery and walked into the house, while waiting for him to return the thought of spending more time with him made her happy. The thought of going on a real date with him excited her, not to mention a kiss, holding her and maybe with time, something more intimate…but did he feel the same?

About 20 minutes had gone by when Kevin returned to the deck, he had brought another bottle and corkscrew along with him. She was happy to be here with him, she enjoyed his company, wonderful to converse with and incredibly handsome. Laura hoped they could get to know each other better and spend more time together, in social situations, could they go past being friends? She certainly would not mind and would love to find out.

Kevin suggested they move away from the table and sit in the two large adirondack chairs at the end of the patio. The chairs were strategically placed to watch the sunset. Kevin had not sat in them since he moved in. Normally, when he came out to watch the sunset he would just stand on the patio and watch. Now, with someone to watch the sunset with, it was the perfect time to put them to use.

They both sat their wine glasses on the small table between the chairs and sat down facing the sun. The sky was already starting to turn various shades of orange, and pink. It was going to be a great sunset. Kevin was happy to have Dr. Riley to share the sunset with. He picked his wine glass and took a sip. He was thinking that this was the best all-around evening he has had since he moved in, and Dr. Riley was a big reason for that.

Continuing to make small talk, while the sun was setting, Kevin opened the second bottle of wine. He poured some into each of their glasses. "No, I am not trying to get you drunk Dr. Riley. I would never do that to anyone, let alone my beautiful neighbor and my dog's veterinarian. I am just enjoying your company and I am hoping that pouring more wine in your glass will keep you here longer. If you don't want to drink the wine, I understand." He put the bottle down and sat back in his chair as the sun disappeared. "Now, that was a pretty impressive show."

“That would be lovely, let’s go. I also see you placed the chairs perfectly for a spectacular view.” They each sat down in the Adirondack chairs and placed their glasses on the table between them, making small talk and looking out at the beautiful sunset. The sky was ablaze in various shades of oranges and pinks, it almost looked like a fire in the sky. She loved that about being back in a suburb, the sunset in the city was really nothing to look at.

“Wow, you weren’t kidding about your view, this is absolutely stunning view. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen a sunset like this, when I lived in the city I really never saw sunsets like this.” She was happy to be here with Kevin sharing this moment, actually this was probably the most fun she’s had since moving back, Laura had Kevin and Thor to thank for that.

As they sat and talked and watched the sky, Kevin opened another bottle of wine and assured Laura that he was not trying to get her drunk and to her delight he told her he enjoyed her company. “I trust you and the only way I get drunk on wine is if I mix it with other liquors or if I gulp it down.” She smiled as he poured some more wine in her glass, within a few moments the sun had completely disappeared. “Kevin, that was amazing and thank you for inviting us, and yes we’d love to stay longer. Yes it was, it was so beautiful.”

"I am happy you enjoyed the sunset, and I am also happy that you are willing to stay a little longer. I really do enjoy your company Dr. Riley." Kevin smiled at her and leaned over and clinked his glass against hers. "Here is to a new friendship... both for us and our dogs.... Cheers." He took a sip of the wine and looked out at where the last remnants of the sunset were disappearing.

"You know Dr. Riley, this is the first time that I sat out here. With the two chairs next to one another, I just never felt like sitting here. I would just stand and watch the sunset. This evening was perfect, because I had someone to watch the sunset with, and it provided me the opportunity to sit next to someone whose company I enjoy and not just enjoy the sunset, but enjoy the conversation and the company."

Something deep inside Kevin made him feel like he should ask Dr. Riley out on a date, but he was hesitant.... they had only recently met, and she was his dog's doctor. He sat quietly for a few moments. He wondered to himself, "is it really that big of a deal that we haven't known each other that long? Hell, people ask others out on dates when they first meet them." He looked over at Dr. Riley. He took a deep breath. "Would you be offended if I offered to take you out to dinner.... you know, like on a date?" The words no sooner had left his lips than he was beating himself up... "That was real smooth Kevin. She is going to think you are such a loser the way you just asked her out."

"I am happy you enjoyed the sunset, and I am also happy that you are willing to stay a little longer. I really do enjoy your company Dr. Riley." Kevin smiled at her and leaned over and clinked his glass against hers. "Here is to a new friendship... both for us and our dogs.... Cheers."

“I enjoyed it thoroughly, it was absolutely breathtaking, it’s the nicest I’ve seen in a long time. Of course, I’m happy to hear that and I enjoy your company as well.” She felt giddy when he told her how much he enjoys her company, hoping he’d say it first as she didn’t want to make things awkward. Laura was sure the excitement showed on her face, her cheeks aching already from her bright ear to ear grin. “Cheers to a new friendship for us and our dogs.” Taking a sip of wine and watching the last bit of sunlight disappear.

Laura listened to Kevin talk about how he’s never sat in his chairs to watch the sunset before until now, mentioning again how much he’s enjoying her company and had someone to watch with. “Kevin it’s absolutely beautiful out here and I enjoyed sharing this experience with you, I’ll watch with you anytime you want.” She smiled warmly at him as they sat and relaxed, enjoying each other’s company. “I enjoy talking with you too Kevin, you’re easy to talk to and you’re wonderful company.

After a few moments of comfortable silence, Kevin asked her if she’d be offended if he wanted to ask her on a real date…to dinner. Laura could tell he was struggling to get it out, perhaps he was nervous that she would say no. After a moment she looked at him and smiled softly, “Kevin, I’d be delighted to go to dinner with you, that would be wonderful.” No sooner than she’d given him an answer, he sighed with relief.

Kevin was very happy at Dr. Riley's response. He thought that it would be a great time for them together. "The best part of it will be that we won't have any chaperones." He pointed at the two dogs and gave a little chuckle. At that moment, Thor lifted his head and looked up at Kevin. It was almost like he knew that Kevin was talking about him and Peaches.

For the rest of the evening, the two of them sat out on the patio talking about a wide variety of topics and drinking wine. Before he knew it, the second bottle was empty. He was not going to open another bottle. The good doctor would think he was an alcoholic or that he had other intentions. The conversation, however, continued, which showed that they were both enjoying the company and it wasn't just the wine.

As it got late, Dr. Laura indicated that it was time for her to go. Kevin stood up and offered his hand to help her from the chair. "Thank you for an outstanding evening Dr. Riley. I really enjoyed our time together." Kevin and Thor walked Dr. Riley and Peaches through the house; he didn't think it was right to just walk them out through the gate when they entered through the house. They followed Dr. Riley and Peaches out onto the front porch and continued to walk with them. Yes, he was walking Dr. Riley home despite the fact that she lived right across the street. When they got to her house, he smiled at her. "Let me know when you would like to go to dinner and I will make the reservation." He leaned in and kissed her on the cheek, lightly.

Laura could see that Kevin was happy about her agreeing to go out with him, that smile she had become fond of seeing lit up his whole face and went straight to his eyes. She laughed when he mentioned that there will be no chaperones coming with them, meaning Thor and Peaches. “They have become quite fond of each other haven’t they? It’s like they’ve known each other for years.” They both lifted their heads after hearing their names, Laura knelt down to give them both some attention. “Yes, we are talking about you!”

For the rest of the evening they conversed about a variety of topics while sitting on the deck and drinking their wine, next thing she knew they had finished bottle number 2 of wine. It was rare that she drank that much, but she had good company and even better conversation joining her. Laura had sipped her wine so as not to give herself a headache or get tipsy, as that would not be a good impression in front of her attractive neighbor.

“Kevin thank you for a wonderful day and evening, it’s getting late and Peaches and I should be going. I really enjoyed our time together as well.” She smiled when he not only walked her to the door but across the street and right to her door. “Well thank you for the door to door escort, kind sir.” Hmmm, would next Saturday work for you?” When Kevin leaned down and gave her a soft kiss on the cheek, she felt sparks run throughout her, such soft lips he had. “If you and Thor would like to join us for a walk tomorrow, we’d love to have you. Good night Kevin.” Laura smiled at him softly and stood on her toes and returned a kiss on his cheek.

"Next Saturday would be perfect. Thor and I would be able to start our day with you and Peaches and then you and I could end the day together." He smiled after she gave him a kiss on the cheek. "It was a great evening Laura, thank you very much." It was the first time that he called her Laura. He wasn't sure if she would notice. He also wasn't sure if she would be okay with it.

"Well, you have my number. Call or text me when you are going for your walk. The only thing I have going on tomorrow is church at 8 am, after that I have nothing planned. Sunday's are usually pretty quiet because my boss is very religious, so, he usually leaves me alone." He turned and headed home; looking over his shoulder as he went. When he got back to the house, he washed the wine glasses, did a final wipe down of the counters and headed upstairs.

After taking a quick shower, Kevin got into bed. Thor stood next to the bed staring at him. "You want to come up, don't you buddy? Sorry, but you know the rules. That is why you have that giant bed right beside me." It was as if Thor understood what he said and lied down on his large bed. Kevin reached over and rubbed between his ears. While he was doing that, Kevin's thoughts went to Dr. Riley. He wondered if he was moving too fast by asking her out on a date. Maybe he should have just let them be neighbors for a while longer. He couldn't help it though. She was so attractive, and, dare he say it, so sexy. He drifted off to sleep with her on his mind, which led to her being in his dream.

"Next Saturday would be perfect. Thor and I would be able to start our day with you and Peaches and then you and I could end the day together." He smiled after she gave him a kiss on the cheek. "It was a great evening Laura, thank you very much."

“Wonderful, sounds like a plan. I’ll make coffee and the 4 of us can begin the day with our walk. I couldn’t agree more, it was a perfect evening.” When he called her Laura, she gave him a big smile showing him she was happy he addressed her by her first name. After wishing him a good night, her and Peaches walked onto the porch and into the house. “What do you think, Peaches. Kevin seems like a great man, he’s intelligent, kind, laid back, easy to talk to and to top it off, he’s incredibly attractive.” Laura took Peaches leash off and felt a big smile spread across her face, she couldn’t contain the excitement she was feeling.

Her and Kevin agreed on 11am to go on their walk, they were both going to church in the morning. She hadn’t even thought to ask which one he attended, although the thought of her asking may have been awkward. Laura sprinted up the stairs to go shower, after bringing the water to temperature, she peeled her clothes off and stepped into the shower and let the hot water fall down on her body. Her thoughts went to Kevin, the few times they’ve spent together already, she could tell that he took very good care of himself, he was in great shape. “Snap out of it Laura, you’re just going out on a date and you’re still getting to know him.”

After climbing into bed and Peaches crawling into her bed, she fell asleep quickly. Soon after, she fell into a deep sleep with a dream that featured her handsome neighbor.

While attending church the next morning, Kevin was surprised to look over and see Laura sitting across and a few rows in front of him. They had never discussed church. Kevin had simply mentioned it when Laura had asked about walking the dogs together today. After the service was over, Kevin waited outside for Dr. Riley. "Good morning, it is a surprise to see you here."

They chatted briefly. After saying their goodbyes, Kevin got into his car and drove to the Coffee Corner. He went inside and ordered two large coffees and several pastries. After thanking the nice woman behind the counter, He drove home. Before going inside, he took a cup of coffee and the pastries over to Dr. Riley's house. He knocked on the door and handed her a cup when she answered. "I didn't know how you took your coffee, so, it is just black. Of course, I made the assumption that you drank coffee. I am sorry if you don't."

"I am not going to keep you from your normal routine. I just wanted to drop these off. I will see you at 11 to walk the dogs. Hopefully, we won't encounter any issues with Thor during our walk and it will be a nice, leisurely walk."

Laura’s parents asked her earlier in the week if she wanted to ride with them to church on Sunday, she hadn’t been back to church since moving back to town and thought it would be nice to go with her parents, her father was a surgeon at Hillside Memorial hospital and her mother was a principal at Hillside Elementary. Her parents picked her up at 7:30 for an 8am service, the church was just across town so they were there in a matter of minutes.

The Riley’s sat closer to the front but off to the side, it was a full house this morning. She wondered if Kevin was a member of this church, as there was another church in town, much smaller than this one. After the service was over and she stood talking with her parents, she felt a tap on her shoulder and to her surprise it was Kevin. “Well good morning to you also. My parents have been members of this church for many years and I used to attend before I moved to the city.”

Laura and Kevin chatted briefly before walking out to the parking lot to go home, once her parents dropped her off she changed out of her church clothes and changed into a pair of baby blue yoga pants and a matching hoodie. She contemplated making a pot of coffee but poured herself a glass of orange juice instead and did some things around the house until she heard a knock at the door, it was Kevin with coffee and pastries. “Oh my, this is incredibly sweet of you. Of course, I love coffee and I was actually thinking of making some not to long before you arrived.”

“I take my coffee with agave nectar, it’s a natural sweetener and no cream…you know, just in case you needed to know that little fact about me. These pastries look delicious…would you like to join me?”

Kevin was amazed at how good Dr. Riley looked in her yoga pants. They definitely showed off her assets. "I don't want to impose Dr. Riley. I know we are going for a walk in a little while. I stopped to get coffee and I just thought I would get a cup for you, too since I was there. Oh, and by the way, there is a doggie treat inside a small bag with the pastries. Thor will get his when we get home."

When Dr. Riley insisted that he join her for the coffee, he followed her into the house. His eyes moved over her body from behind. He couldn't believe just how good those yoga pants showed off her perfect curves. Following her into the kitchen, Kevin stood against the counter while Laura put agave nectar into her coffee. "Very rarely do I buy coffee, I usually just make it myself, but this morning I figured it would save me a few minutes getting ready to walk the dogs with you."

They stood talking for a few minutes, each of them drinking their coffee. "I don't want to keep you from whatever you are doing. I just wanted to drop the coffee off. I will see you and Peaches shortly for our walk." Dr. Riley followed him to the door and he jumped in his car and drove across the street. His mind was on Laura and her wonderful curves and how he would love to get his hands on her amazing ass. He knew he shouldn't be thinking like that about her, but he couldn't help himself.

“Well thank you, that was very thoughtful of you to bring me a coffee and these delicious pastries. You brought treats for Peaches too? I don’t know what to say besides….thank you!” Laura though to herself that was probably the nicest thing anyone has ever done for her and she was touched by his sweet gesture.

Laura took the coffee and bag of pastries into the kitchen with Kevin following close behind her. They talked for a bit until Kevin said he would meet her at 11. “No, I rarely buy coffee either. It’s usually when I want to treat myself or bring some in for the office staff.” She kept catching him glance at her and looking away, something told her he was interested but wanted to take it slow, if that was the case they were definitely on the same page.

“I appreciate you dropping the coffee and treats off, that was incredibly kind of you, and yes I’ll see you shortly for our walk.” Laura walked Kevin to the door and kissed him on the cheek before he stepped out the door. Her mind drifted to thoughts of kissing, touching him, him touching her but she quickly put them out of her mind. “Stop it Laura, he’s your client and neighbor, besides he’s probably not having thoughts of you like that.”

Kevin was a little surprised by the kiss on the cheek from Laura, but he wasn't upset or disappointed that she did it. He actually thought of turning his head and capturing her lips with his, but thought that would be inappropriate; if she wanted a kiss on the lips, she would have given it to him instead of kissing his cheek. As she leaned in to kiss his cheek, Kevin could feel her wonderful body press lightly to his, and an image of Laura and her naked body pressing to his flashed through Kevin's mind. He took a deep breath as he made sure that he did not spill any coffee on either of them.

The thoughts he was having about Dr. Riley were becoming increasingly more personal and intimate. Many of his thoughts did not revolve around her as his dog's veterinarian, but about her as a very close, personal friend.... and dare he think it... lover. "Yes, Dr. Riley, I will see you soon. I am okay with whatever length of walk you want to take. I will follow your lead."

As he got changed for their walk, putting on a pair of gym shorts and a form-fitting t-shirt, Kevin was once again thinking of Dr. Riley. His thoughts were on how amazing her ass looked in the baby blue yoga pants. As he finished dressing, Kevin realized that the thought of her perfect peach in those yoga pants had him aroused. "Damn it Kevin, you can't go for a walk with her in gym shorts, especially if you end up walking behind her." He decided to change the shorts he was wearing to a pair of khaki shorts that might hide anything that might pop up during their walk.

A couple minutes before 11, Kevin hooked up Thor with his collar and leash and headed out of the house. He walked over and stood on the sidewalk outside of Dr. Riley's house with Thor sitting right by his side and waited for Dr. Riley and Peaches to join them.

Thoughts of Kevin danced through Laura’s mind as she waited for him to arrive for their walk with Thor, many of them growing more intimate than the last. She had come to think of Kevin as a close friend and at times she wondered what it would be like if they became lovers. When Laura had kissed Kevin on the cheek, she had heard him take a deep breath…perhaps he was afraid of accidentally spilling his coffee. She was pretty sure he was attracted to her but was not quite sure, but wondered if he could sense her attraction to him.

They agreed to play it by ear for the length of their walk, they were both hopeful for another successful day since Thor did so well on his last walk. She grinned when thinking of what Kevin had said…”I will follow your lead, Dr Riley.” Oh she was sure he would follow her lead, but it had nothing to do about the length of their walk. Laura was confident yet humble, their were times where could not see her true beauty but for the most part she was happy with how she looked.

Before too long it was just before 11, she grabbed Peaches leash and harness and got her ready to go, she was more than ready and nearly dragged Laura out the door. Kevin and Thor were patiently waiting until Thor spotted them and gave a happy bark. Laura’s eyes grazed over Kevin’s wonderful body and thought how great he looked. “You look nice, that color shirt on you looks great.” She gave him a big smile as they began their walk.

"Thank you Dr. Riley. You are looking quite nice yourself." He smiled at her and then began to walk beside her as their dogs both took the lead. His mind wandered as they walked and he had to make sure that nothing that he was thinking came out of his mouth because he was thinking about how beautiful and sexy his neighbor was and he didn't want to say anything that would damage their blossoming friendship.

Kevin had a feeling that their was a mutual attraction between the two of them, but he was not going to take any chances. He was going to take it slow and follow the doctor's lead. If she had any interest in moving things in that direction then he would definitely be receptive to that. Thor was moving very well with no issues. It seemed that Peaches was a good influence on him.

"What do you think about trying the park? I know it is still pretty early in his treatment with you, but would it be worth it to see how he would do around people and other dogs?" Once again, he was going to let Dr. Riley make the decisions. In this case, it was her area of expertise. He looked from Thor to Dr. Riley as he waited for her response. It seemed that she was uncertain, but he waited to see what she had to say.

“Well thank you Mr Jones.” Laura knew Kevin would bust on her about that, but in all fairness she had told him to call her Laura instead of Dr Riley outside the office. She tried to hide the smile forming across her lips when he gave her a look about calling him Mr Jones. Peaches and Thor led the way, Laura’s mind was filled with thoughts about her attractive neighbor but she tried to push them aside for the moment as she didn’t want to mess things up.

Laura was old fashioned when it came to getting to know a man, but she had never really asked a man out, for her it had always been the man asking her. She was incredibly attracted to Kevin, not just in a sexual way either, everything about him attracted her to him. He was intelligent, he was kind, respectful and so much more. Would he be open to getting involved with her if they had chemistry, she certainly hoped so as she had a feeling he was attracted to her but not entirely sure. She noticed how well Thor was doing, it seemed whenever Peaches was around he was at ease.

When they were about to pass the park, Laura read the area to see if she could spot any threats, looking down at Thor there were no obvious signs of fear or anxiety. “Kevin, look at him, there is no fear present, he’s completely relaxed. I don’t believe the park will present any problem today.” They found a quiet bench under a big tree, when they sat down the dogs laid at their feet as their owners sat and enjoyed each other’s company.

"Okay Smartass," Kevin joked, "I get your message, I think. Dr. Riley in the office and Laura outside of the office." When he called her a smartass, the words perfect ass also ran through his mind, but, of course, he did not say that. Would there come a time when he told Laura that she had a perfect ass? Only time would tell about that.

When Laura, in her position as Thor's Doctor/Therapist said that she believed that it would be okay to take Thor to the park, Kevin nodded his agreement. "You are the boss, so, let's give it a try." They walked around in the park a little before finding the bench to sit on. It was a beautiful Sunday, and there were a lot of people, many with their dogs, out in the park already this morning.

Kevin enjoyed sitting with Laura and talking while the dogs just relaxed at their feet. He was, however, a little anxious as a woman approached along the path with her little dog on a retractable leash. The dog was way out in front of her, and just as Kevin saw it so did Thor. Kevin gripped the leash tightly as Thor sat up. Kevin stood up next to Thor to make sure he could control him. Thor's movement, and his low growl caught the woman's attention, and she pulled her dog in closer. Thor stayed focused on the little dog until they were out of sight. Then, he looked up at Kevin. It was like he was asking if he did okay. Kevin rubbed between Thor's ears. "Yes, you were a good boy. You are getting back to the way you were thanks to your wonderful doctor."

Kevin sat back down next to Laura. "He was always the protective one, and that was a little more aggressive than he used to be, but it was so much better than before you started working with him. I think some of his anxiety may have come from my reaction to seeing the dog so far in front of its owner. I think Thor sensed it and reacted to it. I need to truest him and trust my attractive veterinarian that things are getting better." He said it. It wasn't his intention to call her attractive, because he was afraid of how it would impact their new friendship, but there was no way to undo it. It was out there now.

"Okay Smartass," Kevin joked, "I get your message, I think. Dr. Riley in the office and Laura outside of the office."

Laura laughed when Kevin called her a smartass and told her he gets the protocol for calling her Laura outside the office. This was the first time she’d seen his sense of humor, another thing she could add to the list she enjoyed about him. “Don’t let it happen again Mr Jones.” She glanced at him with a smile and wink as they continued to walk.

Not long after they sat down, a woman was walking with her dog on a retractable leash, it looked to be a poodle so it was a small dog. It was walking way ahead of its owner and she could see Kevin get up and grip Thor’s leash tighter. A low growl was forming from Thor but she could tell he didn’t appear to be threatened, more like being protective of Kevin. The owner and her dog turned down the path without a problem or anymore anxiety from Thor.

She could see that Kevin looked anxious as well as relieved after the woman was out of earshot, placing the palm of her hand on his shoulder, she asked, “Are you okay?” Thor did so well, he sensed your panic and that’s where the growl came from, he backed down when he saw there was nothing to fear.” When a soft smile of relief come over his face, she could see how proud and relieved he was, reaching for treat for both him and Peaches and giving them both praise. “Good boy, Thor, such a good job.” Laura reached down and rubbed behind his ears as he sat there happily.

“This makes me so happy the progress he is making, he’s already come so far from the first day I saw him in the park. Dogs are very much like people that are empaths, they pick up on what we are feeling and sometimes absorb it, if we feel fear they will pickup on it and go into protective mode.” When Kevin said he needed to trust Thor and his attractive veterinarian, she could feel her face flush and her smile spread from ear to ear, he verily what she had hoped he thought. She had been almost positive but not entirely sure he was attracted to her and now she knew. “Well I would never steer my attractive client with his wonderful dog wrong, I think he’s doing wonderfully.”

“Don’t let it happen again Mr Jones.”

"Hey, you are already violating our agreement. The Mr. Jones is reserved for in your office and during professional interactions." He gave her a serious look, but quickly cracked a smile to make sure that Laura knew that he was just kidding.

Kevin was very happy with the way that Thor had reacted. He truly blamed himself for Thor having the reaction that he did. "I know better than that. I know that he will sense my nervousness and feed off of it. I need to trust that the Thor that I knew before the divorce is here with me now and that you can bring it out of him. He knows how to sense whether another dog or a person is a threat, and I need to let him be him and trust that you are bringing the real Thor back to me."

“Well I would never steer my attractive client with his wonderful dog wrong, I think he’s doing wonderfully.”

"Oh, so if you did not think that I was attractive, there is a chance that you would steer me wrong, is that what you are saying?" Kevin laughed as he said it, but he had to admit that he was happy that she thought he was attractive. This acknowledged that there was a physical connection between the two of them. It had already been established that there was a mental connection between them, and they seemed to be socially compatible as well. Would anything happen between them? That remained to be seen. Perhaps their dinner date would provide more insight.

"Why don't we walk for a little while. After all, we didn't come to sit in the park. We came out to walk the dogs and give them some exercise. Also, we can get some exercise from it to." He looked over at Laura. "No, I am not saying you need the exercise, don't even think that." He laughed again. "I am just saying that we both would enjoy walking through the park instead of sitting here.... although I am enjoying the company no matter where we are."

Laura could not help but laugh when Kevin looked at her all serious and then cracked a big smile when he told her that she was already breaking the agreement in calling him Mr Jones outside the office, she loved that he had a good sense of humor as that was not something her last relationship had. Something told her that they were going to get along great.

She turned towards him as he began to blame himself about Thor’s behavior towards the dog, she sat there allowing him to talk as she listened to him, once he was finished she spoke. “Kevin please don’t beat yourself up about this, this is still in the beginning stages and it’s normal to be nervous because of what he’s been through. Yes he picks up on your energy but he did a fabulous job once he saw that little guy was no threat to you or him. Just trust him and have patience with him and before you know it, that anxiety you feel will all melt away and the old Thor will be right there next to you.”

Looking deep into Kevin’s eyes and giving him a soft smile, “No silly, I would never steer you wrong at all, not my style. Kevin I find you attractive as a whole, that would be quite shallow of me if I was just attracted to your looks, but seriously no I’d never steer you wrong about anything.” She smiled at him to let him know she genuinely meant it. “Now why don’t we get off our asses and walk with our chaperones on this beautiful day.” Kevin laughed and told her he liked her style as the 4 of them started walking again.

There was definitely both a mental and physical connection between the two of them, would it grow to intimacy at some point? Laura certainly hoped so, she had no doubt there would be amazing chemistry and she was pretty sure Kevin thought the same. Giving him a serious look when he mentioned something about exercise, then quickly adding that she definitely did not need it, she felt a smile crack over her lips, “That seriously was the nicest thing anyone has ever said to me, and just so you know… I’d enjoy your company too, no matter where we were.”

As they walked through the park, Kevin was very aware of people and other dogs that were there. He tried to relax, because he knew that Thor would sense his anxiety. This was something that Kevin was struggling with because he never had to deal with this before. Prior to the divorce, Thor didn't have any issues around people or other dogs. The only time the hair would stand up on Thor's back was when he perceived a threat. There were a couple of times that Thor tensed up a little as they walked, but he was definitely better than before. Kevin started to relax, and it seemed that Thor did also.

"Yes Dr. Riley, I know that some of his tension is a result of my anxiety. I'm working on it. He is doing so much better already." Laura had not said anything, but he was pretty sure that she was thinking it. She probably didn't say anything because she did not want to upset him. "If he continues to make progress like this, he will be able to go on runs with me again. It is amazing how much you have done for him. Thank you so much."

Kevin looked over at Laura and smiled. As she returned his smile, Kevin thought about just how beautiful she was. In that moment, he wanted to stop and give her a long, deep, passionate kiss, but he knew that wouldn't happen. He was not going to risk a budding friendship by doing something that may not be welcome. He would wait until he was certain. He needed to make sure that Laura was interested in having his lips on hers before he took that step.

As they made their way back home, Thor walked comfortably next to Peaches. Kevin and Laura made small talk. As they neared their houses, Kevin walked Laura to her house first. "Thank you so much for inviting me to join you on the walk this morning. I really appreciate it and I thoroughly enjoyed it along with enjoying your company." He almost asked her to join him for dinner again, but was afraid that he might be pushing things too much. "I hope you enjoy the rest of your Sunday Laura."

Laura had always picked up people’s emotions easily, right now she could practically feel Kevin’s anxiety radiating. Without thinking she reached for his hand and gave it a light squeeze as if to tell him it will be okay and it will get better. “Hey, be patient with yourself and with Thor, it is normal to feel the way you’re feeling. The 2 of you are a team so when he does well, praise him, when he’s having a moment pull him close to you and get down to his level and pet him or rub his ears, when he sees that you’re loving up on him, he’ll see your relaxation.”

“Kevin, Thor is doing exceptionally well with this. It’s good he’s on guard but there was no aggression from him at all.” When she saw Kevin smile and begin to relax, she felt him squeeze her hand in return as they continued walking. It felt wonderful holding his hand as she’d never really been with a man who enjoyed holding her hand, they’d thought it would make them less of a man if they were seen holding hands. Part of her wished he’d pull her close to him and kissed her passionately, but she knew that if it were to happen he seemed like the type to wait until the right time.

“Absolutely, with time and patience Thor will be back to running with you in no time. I love working with him, he’s my favorite patient, shhh don’t tell him.” Laura smiled at Kevin and he returned it right back at her, she nearly melted every time he smiled at her. “So I should ask you, how should I dress for our date on Saturday, little black dress, skirt and a blouse?” When they arrived at her house he thanked her for inviting him and Thor to join her and Peaches. “You and Thor have an open invitation to join us anytime.” Peaches barked happily at Kevin and Thor as they stood on the sidewalk. Laura felt as if Kevin wanted to ask her something but she brushed it aside as overthinking.

When Laura asked Kevin what she should wear on their date on Saturday, it sent his mind racing. He looked at her and first imagined her in a little back dress. That image was incredible. Then, imagining Laura in a blouse and skirt was just as arousing. "Well, I think that is a decision for you to make Laura. I think that you should pick the outfit, and surprise me. I have no doubt that you will look amazing no matter what you wear."

After saying goodbye to Laura, Thor and Kevin walked across the street and into their house. He thought about how enjoyable his time with Laura had been. He hadn't felt this good about a woman in a long time... if ever. She was so easy to be around. Laura was easy to talk to. She was calm, and relaxed , which Kevin found to be comforting. All of that was on top of the fact that she was beautiful and incredibly sexy.

He knew it was going to be a long week. He was really looking forward to the date with Laura. Unfortunately, work had him extremely busy. His boss had another merger that he wanted to move forward on, but he wouldn't do anything until Kevin gave his blessing on it. That meant that Kevin was working 16-18 hours each day. When he had free time, he walked Thor, because Kevin wanted to make sure that things continued to progress with him. Unfortunately, they did not have opportunities to walk with Peaches and Laura.

On Friday, he texted Laura, "Hey Dr. Riley, are we still on for Thor's session for tomorrow. I am sorry we haven't been able to meet up to walk this week. Work has been crazy." Kevin hoped that Laura was not upset that they hadn't been together for their walks, and that she would still work with Thor tomorrow. It would also give him an opportunity to spend a little time with her before their date tomorrow night.

"Well, I think that is a decision for you to make Laura. I think that you should pick the outfit, and surprise me. I have no doubt that you will look amazing no matter what you wear."

“I’m only asking because I don’t want to be over or underdressed is all, for instance if you’re wearing a suit, a little black dress would be appropriate, if you’re wearing a dress shirt and a pair of khakis, that would lead me to believe I should wear a nice skirt and blouse. I just want to dress accordingly to wherever you’re taking me. Well, Kevin that’s sweet of you to say, I wish I went out more because I have a closet full of dress clothes that are just collecting dust, most of what I wear these days are scrubs and yoga pants.”

After parting ways, Laura took Peaches inside and fed her, looking through the fridge she decided to just make herself a salad with some leftover grilled chicken she had. Sitting down at her table she just picked at her salad with thoughts of Kevin dancing through her head, she couldn’t get her mind off of him. She imagined him pulling her into his lap and kissing her deeply, holding her close…it was the kind of kiss that made her tingle and her knees weak. Perhaps someday he would kiss her like that.

The week dragged slowly, but work had been insanely busy and draining, she was looking forward to Saturday to her session with Thor and her date with Kevin Saturday night. He hadn’t been in touch but she knew work was keeping him busy, no sooner than she was thinking about it her phone buzzed with Kevin leaving a voice messages confirming Saturday. Dialing his number, she didn’t expect him to answer but he picked up on the second ring. “Hey Kevin, yes we are on for Saturday morning for Thor’s session, if you’d like to meet me at my place for coffee before say 8am? Perfect, I will see you then.” It’s okay, I completely understand, work has been crazy here this week, looking forward to the weekend. Okay, see you soon.”
