I love lupine.

When I was a child, I would go morel hunting in the spring. As soon as the violets bloomed, but before the Jack in the pulpits. Violets are the same blue as lupine.

I love them too.
I have tried to grow them in my yard, but the slugs devour them...

You can pick wild violets and put them in your salad. High in vitamin c. Slugs know good things.

indeed I have done that - they have a peppery flavor I think.

it is lupines that the slugs devour in my yard

Same solution as for moss girl....

I have tried this... but my lupines were too well integrated and not in a discrete bed to be protected by copper tape. I have used copper on my raised vegie beds, and once you have all the slugs pulled out it does keep more from coming in from outside. Now that I have flagstones around my raised beds, it takes quite a bit more effort for the slugs to get there and I find I no longer need the copper tape.
