A Lit charity auction

I am not clear about what the bids would be? I am not certain, Earl, about the proposal, how does one know where money goes? How about filtering an agreed on charity through Laurel? Why not make it more of a slave for a 1000 - 1500 word story tailored to the bid winner, since we are authors? That way no one has to worry about what they can offer or where the money goes?

I'd prefer to have an individual charity. It's going to be very difficult to prove payment definitively, no matter what happens, however, I maintain that anyone who doesn't pay will suffer horrible karma and bad parking luck. Most charities, when you donate online will send a 'Thank you' letter which can be forwarded for proof and, anyone who'd fake one of those isn't worth chasing.

The bids would be via PM. Blind bids with the highest one being announced at the end of each day in a 3 day auction.

There are sites set up that rate charities based on where the money goes, etc. The only one I know off hand is http://www.charitynavigator.org/ - I think it only lists US charities, but it may be a jumping off point or it may have info (I would hope, but can't guarantee) on international charities.
