Beyond the Surface

Music has the power to evoke some strong emotions. I guess I'm one of those unique people who get goosebumps when I listen to music. Not all music, but there are those moments when the lyrics are just right and the chords are either in perfect harmony or perfectly powerful.

What Is The Most Beautiful Song You Have Heard?

(If you list anything by Celine Dion, you will be pummeled.)

And yet I see no conspiracy theories or nerdy facts were shared. I frowned, big.
By 300AD, Rome had 45 brothels, and they were so popular they had to stay closed until the late afternoon. If they were open earlier, nobody would have gone to work.

The conspiracy theory part is off the charts right now. Anything that would lead to the end of quarantine

I enjoy conspiracy theories as fun - but I don't (normally) give them much credence.

Did you know that people who sleep face down on their stomach with their arms above their head have more sexual dreams.

That sounds so uncomfortable...but then again sex dreams are fun to wake up from... hmmm....

Kind of like getting lost in a Lit rabbit hole early in the day and then panicking to get your work done :)

Beautiful Songs

Possibly this song:

Falling Slowly by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova

Depending on my mood there are many songs that bring out emotion, and may lines from songs, I’ve never thought of them as beautiful, but some are, some bring others emotions. Such as the stones star star 😈😬

Music does not have the effect on me that you describe. I enjoy music, I have my own music lists, I have taken music theory classes (apparently I like music that is in a major chord), but I do not automatically turn on music when I am at home, or in the car. There are weeks I go without it.

With that said, about ten yours ago there was a campaign called Playing for Change that released a Stand by Me version using artists from around the world...I think it is the msot beautiful version I have ever heard.

Stand by Me

Nice choice! And I love the movie.

Interesting choice! I’m going to have to re-listen...

I’ve never heard that version but I like it. I love the Ben E King version though

I love classical music, film scores, etc. The two most moving I can think of:
Eternal Father Strong to Save (The Navy Hymn) especially the Marine verse.

Charging Fort Wagner from the movie Glory.

Both are worth a full listen. They bring many emotions to the forefront.

There are just too many to list. My mood, dictates the genre. I do remember the first time though...1976. Peter Frampton Comes Alive...Do You Feel Like We Do...after listening to the entire double set...ending with that crescendo from that song...what the fuck just happened? Was that almost an orgasm? Within a week...I discovered Led Zeppelin...and my World changed.

Embarrassing as it may be, there are some Sousa marches that give me chills....

I’m not sure I could orgasm from Frampton :) but Zeppelin...my god...Ten Years Gone is a beautiful song.

One of my favorite lines from one of my fave songs
I remember is riding in my brothers car, her body tan and wet down by the reservoir, at night on the banks I’d lie awake, and hold you close to feel each breath you take, but those memories come back to haunt me, they haunt me like a curse, is it a dream alive that don’t come true or is it something worse.....

Ten Years Gone is one of my all time favs. Page's guitar is in drop D tuning...so it gives a special depth. And Bonham excelled here. It is one of the songs I have planned for my videocast. That tells you it has a important place in my soul

I couldn’t pick just one....I’m quite indecisive :) so here are a few...

  • Yesterday - The Beatles
  • God Only Knows - The Beach Boys
  • The Dock of the Bay - Ottis Redding
  • Pines of Rome - Respighi
  • Rhapsody in Blue - Gershwin
  • Suite No. 1 in G major - Bach

You need to get on that already! I’m excited for this episode :)
(do they call them episodes?...I’m so uncool)

Just listened to this (start at about 1:35). It has more impact on me because I’m usually dancing to it. The thing I miss most is contra dancing.

I was discussing this with a fellow Litster only yesterday and Otis Redding was mentioned (Cigarettes and Coffee is a favourite of mine), as was Yesterday. We also mentioned Lover You Should Have Come Over by Jeff Buckley, Accidental Babies by Damien Rice, Hurt (the Johnny Cash version) and Nothing Compares 2 U (the Sinead O’Connor version). Just too many great songs to choose from.

That's a cute song :) Thanks for sharing!

Love me some Rhapsody in Blue

I love it! I think it's nearly a 20 min song and I swear I get chills about a dozen times.
