A Place 🤍 for The Girl Next Door ☕️🌷

I'm of the belief that cell phone are the root of all evil. Ok, maybe not all evil... but they become a time suck, leave you with no work/life balance, and even accidentally call people even when you do not mean to....as was the case for me today.

What is the strangest/funniest/most surprising butt-dial you have had the pleasure of receiving?

I love your thread! I may even love you  Keep that smile going StacyLeigh

Beyond the Surface

Intelligence is sexy. But a clever man takes it to a whole other level. Sharp thinking and a quick wit completely intrigue me and make me jealous at the same time. They become your go-to person for advice and a laugh.

On the other hand, a charming man can woo like no other. They can say so much while saying less. They have a way of owning their own foibles and using them to help you open up – while also making you feel like the most interesting person in the world.

Would you rather be clever or charming? Or maybe you can be both?

I would think that being clever is what everyone hopes to be, and that charm is the baseline we're hoping to rise from.

In other words, if you can't be clever, at least be charming. And hope that when the opportunity arises you're clever enough.

At least that's my story....

In a perfect world, I'd obviously want to be both.

In reality, I'm definitely on the clever side. I know I can come off a cold a bit, especially with people I don't always click with. I learn towards the intellectual side as well. I think my charm is there, but it's my own style and beneath a think layer of sarcasm

I believe a person can be both. This is simply because charm is a fairly subjective matter. I would like to think I am both, but, I know, that what "charm" I have works well on some people, and makes other very suspicious.

Also, someone recently told me I was clever. What they actually said was that I am a quick thinker and quite funny.

They also added that I was a cutie patootie.

So, take that for what you will. This person is obviously not thinking straight

Tough question. You know what? I trust the opinion of one that knows me. What they say I am...I am.

^^ Those are some interesting answers. When I take into account the PMs I got regarding this topic as well, I’m surprised how many of you are unsure of the answer or rely on the opinion of others. I actually thought this would be an easy topic for a group of self assured men...but this has been enlightening.

Intuitiveness and perceptiveness are some of my favorite traits in a man (or woman for that matter). I’m not sure if it’s part of being clever and thinking outside the box - or part of being charming and truly giving your attention to the other person....but it’s a very attractive quality.

I’m someone who, at times, wears her heart on her sleeve and other times hides how she’s truly feeling. I appreciate a friend who can pick up on subtleties and who can look past the facade.

Methinks it has to do with thinking. Critical thinking. And being self aware. And observing. And analyzing. And reflecting. And evaluating.

But mostly thinking (and all those other things).

;)

Me thinks you might be right :) Though it seems so simple, it's something many don't possess. Most need it smacked in their face to notice it...not that that is always a terrible idea either...

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve been drawn to more playful partners in relationships and friendships. That’s to say that THEY are playful and often draw a bit of fun out of my introverted self :). For much of my life, I’ve tended to be a much more serious person and often credit that mindset for my successes. I enjoy those who can break me out of that shell. (After all Albert Einstein attributed his brilliant mind and breakthroughs to having a child-like sense of humor and playfulness.)

Are you more playful or serious? Are you drawn to one or the other?

I'm the more serious one. Cant say I'm drawn to one type or the other. I have had both.

I’m both. In most conversations I can’t resist pointing out the pun or double entendres with the objective of making the other person laugh or groan. I also tend to be serious as I am a numbers person.

To go back to a previous question, I strongly disagree that perception and intelligence are closely related. I am by most measures “wicked smart” as we say in Boston, but I sometimes don’t pick up on subtleties and non verbal cues. I have a blind spot. When I do spot things I’m highly empathetic.

I can relate. I think I’m pretty smart but I’m not always as observant as I’d like to be... certainly not as quickly as I should.

My blind spot is empathy though. It’s a quality I definitely lack.

It's not actually something i can control, Most times I say that I feel your pain it means that I can see why that hurts and and can imagine myself in that position, but a significant amount of the time, it means I feel your pain, i hurts me to see you hurting.

I'm definately more serious, and I think in the past I've told myself I should look for partners who are on the serious side as well. I don't know why I've been surprised when I find them boring.

I think I could use someone with more of a playful and silly side.

Older? Lol...ok whippersnapper...

There is a time to be serious...and a time to be playful. And hopefully, if life is being good to you, you can find these times each and everyday. Life, is a mindset. There is nothing better than watching the sun rise. How such a simple act can open the door to both being serious and playful still amazes me. And if I start my day open to the possibilities...then they are there. If I start my day only focusing on the serious aspects, is it any wonder all I see...am...during the day is serious? Balance...makes me happy. That is why I don't put much value in being percieved as intelligent or charming. It has less to do with me, and more to do with them.
