Good Morning but....

I'm a bit dissapointed that nobody else but myself here at the PG congratulated EL and Polljean on their engagement!!!

True they don't usually hang here on the PG. Usually at the GLBT or GB. True they are a Lesbian couple. I specifically asked them to come here because I thought (and have bragged) that we were a kindler and gentler bunch of loving folks. I was exstatic (sp) of all the people at Lit. to be on the short list of people invited to partisipate in their union of love and commitment to one another.

Maybe I was wrong when it comes to same sex relationships.
I hope not. Prejudice is prejudice is prejudice. And I hate it.

I might not be able to speak out here in this little town about it, but I sure as heck can here. If I get shunned for it, then so be it.

You are right 69, none of that make a difference as long as they love each other deeply, trust and care for each other, and both wish to be joined as one.

Like so many things here on Lit it just gets missed or passed by because someone is doing something different! everything you said is very true when it comes to love, friends any of that it matters not your race, creed, Love is truly Blind to all that.... as we should all be that kind of Blind!!

I didn't mean to get up on a soapbox, because this house was built for people to celebrate romance...or healing from past ones, so that they can love again.

It is my passion to treat everyone like I want to be treated and my vow to fight discrimination of any kind that sometimes get's me in trouble. I know these are all freinds of mine. People who come to this thread.

Thank you for the well wishes for their joyous union. It is not easy in todays political enviroment. Feeling they must go to Canada in order for their comittment to each other to be recognized by law. Things the rest of us take for granted.

The slow recognition (hopefully soon to be made permanent) that two people can love each other even when they don't fit the old man and wife notion, is something I'm proud that both my country recognizes and the church I belong to promotes.

I understand the point of taking things for granted. For a day hasn't gone by since the wonderful man in my life discovered that he din't fit the definition of "straight". We realize that had I been a guy, he would love me just the same and nothing would really change between us, yet the rest of the world might not have been as friendly when we announced our engagement almost a year ago. We plan to have a separate ceremony in Toronto after our wedding with our families to celebrate with friends, and in some way we hope to remind people that love and marriage should be for all. All aspects of myself will be married to all aspects of him, even those that do not fit the clear-cut man & wife version of weddings.

I wish EL and Polljean the best. If you need help finding a place (secular or religious) I would be happy to do some leg work for you in Toronto. I am happy to be able to offer the church I am a part of that voted to support all unions of marriage (it even says so on our message board that all couples are welcome!).
