AH Anthology

Okie, I've been having a play, too.

I've come up with this concept. I can play with it some more, cos I've saved it in various stages as psd files. More or less letters can be added to the glass, for example.

Also, the main image is from a copyrighted image (although I have altered it a lot - I flipped the image, added an opaque blue layer over it, etc). IF this image is the preferred one, I can get them to allow me to use the image on the cover, provided we add a little thank you and mention of the company on the inside cover of the book somewhere.

Whaddya all think?

Lou :rose:

Oh, how positively phallic. *grin*

I love the colors and shapes. My only qualm is the image not being "ours" ... but I'm willing to include it in the Copyright Acknowledgments section. We're going to have some tough choices when this/these poll(s) go up.

here's a revamp, and I am willing to revamp again and again.

Dar, I hate to say this but those look like highballs, not cocktails, especially when they include ice cubes. I realize a cocktail can be in any kind of glass but the usual one is in what is called a cocktail glass and I think that's what we should show.

Well, all I can say is that Imp is going to put up a thread for the cover ideas also, so whichever wins wins. They are all good.

Well I like everything I've seen so far! We either need a bigger cover or several of'em *chuckles*

Rhino love, I'm with Imp, subtle is good, thats why I like the glass and the tipped back head, suggestive but not too raw. I think anything other than understated will scare folks off from buying it, even those not having to go into a shop and purchasing it face to face. :)

Meh, I like mine, lou's are okay-ish

j/k Love it lou, seriously its fabulous.

LOL! Awwww. :rose:

Dar, I like your concepts, but please forgive me for saying that yours don't look quite "polished" and "professional" enough. BUT, I realise that's not your fault, it's probably the imaging software you're using.

What are you using, btw? I have Photoshop 8, and working with software like this (once all the tools and apps are learnt) makes for a much better finished product. I know we're only amateurs, but we'll (hopefully) be sitting alongside the professionals on the bookshelves. Hey, we can aim high. ;)

Can you get a straighter edge on the glass? The way it is right now is pixelated. I hate nit-picking, but I'm trying to be helpful. :)

LOL! It's phallic, without being rude. ;) :D

Thanks, babe.

Yep, I so get you there. I completely understand what you mean when you say that we need a "brand" and our own identifiable "image". Each volume needs a cover that is unique to us and they should all be within the same theme.

It's a tricky one.

I've been thinking of the three S's: sleek, subtle and simple. They need to be eye-catching, without being in your face.

I really like my own colour theme (but I would say that). The chrome look (on the font, as well as the products) says to me "contemporary and tasteful". And I think the thin opaque layer of blue across the whole thing takes the starkness away from the black.

I positively love the image of the cocktail shaker and glass I used, but I do agree that ideally we need to come up with our own, unique image.

I'll have another think and play some more later. I've got a lot on today, but I might be able to do some more tonight.

Here are a few images we can (legally) use. PM me with your e-mail address if you would like me to e-mail you the high resolution version to play with (add text, manipulate colors, etc.).

Not "arguing" so much as stating my case.

Exactly. :rose:

Re heterosexual ... personally, I prefer the ambiguity so as not to give the impression that the collection is "just" M/F couplings. That's one of the reasons I like the "subtler" eroticism of, for example, Lou's presentation.

There are SO many options and SO many good ideas. That's why selection via poll is a must. I wish I had the artistic skills to take the ideas from my head and put them on paper (or the digital imaging skills to convert them to bits & bytes).

Crimson,
here is the first modified slighty and more finished. Followed by a possible alternate... with Faunus much more giant-like. Give you impressions, please. Even if you would like to decline have ANY illustration. I hav eenjoyed drawing this and all others.

Not my story -- but I like the giant sized Faunus. ;)

I'm going with Imp on this one. The picture with the giant guy is HOT.

This also begs the question..."would he (or the image) be HOTTER if he was bigger still?"

Not to me.

I want the "really, really, really filled to capacity" image, not the "split in two" image. ;)
