Yes. And welcome to the clique.

Edited to ask, am I the token gay man?

no, Carson, you're the token genius. ;)

I must be the token English flirt, who's got a lot of brass. :p

(Actually, I'm not the only one, by a long way. :D)

I read this with my glasses off and thought it said:
I'm the token English tart with the big ass.

I guess that makes me the token English Senior Citizen. Which of you lovely young ladies would collect my walking cane for me, from the car? Hmmmm???

No, just posh.

James, I'd like you to meet Mat. Mat; James.

*laughing delightedly*.......you wicked Yorkshireman.......I repeat. I ain't posh.

Why am I laughing? Gauche and I met at the Yorkshire get together a few days ago, and my accentless southern way of speaking persuaded him that I am 'posh'.

Going to bed now, chuckling.

Incredible thread.

Makes me wish I were British. :)

And it's very odd or very telling, I suppose, that the thread starter hasn't shown up after the initial post. Even after 13 pages of silliness!

So who is it?

Who is lurking behind the annoyed virgin nom de plume?

(If they think the AH is unfriendly, they should play around in the GB for awhile!) :D

Ugh, that place is scary. :(

Scary, yes, but one time we planned a raid over there - killed them with kindness, and had a blast - they were, for the most part, very good sports about it. We even brought back a captive that still shows up every once in awhile (Lou kept him in the cupboard under her stairs). ;)

I tried going there at first...no way in hell is it possible to talk to anybody without having them accuse you of the World's plague!!!

I think I was just incredibly lucky that this was the first place I started posting......it probably would've scared me off permanently.

No, wait, it wouldn't have, but it sure wouldn't have been as much fun as this place is - or supportive. We're dysfunctional as hell, but still a nice, rowdy family.

You know, I've seen so many new folks post that we scare them, or that we're intimidating, but I never felt that way when I joined.

'Course, it helps that half the time I don't have much sense anyway, I suppose. ;)

I started in the GB.

And I did make friends. There are many wonderful folks living there.

But I found the overall tone of many of the GB threads to be a type of derisive discussion.

Newbies are often flamed, offbeat opinions are not tolerated, and some members take great delight in persecuting others for sick humor.

But at first I was intimidated by the Author's Hangout. Even though I had a couple of stories up I didn't feel worthy of the intellect and talent displayed so openly here.

So I lurked. I lurked a long time. :)

And then one day I just jumped in.

People here are warm and caring, the flirting is fun and silly and sexy (but never harmful) and it really is a terrific place to relax.

The only problem?

When I spend time on the threads, I'm not writing.

*sigh*

Anybody willing to give me a hand???

I'd like to know how to change the quote under my name...anyone care to tell me how?

You mean your title? Where it says "really experienced"?

Sorry, babe, you can't change that until you hit 1,000 posts. :(

Probably won't take as long as you think. This place can be damn addicting. :)
