Aine - A New RP Thread (OOC)

just checking things around and getting bored at the office.
The company went out of business and I'm just babysitting the place for a few days

Uh, babysitting an office that belongs to a company that no longer exists? Why?

one of the associates is still taking stuff out.
And I'm going to work for another soon (hope) that owns the place.

Um, okay.

Anyways, today is a special day, both locally and nationally. :D

oh! its 4th of July there. National holiday in US.
What's it about? Independence day?

Yup, the day we declared/gained our independence from the British! Huraah!

Also, the monsoon season has officially begun here where I live. We had our first good ol' thunderstorm of the year that brought the usual five to ten minute rain.

Get a raft. :D
I know what you mean; we had floods here. Things got pretty nasty.

Well, we had a flood that took ten minutes to form, when a river jumped from it track and gobbled up a road and an entire neighbourhood Does that classifies into flash flod?

No, not really. Flash floods here are where a normally dry wash suddenly turns into a raging torrent of water several feet deep (deep enough to stop a car in its tracks) in about five minutes.

I understand. You also get the "mirror land" effect there? Its when the ground is so baked that water doesn't infiltrate and spread instead, making a mirror of water.

No, not that I know of, but the flash floods are caused by the ground being so baked, and so much water being dumped on us in so short a period of time, that the water just takes the path of least resistance downhill, instead of soaking in.

were we get that kind of situation the land is mainly flat, so the water just spreads

So, you get flash flood lakes/ponds while we get flash flood rivers. Which is more dangerous, I wonder.

Well, your flash flood rivers are destructive but pretty loud and people notice them. Even if to late.
Our ponds can be deadly; if it rains on a uninhabited area, the water can form a film over a road and turn it into a death trap

Hydroplaning. Some of my peers out here think that it would be cool to have that happen to them; I think them stupid for it. Of course, there has to be enough water on the ground first, which is not likely to happen.

that's it, by I knew it as aquaplaning.
A few millimetres of water are enough to become dangerous.

Yes, but I believe it requires high speeds with sudden braking for hydroplaning to occur. Oh well.

Anyways, it's late. I must be off to bed. Good night.

If anyone is going to take over the thread, I would prefer you, Wolfsister. Of all the people here, you are perhaps the best qualified to run Aine. :D

Lurkers, present! :D

Thanks for the good words guys, I appreciate it. But this is QM's baby and I know how I'd feel if anyone had the balls to take over Illusion Vale - I'd castrate them. So... it'll only be a last resort if I take over here.

Anyway, I'll be slowing things down in our RP Qyron. Mainly to give people a chance to 'catch' up and for QM to come back. Anyway, it's still interesting but we'll see.

Don't rush with the post either, I prefer it when you put some thought into things.

Hmm.. looks like I just missed Jedi LOL, the time thingy's actually working at the moment so I can see what time you guys posted. Somehow, I think that's really funny :D

Well, if this thing gets into a coma, I'll think about opening my own.
