Aine - A New RP Thread (OOC)

It seems I'm the only one with nothing more useful to do with my life but spend it in Lit.:D

But since this thread is quite very much dead, I've been broadening my horizons over other sections. I really have to focus again...

Hey! You aren't the only with time on his hands.

As for brodening your horizons, why not look at other stories here in the ORP? Illusion Vale is an excellent story, although it might be a little late to show up with a new character, but you might be able to get permission to take up an abandoned character.

I'm already busying myself on several other not so plot demanding stories/ideas over the SRP forum - I though I just needed to get my hands dirty to expand my writing capabilities on something simply more mundane.

And I appreciate your offer, but I discovered on my own previously I'm not good at picking up someone else work. Besides, as you wisely put, IV is too evolved now for me to just "jump in"

I'm working on a idea myself for a new thread, but that is something to be taken with time.

Eh, I prefer stories that have a decent plot to them, which tends to exclude any story based on sex, hence why I avoid the SRP forum. But, if it works for you, more power to ya.

I've been thinking about which characters have been abandoned over at IV, and I think I found one that might actually work for you, if you don't mind vampires: the character that previously belonged to Optimas. His posts were a rather poor quality, and he didn't post all that much, so there really isn't all that much for you to try to pick up. I'm sure that if you managed to secure permission to use the character from Wolfsister, you'll do just fine with it.

I'm not sure if I asked you this before or not, but what's your idea for the new thread?

Eh! I'm not that fond of vampires. And I do agree with you when you state that most stories over there lack a guiding line: I get dizzy when I try to find/follow a path to make some sort of decent story.

I appreciate the offer, Jedi, but I think I would just feel off-pace if I jumped into Illusion Valley now: I don't know what was before me, I didn't followed how the characters evolved... And that thing is really big for me to just read through it in a zip and jump in. I prefer to stay away and don't fumble anyone's pleasure.

My story? Well, it's still pretty much in an embryo state but I'm thinking on using a war/war threat between Athalan and an alliance of smaller nearby kingdoms.
I've come up with an idea of a Queen/King that as become more and more powerful over the years and gets the idea that every one should pledge allegiance to the banner he/she rules.

Eh, well, if you ever reconsider, you know where to go. The vamp is the only male character that I can think of at the moment, other than a giant, that has been abandoned. If Wolfsister hadn't killed off the giant, he might have been a good choice. There's also a minotaur, but I'm not sure if he's been abandoned or not. Oh well. You've made your decision, and I'll respect that, although it would be nice to see someone else be a regular poster in there so that there is more life in the story.

As for the idea, it sounds like an anti-tyranny sort of deal where a band of heros would come together and fight to maintain freedom, right?

Well... not quite.

I'm thinking of exploring a more darker aspect of the Athalans I came up when I was working on the race bio.

We are talking of a secluded people, with moral and social values so far from the races that I wonder what they would do if someone would be fool enough to actually demand submission from them.
I think, considering their rule "win or die or trying", that they would not stop the war until they were all dead or the enemies totally wiped out. This would come as a shock, as the assaulted one would turn into the aggressor.

You must be distracted at the moment; I had a little trouble taking what you had written and putting it into proper English grammar in my head. Normally, I don't have that much trouble, unless you're clinically exhausted or distracted.

Anyways, it sounds like a situation where the attacker plans on beating his victims into submission, only to find out that doing so only pisses them off. It reminds me of the Bourne movies, where it is said that trying to kill Bourne and failing only pisses him off.

Sorry. I'm not very much on focus today, but thank you for the heads up, Jedi.

Yes, you can say that. But as usually happens, as I'm speaking with you I'm coming up with ideas and I realized how boring that would end up. Eventually, there would only be 2 sides on the story and very little freedom of choice for the players: be an Athalan or be a corpse, eventually. That's no good.

A mercenary band that shows up somewhere in the middle, perhaps?

Thing is still very much an embryo...

I also thought of an incursion of Athalans - a very small group - into another kingdom to learn more about them and realising that place is ruled by a power hungry monarch. Eventually, they will start feeling sick with what they see and start taking the place apart.

That, I would like to see: a bunch of disgruntled giants hellbent on destroying something. That would be interesting. And just for kicks, throw in someone who toys with them, basically a "poking the pissed off wildcat with a stick" sort of thing.

*laughing on the ground*

Care to elaborate on that thought? You seem to have a knack to see Athalans pissed off.

It is a good idea; keeps things interesting. Basically, the idea is that some character comes along, either a neutral wanderer or a loyal servant of the evil royalty, and smacks the Athalans around either verbally, physically, or both, then leaves. He doesn't kill them, he simply humiliates them while taking joy in what he does. And this character shows up numerous times, each time doing the same thing: show up, challenge, humiliate, then leave.

For a people that have the philosophy of win or die trying, being beat over and over again, but being left alive, has to be the most infuriating thing ever. With each occurance, the Athalans just get more and more pissed, until ultimately the botch something up and get themselves killed or they defeat their foe.

I would be surprised if there would be anyone around to claim for the damages

Hey! Its my all time favorite jedi knight!

Evening to you, jedi. How are the mocking birds over there? Still annoying?

They've been quiet for probably at least a week now, so no, they aren't annoying at the moment. Crickets, however, are another matter.

Also, my apologies for disappearing last night without saying anything; my internet had died on me.

No problem. My new wireless connection is making me go to the wires today too, so I can understand you.

And don't you have a can of bug spray around? either that or get a lizard. they usually love crickets for breakfast.

There is a healthy lizard population in my area, plus I've got a cat that has no difficulty with eating a cricket, just as long as you set her down near the bug so she'll notice it. Lazy cat.

The problem with my Internet wasn't my laptop; the built in diagnostic program with IE suggested it was my router.

Where is everyone? I haven't seen Kalika around, and definately not QM.

Beats me. I've decided to give QM as MIA. Kalika is probably busy. Or fighting a croc.
