An Amazon's slave

Kes took in her words, and after another pause and a short swallow, and replied, "Yes, M'lady."

As a fate, enslaved to an amazon certainly was an improvement over that which Gart had intended for him. She had yet to treat him harshly, and in fact had shown him pleasures. As for escaping, it seemed doing so would be too dangerous to attempt. He dipped his head under the water, enjoying the feel of the hot bath. He probably needed it, after his time on the road, and of course the recent exertions.

In a tavern called the Blind Mermaid, in the port of Saril nearby, Gart and his surviving henchman were nursing their wounds and their mugs of cheap ale. They were sat at a table, and were not alone. The other figure had listened to their miserable tale with some interest.

"Thrice-damned woman," cursed Gart over his drink, taking another swig, "I don't mind so much the money owed to me, its the loss of face," he explained.

Velesca watched him with a smile and she to ducked her head under the surface and when she arose water dripped from her lean slender body.

"I know, friend. Loss of face in... our circles... can be very bad for business," said the man sat opposite Gart. "Though you could hardly have been prepared to deal with an amazon."

"Yeh, I heard they eat the hearts and drink the blood of those men they defeat in battle, to steal their strength," said Bursen, Gart's bald-headed brute of a henchman. "And mate with demons, sacrificing their newborn sons to their cursed goddess."

"Such tales are commonplace," nodded their drinking companion, who took a sip of red wine from the glass before him. "Yet think on this... a fine price might be had indeed for an amazon on the slave block, there are many Lords I suspect who would relish the trials of taming such devilwomen."

"The expense of a small mercenary company would be easily be repaid and more by such an auction," Gart said, a wicked smile forming as he followed the mans trail of thought. "It would also protect my reputation."

His gloominess subsiding, Gart began to enjoy his ale.
