I am kind of embarassed to ask this, but I really want to try it and was hoping to find someone else in my situation.

I have very severe IBS. I have had to have adhesions removed three times in the past 10 years. I thought I was having gyno problems when I was 15 and based on what I was telling the doctor he thought it was endometriosis. So after 3 years of complaing and a few actual pass out spells from the pain he finally did exploratory surgery and found the adhesions. He apologised profusely as he had never seen anyone with a) such a severe case ( not even in text books) and B) never seen anyone so young. He still only sees it in women that are PAST menopause. The reason he thought was endometrios is because my colon had practically pulled itself onto my uterus.

They need to be removed again. I can feel them pull, but I wait until they are too bad to bear b/c I hate surgery.

So, anyone else wearing the same pair of shoes as me?? Have you tried it. Did it cause you more problems??

I'm sorry yours is so bad. I have IBS, but nothing as bad as yours.. mine is even getting better as I move into less stressful lifestyle patterns.

Anyway, I've found that anal sex has only worsened my IBS, for about week, and then it goes back to normal.. so if you have something as bad as you do, I would stay WAY the hell away from it. I don't think it can be beneficial to you.

if you are getting the runs a lot stay away from anal, its not worth it.

i use immodium for symptom control, active ingredient is Loperamide 2mg. This sorts things out temporarily.
But semen in my colon causes real problems, so precautions are necessary.
Then i can play happily.

I would stay away from it, regardless of whether you are able to control the symptoms. You are prone to adhesions already and a nice case of colitis caused by non-resident bacteria introduced by a foreign object during anal sex probably wouldn't be help matters.

But what does your Doc say? It might be a bit embarrassing to ask but I doubt he'll bat an eye if you do, try it.

I have the form that is less frequently recognised. Where my gut doesn't move for several days. I think that is why mine is so bad.

My understanding is that it can really only be controlled with diet. I am not not a candidate for zelnorm b/c mine is so severe.

I am afraid that using an enema would not work like it should.

Thanks for the input there Trinity. Too bad my gyno is one of my Dad's colleagues. I know that they can't and don't talk about that stuff too much... But it is kind of weird b/c his daughters are the same age as me. He has made a comment in the past that some of my issues make him worry about his daughters.

But I am pretty close with his nurse, I will definately consider asking her...

Is what you mentioned about colitis how one gets it??? I work with a girl that has colitis and she said that her doc said that it was from her IBS going untreated for so long. That kind of worries me as she is 6 years younger than me. But she has the symptoms that are readily associated with IBS.

Thanks for the replies... this is a question that I have been wanting to ask for years. The guy with puffy nipples inspired my bravery.
