and other chitchat

Oh well at the risk of people thinking I am a weirdo they read minds for one thing ... not a conscious thing to be done at will ... it just happens and if they put their minds to it they can send messages (see I warned you weirdo eh?!) When I first read John Wyndham I thought "but I can do that" maybe not to the extent of the book but still .....

Do you really need to read the minds of the people around here? I know sometimes their motivations need to be read, but no all the time.

Back,
Read Minds,...
Anything else?

I had never met a changling on a message board before so I am just trying to find out about them/you. :D

They are tall and blonde and in childhood frail and weak. In a county where everyone else is short dark and sturdy that's no fun I might add so they take themselves away from people and hide themselves in books and make believe. They make friends with animals, wild as well as tame, which in a way makes it worse when people look at them oddly as they wander through the fields alone apart from an assortment of animals following them around

Do all changelings children have a “frail and weak” childhood? Is the change from ‘frail and weak’ to ‘strong’ the first process for the changeling?
How does one communicate with the animals? If it is the same way as Dr. Doolittle, then what happens if a particular animal is deaf?

“Fascinating, Captain.”

Or

“Interesting. Very interesting" [sleeks down behind a bush]
:)

Are you taking the piss? Am I strong then? sometimes I wonder and I don't know how to make friends with animals they just come to me must be that they recognise changelings

Are you taking the piss?
No it was a reference to Artie Johnson on the TV show "Laugh-In". He would pop out slowly and say, "Interesting. Verrrry Interesting" and sink back down indicating that he is watching. I guess I am just showing my age and TV influence.

Actually it was the Dr Dolittle and animals being deaf I was referring to ... the rest shot over my head

Ooooooooh bad boy and there was me being serious for once !
If you are serious about a comment I made, I will be happy to show you what I meant. I mean, explain what I said. :D
Being bad IS more fun than being good.

F-ine. Me likey. Say more!
Limericks are decidedly not a specialty of mine. Or, really, it's not the poor limerick's fault, it's just that I am terribly horrible with rhymes. I am the anti-rhyme-slayer. A rhyming opportunity sees me and runs away screaming because it knows if I mess with it it'll just end up on rhymey welfare blubbing about the good old days in Dictionopolis.
So keep that in mind, dear friend. A rhyme almost died to make you a little limerick.

Dictionopolis.

That's got legs. Long legs. Legs and arms. I might swipe that. Put it on the list.

Guy walks into a bar, or he thinks it's a bar but it's really a dictionary, and they close the doors, so he's trapped. He's no etymologist, he just wanted a beer. He steps on a word or bumps into a word and becomes that definition.

And give that rhyme a blanket and a hot cup of cocoa. Take the rest of the day off.

I think, most times, we subject ourselves to those sorts of rituals because we believe they're there. I don't think they're here, although I will say that every time I venture a second post I feel awfully stupid about whatever I've just said. But, I tend to feel that about any first posts I make, too. Which again, is me, not the society.

But to keep pushing on with the topic even though the little "over-garrulous" alarm is beeping in my head, I think eventually you come to a point with posting where you have to decide that you're just gonna put it out there. And stop beating your brains in about it (which I know we both do). It's your voice. And it's okay. :rose:

Ah! So there is a Society!
