Character Bio:
Name: Mack Alvey
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Nationality: American
Race: Human
Physical Description: 5'10", caucaisan, slim build (fit; athletic, without being obviously muscular). Hazel eyes, dark hair, worn long, usually tied at the neck with a bit of leather boot lace.
P
ersonality: Usually quiet, somewhat aloof. Doesn't say much, but when he does choose to speak, he rarely wastes his words on anything trivial. When in a cockpit, he's a little less reserved; although he still doesn't talk much, he doesn't always fly "by-the-book". Tends to stick to the basics; travels light, bringing very little that isn't necessary or at least useful.
Family Background: Father was a businessman; not for a huge company, but he made enough money for the family to live rather comfortably. He managed to make opportunities available for Mack to explore his interests, and decide what sort of career he might want. His mother married soon after college, and has only had a "career" as a housewife. Much of her college studies were associated with various European mythologies and legends. Mack has read a fair ammount from her old college books, and so has a passing familiarity with major elements of Greek, Roman, Celtic, and a little of Norse mythologies and legends.
Skills:
Ambidexterous
Tested out of several courses in High School, but chose to fill out his schedule with elective computer courses; is proficient in programming, and computer repair.
From a young age, showed considerable interest in flight simulators on the computer, demonstrating a natural feel for flying, and considerable situational awareness, being able keep track of several nearby airborn objects, even in simulated dog-fights.
His father called in some favors, and promised to owe a few more, to get him some seat time in actual planes (light, single prop planes) at a near-by airport.
Earned his pilots license by the time he was 15, and is currently rated to fly single engine props, and small jets.
Some basic medical training (part of the courses required to get his pilots license).
Often watched any repair work being done on planes he's flown. Has passing knowledge of the systems involved, and can usually identify the most likely sources of a malfunction, although unable to perform more than basic repairs and maintenance on his own.
Career Skills: logged some hours as a copilot
Dorm: Air Defense
This is a little more fair...we can do gear next if you like
Sorry it took so long to reply. Got sucked into some stuff that ate up the bulk of my free time, and some of my sleeping time too. ;p
I think I can manage to work with that.
As far as gear goes, if you find it reasonable, I would like to request having a light plane of some sort, single engine prop. Either as a gift from someone, or that he got a loan to purchase, and is still paying off said loan. Or half and half (ie - some one gave him part of the cost of the plane, and he scraped up the other half with a loan and some savings).
I'm thinking a plane with enough space that he could haul all of his personal stuff to the school in, and also a few seats, maybe enough 2-4 passengers, plus pilot. I'm spitballing 16-20 cubic feet for the stuff he'd bring with him, being some clothes, and computer gear.
On that note, assuming you grant the plane - does the school have its own airstrip that he'd be allowed to land at, or would he be expected to fly to a civilian/public airport, and grab a taxi or rent a car from there to get to the school?
Sorry the plane is just to much of an advantage...but there are pilot programs at the school. I beleive the class list is on page 12 of the in character thread. The training is done at the Toyoko airport. You do need transport and for that I will give you something that will make you very popular at school.
You are now the proud owner of a preowned battle damaged SUV (think a suburban). It is black and the paint job is scratch resistant...it is and except for the dingings on the right side from armor piercing rounds. The windows are bullet proof though and tinted. In good shape. The tires are puncture proof though scuffed. The car has only two settings....turbo and 4x4. It is actually fuel efficient and his a hybrid. It takes diesal and has a power cell that will last for 40 years though it needs time to recharge so you have to still gas up...the inside only has the driver and passanger seats. Otherwise anyone in the back has to sit on the carpetted floor. It has a spare and jack and a GPS though. The diplomatic security agency was upgrading its fleet so this vehicle was sold cheap though beatup.
Okay you have a car and a student parking spot...not bad.
Your Stuff
You have three desk tops....and two desk tops. A mile of extra capable and wires. large desk lamp. Tool set for fine work. You also have a workbench with plenty more tools and spare parts. You also have a heavy duty surge protector..has an eight hour battery life(after which needs to be plugged in to be recharged).
You have a book case filled with flight manuels, craft designs, war stories, history books and training books and DVDs...a desk top with chair dedicated just to play flight games. Actually classified as a trainer.
Set of crew chief tools (basically fix most things on a plane), EMT bag with O2 tank, and diagnostic computer
5 complete sets of blue BDUs, three dress uniforms, pistol holester belt and sword, one bolt action rifle and bayonet, UZI, one complete set of riot gear including shield and baton, 3 flight suits, bedding, towels, and text books. 3 complete sets of PT workout clothes.
