I have 5 soups that I make on a regular basis. There's always some in the freezer but this one doesn't freeze.

Anything with potato blended seems to release starch and go horrible.

Potato isn't blended. I use quartered miniature spuds. For soup I have a wide mouthed flask.

Oh, I normally blend potatoes in soups to thicken.

Noooooo. Keep the potato in chunks and make a cornflour slurry with your stock.
