Anyone from the UK?

Working from home isn't the be all and end all.

Been 3 years now thanks to Covid and it can be very lonely.

If only. Some of us still have to work, even though bank holidays are  supposed to be voluntary.
Unfortunately not the government guidelines are basically on the side of the employer now and not the employee they clearly state it's up to the individual employer if staff get time off or not which I think is very said I personally think every bank holiday should be mandatory.

Shouldn't be mandatory. But shouldnt be made to work either. Workers should be suitable compensated, either get paid double time, or get a paid day back in lieu. If everyone had the day off, there would be no power, no TV, nothing open, etc.

True had not thought of that, I totally agree with what you said though.

Having worked in both the armed forces and emergency services, I have had periods when I had no choice. My current employers ask for volunteers and, only if there are insufficient staff to cover the (reduced) duties, then draw lots to cover the remainder.

Thankfully, an additional person has offered to work so I now won't have to. If I had, the options for compensation would have been the (twice) enhanced Sunday overtime rate for the day and a lieu day OR the overtime rate plus holiday pay as if I had been off.

I'm the same, still having to use my previous one, 300 miles south. Very glad they aren't linked to address like GPs are.
When I moved here, and registered with a new gp, the receptionist had a go at me, as doctor's receptions have a reputation for doing. Apparently my previous doctor was too far away from my previous address, and I wasn't registered there. "Yes, I was." "No you weren't, you couldn't have been" etc. Went on for hours. Luckily, she no longer works there.

I was registered at the same practice for (cue the Hovis music(Dvorak's 'New World' Symphony) and black and white footage of young boy in shorts pushing a bike up t'thil) for 50+ years. Even after I moved across the other side of Manchester I kept the same practice, have not registered with any of the local practices where i am now as i cant find a good one sigh

You've escape the GP police 🤣. My house is only one of 4 with this street name, it's like something from Dr Who, noone knows it exists. I went to register with the local GP, which is less than 10 mins walk away and even with a utilities bill they didn't believe I was 'just up the road' 😂. I did suggest the receptionist walk up with me and have a cuppa lol

Hope all goes to plan. Early finish on a Friday ?
It was a grim reminder why I don’t generally work on a Friday, the journey home was a disaster and took forever. Left Hull at 2.45 and didn’t get home until 7.15. The good news was that I fixed both machines.

The Monty Python argument sketch springs to mind.
Don’t you argue with me!
I’m not.
Yes you are.
No I’m not.
Is this the quick five minutes or the full half hour?

Ouch. I can't imagine getting that done. Although my nipples are very small. Surely it hurts like a trooper for a few days?
Brief burning sensation as the needle goes through, then again as the bar follows. Only discomfort after that, gel & saline solution ease any pain & help healing. Definitely worthwhile. My nips are small too but piercing enlarges the nub.

A caning from me is a lot more painful!
