Like Chewy, I have been having fun w/ the Forgotten World's thread. I am have a great bunch of people in the SRP of X-Men. Keep shooting ideas, I am game to join at least one more thead. If I can handle written for more, I'll sign up for more.

Good point Arc da Rat, thats why I joined Forgotten World right after the originator. That way I did not have to scroll through 10 pages of background info. This has been more fun to do then I thought, I always check up on the FW thread to see what is going on. BY the Way PmTick, come on into the Forgotten Worlds thread the waters fine, (plus, No one has jumped on as a bad guy yet, we are making that one up as we go along, LOL)

It's not you...I actually thought the same thing when mine started to die off...threads just come and go...
Okay, so we've basically got support for the Nebula idea and that's it, yes? How about we set up a setting and see who all is interested...
I'm thinking, (if we only go with one thread) that the starship would be the best place to start, then they would land on a planet where the conditions are similar to those on Earth. No too technologically advanced...capable of only what they need. Weapons would not be so advanced as laser technology yet, but still projectile weapons...they might have advanced healing technology and whatnot. The ship would be capable of traveling faster, but not light speed or anything like that. The idea would be to make it hard for them, that way we'd have more possibilities in the thread.
My thoughts...if we do two threads, the people on Earth would have to bne doing something to help those in space, and vice versa, while both faced their own threats...I wonder if this would be better on one thread, though, as the storylines would greatly interact. Also, it might be hard to get enough players to manage two threads.
Any one else have any thoughts on this?
No one's commented on the ideas at the top of this page...looks like Wasteland II and the "kid's toys" idea aren't meant to happen just yet...

Yes, I'm still here. I've been reading but not writing.
I just went through and re-read all the posts here. The one about the spaceship going from a scalded Earth to a new planet seems to have stuck. But I rather like the idea of a comedy, a spoof. Someone else mentioned it. We've got a nice group of writers.
How about we play one side, perhaps those on Earth, for real. Make it serious.
And then play the ones aboard the ship as a spoof. We could Make the spaceship part a Soap Opera. Romances, backstabbing, the whole bit. Have some fun with that. While playing the Earth up as serious and Hardcore SciFi.
Or maybe do it the other way around. Play those on Earth as a soap and then those in space as hardcore scifi.

The only problem I can see with the Nebula idea is that it'll get boring. There's only so many times one person can check the atmosphere of a planet. I would feel more comfortable if we defined conflicts a bit more, enemies and whatnot.
It'll just make me feel better.
That, and if we do now, we won't have to stop in the middle of the thread beacause some dick decided the planet we landed on was filled with giant scorpions or something. I hate when someone does that, just ruins everything.
If we could define what the problems will be, at least a vague description. Maybe even volunteer a few people to be bad guys or something. Evil space pirates, who just want to take the ship and sell it for parts or something.

I agree that we need more difinition...just wasn't sure what that should be and didn't want to overdue my prescence so soon, if at all. I figured I'd wait and see if I got some feedback first.

An Idea ...

Its about a boy traveling on this Train (GE 999) to a planet to get a cyborg body. Or something like that, cos I havent read the thing in a long time. We could use the train instead of a space ship for traveling. Obviously the Company running the railway wouldnt have a station on a dangerous planet ...

I have never done a futuristic role play before, hell, the thread I am on now is my first. But, what the heck, why not. We seem to have plenty of support for this idea. How about posting a thread here with all the background information, plots, ect... That way we can all pick characters without changing the main idea of the story??? Just an idea.

A good thoght, but danger is good, the overuse of control by other players is bad...some of the RPers here have a habit of overdueing certain things, like the power in their characters and whatnot...
We may have to just play this one out and hope that doesn't occur...
We can set it up where they can send characters back and forth between planets after they've set up a "transmitter" or whatnot, like beaming in Star Trek, except they need one on either location, so once they colonize, we can send characters from Earth to the other planet without the long journey.
The unsettled of the planet is what gives us options there...we can also have different things take place en route. However, poohlive has a good point (as always) concerning the "Space pirates" thing. Perhaps what we need is an "evil race" or something of the sort, something to add a little more flavor, something that'll always be around to hold interest when nothing else does...Perhaps an old ally in the space exploration game, that has since become too greedy to share and wants to have everything to itself.

A possible idea....
How about loosely basing this story on the the Commonwealth as written by Alan Dean Foster. The beginning is very good with the human race struggling to colonize, the Thranx- a race of giant insects that befriend the humans over time, and the evil empire of AAnn's - a race of reptile men that are dead set to see the two races not combine so that they can try and control the universe for themselves. Just an idea, this could combine a few of the ideas that have been presented so far???

We can take that idea and make it something here, and if it's just like it or totally different...oh well, y'know. Re-name the races and not steal any of the guy's other ideas...
Works for me, except maybe, instead of making the one group allies, make them neutral in a way where they'll have to make a choice between the other two.

Caveman theme is a good idea, but what wil the plot be?
As for the Nebula thread, let's run it down real quick...two different types of characters, the thin tall and lanky, and the short and fat. They are headed to another planet in the Orion Nebula, a budding star system, where they are to colonize another planet to support human life to be transplanted from Earth. Their technology cannot move them through space unless they have botha reciever and a transmitter stationed at either end, meaning they cannot "beam" without having colonized first, then they can use technology to transfer life from Earth to the new planet. We can have characters on either Earth, or in space.
The competition in this one is either the Insect, or the reptile men...how about, we make them both the bad guys, wanting to destroy humankind for reasons unknown. I have an idea of what we can do with this after we get started, if you don't mind me surprising everyone.
WHy don't I start an OOC thread for this, we'll call it "Casting Call; Nebula One" We can finish any details on that one. Anyone who's interested, just jump over and post.
