No, we are PARTNERS. Not one or the other of us needs more practice... WE need more practice. We have to learn to read each other better than we are right now.

Yes... you play a risky game. Yes... I play a bit more conservatively. But that combination can be a reallly winning partnership.

It is fun for sure. Anytime you would like to play with us... just say the word. We can play unrated games until you get the hang of things, too.

That was quite a hand we ended on yesterday, dolly. I had 9 spades and no red cards. Can you imagine the look on their faces when I trumped both red aces?

My Rule #1: I never play rated games with strangers nor do I sit at anyone else's table. If I play alone, I set an unrated table and play computers until someone else comes along to sit and play with me.

Reason #1: You get assholes for partners. They either screw up your rating or they are just not at all nice. I only play with the partner I know and trust, in this case WriterDom.

Reason #2: I set my own table. I like MY options and no one else's. I know what to expect and what I plan to do this way.

I had been the first on that table and was letting strangers play in til ysa (enigma nocturne ) got there. I did tell the asshole (she showed up after he did.) that I was new. He was pissed cause he had bid nil and I had given him two 10s. I know I'm supposed to pass low when that happens, but that was the lowest two I had. So after that, he started playing nasty, not working with me at all. I'd have a trick and the asshole would play a low spade and yank it out from under me. (Yes, he was pulling this even after he'd bid nil, knowing it would penalize us.) So the other people (by this time we had 4 real people) bitched at him for being an ass, and he said he I deserved it for being clueless. So then, ysa tried booting him. (She's such a testy little subbie!) I know you're only supposed to do it if someone is not playing, but he was being an ass.

I was the first at that table on accident. Is there a way to start a new table even if there is already one with less than four players going?

As I told you, I never play a rated game with a stranger for a partner. If you want to set a table of your own (which is what I do) and you want to play for points (which I do not do) then you are playing at your own risk... you could very likely get an asshole like you did last night.

I won't do that. If I don't have WD, I won't play a rated game.... period. But this is how I play... you certainly don't have to play my game. I've just played enought dickheads to know what they are about and what they can do to your rating. People can be just plain mean when they sit behind a computer screen, as you well know. ;-)

You always have the option to leave a table and re-set your own. But you cannot play alone unless you are playing unrated games. If your game is rated, you will sit until you get 3 additional players.

And as it stands, you can count on me and WD. ;-)
