So, having first hand experience with a lot of penises (literally hundreds) over a fairly large sample size of racial and cultural heritage, and I've seen quite a few larger than 5~6 and quite a few smaller. But remember, average is the mean, not the median. It would be interesting, I think, to know the median penis size in the same population researched in the oft quoted studies.

Actually, knowing all three measures: Mean, Median and MODE would be helpful, statistically.

They are pretty common on large men. Mind you, i've come across (see what i did there?) a few oddities attached to some rather non-assuming guys. I am a fairly average sized woman, so average sized ones are most comfortable for me. Large ones can be novel. I've put a couple on the once and only once list in the past. Girls gotta try these things at least once. I've also had a couple of exes with smaller than average (around four and a half inches) who were still fantastic lovers. You are thinking of the median, not the mean (average). The mean is susceptible to skewing by outlying data points. Also, the mean can be a value not even found in the dataset. For example, let's take the oversimplified hypothetical dataset of twelve penis lengths: 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5, 5.5, 5.5, 6, 6.5, 7, 9, 9. In this data set, the mean/average is 5.875". But note that there are seven values below the average and five values above. In other words, the average does not denote the value that is is the middle of the range -- the median does that (here it is 5.5"). Also note how just two larger outliers skew the mean. Further, also note that the average is not a value found in the dataset in this example.

Now, some of you may be thinking that the same is true on the smaller side, that outliers can skew the average. and you would be right. Consider the following dataset:
3.5, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, 6, 7, 7, 7.5, 8, 9. The mean is the same -- 5.875", and so is the median (5.5"). Also note that the least and greatest values are the same. However, this second hypothetical dataset has six values over the average instead of five, as well as five values of 7+ inches whereas the other hypothetical dataset only has three values of 7+ inches.

So what does this tell us? That focusing on the mean (average) does not provide us with the most common penis length, nor does it even tell us much about the distribution of penis lengths within the dataset.

There are "studies" that say the "average" penis size is around 5.25 inches with the most common range is from 5-6 inches. And some studies say being over 7 inches is about 1 out of a 1000 men and that 8 inches and above is about 1 out of a thousand guys with 7 inches or more.
