Are you a risk taker when it comes to writing?

I volenteered to cover Diving in the Literotica Olymics didn't I?

The Literotica Olympics Day 20 . Event: Diving - by Draonel (August 25th)

I tried taking a risk on one of my stories
After the Storm , it seemed to have been accepted ok. Other than that being my biggest risk the only other examples are that I tried to branch out into other catagories that I was pretty unfamiliar with such as BDSM, A Learning Experience and hoped that it was believable even though I knew nothing of the lifestyle other than what I had read myself here at Lit.

Wicked:kiss:

Wicked, the very first erotic story I wrote was in the BDSM category, and I have no real life knowledge of that lifestyle. It remains one of my higher rated stories.

CM, funny how that works isn't it?
I still get feedback quite often from people saying that it sounds like a true to life experience.

I think that because I put myself so much into the story and see myself as the charater that it makes it that much more believeable. In doing that I can imagine every movement, smell, touch and taste to make it realistic.

This thread's got me looking at scores and the like... something I rarely bother with, I'm quite amazed that even the most bold experiments of mine are still scoring above 4 (4.17 & 4.23) I never in my wildest dreams expected them to even find an audience... Rather I expected a load of slating from the purists.

Both: 'Millie's Valentine Present'.... and... 'Charlie's Birthday Present' have survived surprisingly well considering neither were written as serious stories... I wrote them both as experiments and never actually intended to publish them anywhere... but having written them I sat back and thought... hell why not... So I posted them both here... well they coudn't fail the grammar test, neither has a single word of narrative... both being all dialogue from start to finish.

The most harsh critic so far left the public comment:

The story reads too much like a conversation. I would have rated it higher but I was wrapped up in the "British" dialoge.

pops..... The very British story writer:D

I only write good family novels with chicken soup for the soul good vibrations and crap. My characters are only loveable scamps with dogs who do only socially acceptable bad deeds from which he learns important lessons about humanity.

No wait...No.

I am fucked up, so I've got a good imagination and from that I tend to write shit that if not always 100% original at least is a good percentage uncommon. Read my Merry Adventures of Puck or The Contest for good examples of this.

Plus writing standard grates on my nerves. If it doesn't have some taint of unusuality I despair writing it. That's why you'll never see any story of boy meets girl at bar written by me. And no damn scamps either. (Though Gaiman writing the antichrist as a scamp character was pure genius)

Literoticia is not a good place to beexperimental.

At least the people who post comments are often very prudish.

And th editors, too! I posted a story in which a high school senoir had sex. I guess becasue I did not stop to say "18 year old Billy fucked 18 year old Suzie" it was rejected!
