I'm always wondering how one can be a switch. Could you have an actual relationship with a "submissive pet" in which you are a full-time Domme? Or is it an occasional RP kind of thing? Does one role feel more 'natural' than the other?

Speaking only for myself, obvs...

1. How? I draw on my natural inclination to nuture and teach, and my tendency to be a pleaser.. I don't know if I could (or would want to) do it F/T irl. It's more of a hobby, whereas being submissive feels like a life calling. i might consider doing it short term, but ultimately i want to be in a LTR with a dominant partner, absolutely no question about that.

2. Yes, it's only ever been occasional. But I really don't like the RP thing, I much prefer actual conversation.

3. Yes, of course one feels more natural, although at this point I am very comfortable taking the lead with the right person, and can move into that headspace quite smoothly. Being dominant was never a goal of mine, but the opportunity to learn presented itself and it turns out that i don't completely suck at it. I consider it an acquired skill that came relatively easily once i found my personal style, but i doubt that i would have pursued it if I'd not had the opportunity. But who knows for sure?

The word Domme when applied to myself makes my skin crawl, probably because of all the associations I have with it that don't fit me. Yes, I would say I'm a switch who leans heavily sub.

I have sometimes described myself as 'submissive by nature, dominant by nurture.' Playing Domme is optional for me, I don't require it for my happiness or well-being. Being submissive is how I'm hardwired. It's where my heart is at home.
