Well it's now 2pm in Arizona, and I'm BORED! I'm trying to study for a final that I have on Monday but I keep being distracted How's everyone's weekend so far?

lol...no, no exams...I've been training a newbie on our computer system, and the person just is not getting it. I've had to focus so completely on them, and give them such intense one-on-one attention, that I'm trying to cram the rest of my job into the weekend. It's been hectic, and I'm getting a bit burnt out. I start week six with this person tomorrow...normally I provide a two week training...I really don't think this person can do the job, and have conveyed that to her supervisor. Next week is the last week they are allowing her for training (mainly because another site has a trainee on board that I need to be working with). On the one hand I'll be relieved not to be working with this person anymore...on the other hand I think it stinks that they'll likely be letting her go just in time for the holidays. I really hope she miraculously (?spelling?) picks it up next week...I pride myself on being a good trainer...if she doesn't make it, it'd be a first...

Whew! Sorry...guess I needed to vent more than I knew...lol

computer training

Hi Indie,

I can completely understand about the training. It's so hard to train someone when they don't have much computer experience or are just... how to put this nicely...ummm, the porch light is on but noone is home.

I've only been at my new job going on 4 months and I have a couple of workers I'm now training that have been there 2 or more months longer then I have and still haven't figured the computer systems out. Very frustrating.

Hope everything works out.

Oh shadowcat, I don't think the porch light even works for this one... . I've been with this company five years, and responsible for training anyone coming in who is going to use our computer system...I have NEVER had an experience like I'm having with this person. It's like the movie Groundhog Day...we go over the same stuff every day, and the next day (hell, the next minute) she remembers nothing and we're starting all over again at square one...ah well...I'm not doing anymore work today and I'm going to try not to think about training until I have to...tomorrow...

Slowfingers - Congrats on the finals. You'll have to wait on the pics until I get out of the hospital (going in on Wed. morning) and feel better, but you WILL get 'em. Just give me 2 weeks or so. Promise

Indie - Did you get a miracle? Did she get better? At my last job I had a lady hired who obviously lied at the interview about her computer skills; after a year she still couldn't do a mail merge or remember program short-cuts without reminders every Monday - Geesh.
