This girl grew up listening to the roars of Irwindale Dragstrip!
Straight lines are in my blood, although I did learn to appreciate roundy rounds when my nephew started racing.

My dad was really into cars and racing but I did not get that gene from him. I do like off-road racing though.

When I was very young and working for the San Diego Gas & Electric Co. (nights) I rode my 500 cc Snorten Norton motorcycle to work and on the week-ends I would strip it down and go to a drag strip very close to our home.
One Saturday afternoon on an overcast day I ws going for the 100 mph record at that drag strip. The weather was just right for the best engine performance with the heavy moisture content. I broke a 100 mph and when I let off the throttle at the end of the run I felt a little speed wobble as I slowed. Nothing serious and as I went back to the bits I new I had broke the 100 mph mark because of what everyone was doing as I past by them.
Then a few minuites later Don Vesco (about 16 years young), his dad and many others, me included got him ready to break my record. He did it on a Triumph two cylinder 650 cc.
At 81 years young my memory's of racing is still very clear.
Where's the next race??????

Thank you for sharing the link. My dad ran the salt flats a few times back in his youth. And I found a few pins from the Greenhorn Enduro in his things, still have them somewhere. Good memories for me. I needed them this morning. I'm missing cheering my nephew on since my move here.
If you are still out in the desert next time the Lucas Oil Modifieds race in Blythe go cheer him on for me.. Lime Green #26!

I will have to see if I can figure out how to transfer from my cell to here. You can also sometimes link the racing from their website. I10 speedway has a site and also lucas oil modifieds.

Well at least you have that whole pregnant glow thing going, + theres that whole cuddly bundle of joy to look forward to!
Seriously though I get the whole "unplanned, not necessarilly unwanted" thing. The ex "got herself pregnant" for the 5th time after we kinda assummed I had gone sterile again after 7 Years of unprotected sex.
Now that she "moved on" it means a total of 14 years of child support rather than 7 for me but that bonecrushing "i missed you daddy" hug from my little one makes it worth it.
