Army Men In Hell: The Ultimate Wargame

Ok I'll run around with an M16 if required. I'm probs better at covert surveillance and reconnaissance though.

You can throw on a silencer or flash suppressor, and there are several different scopes for an M-16.

If I was to give a guideline for what army men carry it would be any American military issued weapons from WWII up until at least 2000. The troopers have changed little, but their hardware has to keep up with the times.

Hmm. Reminds me of me. And speaking of knives...

I wasn't aware that we could have unusual weaponry. If that is the case, can I throw a katana in with mine? Heh, I thought we were sticking with what army men usually carried.

We are, but I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade with this role play. I've actually scene samurai plastic soldiers so a katana possible. Perhaps your guy captures it in battle....maybe there is a story there.

“When I go home people will ask me, ‘Hey Hoot, why do you do it man? What, you some kinda war junkie?’ You know what I’ll say? I won’t say a goddamn word. Why? They won’t understand. They won’t understand why we do it. They won’t understand that it’s about the men next to you, and that’s it. That’s all it is.” – Black Hawk Down (2001)

Were you going to start a different thread for the IC, or are we just going to do it here?

I was figuring on a IC thread...so we can always come back here to refer to things. Sound good?

Sounds like a plan Jag.

By the way, I would have thought that people would pick up on the AA-12 that my guy carries not being standard issue. As far as I know, it has yet to be put in the hands of soldiers in the field. It was featured on an episode of Future Weapons, so it does exist and it does work.

Well you are working for God's General....

Yes, I did pick up on that. The AA-12 Combat Shotgun is definately still in it's experimental stages, but does exist and work.

Guys considering I based this off of DOOM....that isn't the most outrageous weapon one could carry.

Looks like we have what we have...hopefully more will join up. I'll setup the starting base camp/ bunker and that will be our starting point...and than put together the IC thread.

Fire Base Hell:Starting Point

While Hell isn't the fire and brimstone of the imaginations of clerics it is less than a pleasant plane of existence to call home. For the most part it is long barren stretches of wilderness flanked on all sides by mountains. Most hellions work building Satan's armies with demons and their minions overseeing the work.

The game will be played in a special region set aside for the training of Hell's armies and sports a more diverse terrain. There are hot steamy jungles with rice paddies and swamps. Forests and clearings one might find in Europe, and frozen mountains making up the boundaries of the combat area. A noted there are three cities that theoretically are supposed to be empty, but if they were inhabited could hold some 60,000 residence easily and there are food and water resources to support them. There are large caches of arms and medical supplies as well stored throughout the city.

The truth is though.... Azazel the standard-bearer of Satan has been busy in this region and is shocked when he receives word from Belial that it is being used for the war game. He's secretly been using the area for his own purposes, and for centuries has been bribing and killing to keep it quiet. Hundreds of skeleton and zombie undead roam the planes a freely and are armed with swords, shields and spears. The cities are not as empty as thought, but rather are a 3rd filled with human females...

Azazel and his minions enjoy fornicating with mortal women, and the offspring that result from their unions are human demon hybrids. Very strong males who labor day and night making weapons of war for Azazel. They build ancient weapons and armor, but have also began making modern arms like WWII grade weapons and even Vietnam era equipment, but most of the work is done by hand. None of the higher ups know of Azazel's operation and they weren't counted on by either side when the game was proposed. These tribes of forced whores and demon spawn warrior males are in parts of the cities and small settlements all over the region.

Azazel originally planned to raises thousands of skeleton and zombie warriors to use as cannon fodder for the invasion of Heaven and other planes, and has lost track of how many really are out there. The weapons were to arm Satan's followers, and to impress the prince of darkness by surpassing his peers who have the same resources as him save these hidden ones. He of coarse tells no one of this outside of his inner circle, and allows thousands of tan Army Men to enter the region. He does have a network of Stygian agents in the region to keep him appraised of the situation and will do anything to keep his deeds from being discovered.

Your current situation... You find yourself and 40 other some odd members of Charlie company in a small medieval style town which is surrounded by a hexagon shaped outer wall (http://inkwellideas.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/city.png). Built predominantly of stone and defended by not only the wall, but a deep and treacherous moat. The gate house controls a sturdy draw bridge, and has two towers. There are only nine buildings in town including an old church two towers which can see over the walls. There are two two story buildings which are warehouses, and an "L" shaped in building. The remaining structures are houses. All buildings are in good repair, but strangely empty when you all find yourselves in the city.

OOC: I will post an in character thread, but please tell me what some of your first impulses would be once you arrive. You just "appeared" outside the open gate with the items you have. What do you want to do? Are any of you going to lead the remaining NPC troopers? What are you looking for and what do you want? After I ready your posts we shall begin with a more thorough description.

Can't access the link. Comes up with a 404 error, denied access, etc.

I'll give some thought to the first actions thing and get back to ya on that.

Sure Jagged, the first post would be an interesting one. Will be waiting patiently for the IC thread

Hmm, I'm not sure that quite followed the char sheet rubric.

At any rate, I'm sure there is still room.

Edit: Wait, tan? Isn't this the green army?

Well as to the link I just clicked on it and it worked.... It is the first picture under the section that reads 136 icons http://inkwellideas.com/

lol...yes well tan skin is fine not uniforms and there is room...A desert eagle and not a .45...well it's okay I guess. Glad to know at least one child playing wargames knows you need support personnel.

I will most likely have time to post the IC thread tomorrow....it will give descriptions of what one might find in the buildings what is on the streets and what dangers you have to deal with before, and a message left for you by the general. There will be plenty to find and no extra personnel for a garrison...at this time.

Hmm...I don't remember any of my army men having skin, or anything for that matter, other than green.

Your Germans wasn't Tan?

That is strange. I know that my Vietnamese soldiers was also green, was kinda weird if you ask me

My Germans were from a special play set so it was green versus gray...With Iron crosses.

Vietnamese never had those, but I've seen a vast number of different plastic soldiers from samurai to Napoleon's old guard.

Hello all a change in work schedule changes my pre-holiday posting, but a thread will be up before the weekend is out. Thanks for your interest and patients, and happy holidays to all.

Sorry local snow storms threw me off, but back on track and will be ready to start before the new year if all parties are still interested....I know that is the case and sorry to leave you all hanging.
