Sir, i am so sorry for Your loss of someone that special to You.

Someone once told me that "The Ultimate Peace Does Come With Death", and please just remember He is no longer in pain, and as long as He is in Your heart; He is always there.

Very sorry for your loss, RJ. Going off how great his son is, he was a very good man.

RJ both Northwoods Dom and I send our condolances and hope you find peace during this time of loss.

I just want to thank you all very much. None of your words sound hallow or trite...I really needed the words today. It has been a hard day for me.

My dad was a good man, though he'd be the first to tell you that he had his faults. He knw this was coming and he visited not to long ago. We all sat down to dinner together and he looked around at my family and then at me and said...son I love you and I am proud of you. I told him I loved him too and was glad he had always been my dad.

In the years I grew up, he often worked two jobs to make sure we could have a place to live and enough to eat. He was also creative and was a writer. He wrote many great stories that captured my imagination. JRR Tolken has always been his and my favorite author.

His wisdom was a mixture of understanding and common sense.

When he was younger and throughout his life, he love to go fishing. These were among the best times in my life growing up spending time fishing with my dad. Later I intorduced him to golf...lol. He got hooked and every time I would go visit we would go play a round together.

Anyways, again I just want to thank you all for the things you said and for the words of comfort.

I am terribly sorry for your loss RJ. My deepest, heartfelt condolences to you. I lost my dad in '86. And I still miss him sometimes. Especially when I am listening to a thunderstorm or working with wood. The smells and sounds associated with storms and woodworking really bring memories my dad back for me.

You are in my prayers, my friend.

RJ, I a so sorry for your loss. If you ever have need of an ear ....you know what to do.
I will pray for you and yours...

RJ, I'm so very sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. I wish there was a way that I could take away the pain that I know you must be feeling. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.

Big Hugs to You, My Friend,

I just saw this.

I'm so sorry R.J.

*HUGS and HUGS*

For me, the loss of my father was the second toughest thing I've ever been through in my life. Though each loss is different in some ways for each person, I do know some of how painful such a loss can be.

My favorite song at at time of loss is Goodbye My Friend.

Something about it lets me cry, which I need to do at times like this and also comforts me.

Both Master Gil and I have lost our fathers - coincidentally both passed almost 2 years to the day apart.

I wish Master and Dad had been able to meet - He says from what I have said they would have gotten along well.

We both know how you are feeling RJ, sending good thoughts to you in your time of loss :rose:

I'm so sorry for your loss RJ. My dad died two years ago and I miss him terribly. You and your family are in my thoughts :rose:

RJ, language fails in these moments.

Paradoxically, eventually, it comforts, too.

Reading about your father’s passing made me think of a Robert Hayden poem. I share it here:

Those Winter Sundays

Sundays too my father got up early
and put his clothes on in the blueblack cold,
then with cracked hands that ached
from labor in the weekday weather made
banked fires blaze. No one ever thanked him.

I'd wake and hear the cold splintering, breaking.
When the rooms were warm, he'd call,
and slowly I would rise and dress,
fearing the chronic angers of that house,

Speaking indifferently to him,
who had driven out the cold
and polished my good shoes as well.
What did I know, what did I know
of love's austere and lonely offices
