My dad died.

I'm going to miss him.

Surely God causes the seed and the stone to sprout; He brings forth the living from the dead, and He is the bringer forth of the dead from the living.

I'm sorry, JM, for your loss. There is no pain like losing a parent. :( :rose:

... My dad was a good man, though he'd be the first to tell you that he had his faults. He knew this was coming and he visited not too long ago. We all sat down to dinner together and he looked around at my family and then at me and said...son I love you and I am proud of you. I told him I loved him too and was glad he had always been my dad.

In the years I grew up, he often worked two jobs to make sure we could have a place to live and enough to eat. He was also creative and was a writer. He wrote many great stories that captured my imagination. JRR Tolken has always been his and my favorite author.

His wisdom was a mixture of understanding and common sense.

When he was younger and throughout his life, he loved to go fishing. These were among the best times in my life growing up spending time fishing with my dad. Later I introduced him to golf...lol. He got hooked and every time I would go visit we would go play a round together....

Rich, I'm very sorry for your loss, but glad for you that you have those memories and always will. By his example, he taught you how to be your own person and how to succeed as a person - perhaps the greatest gift a parent can give their child. In turn, you gave him the gifts of companionship and friendship and love, and pride that he had done his "job" as a father well.

What an awful news. From what you wrote, you had wonderful moments with you father - cherish them as most valued treasures.

Support and prayers for you and your family.

Just wanted you to know I was thinking of you. I hope the poem I sent you brought you some comfort. I really enjoyed the post about your memories of time spent with your dad. Hold those close to your heart forever. Many hugs to you. :rose:
