Rich, I'm very sorry for your loss, but glad for you that you have those memories and always will. By his example, he taught you how to be your own person and how to succeed as a person - perhaps the greatest gift a parent can give their child. In turn, you gave him the gifts of companionship and friendship and love, and pride that he had done his "job" as a father well.RJMasters said:... My dad was a good man, though he'd be the first to tell you that he had his faults. He knew this was coming and he visited not too long ago. We all sat down to dinner together and he looked around at my family and then at me and said...son I love you and I am proud of you. I told him I loved him too and was glad he had always been my dad.
In the years I grew up, he often worked two jobs to make sure we could have a place to live and enough to eat. He was also creative and was a writer. He wrote many great stories that captured my imagination. JRR Tolken has always been his and my favorite author.
His wisdom was a mixture of understanding and common sense.
When he was younger and throughout his life, he loved to go fishing. These were among the best times in my life growing up spending time fishing with my dad. Later I introduced him to golf...lol. He got hooked and every time I would go visit we would go play a round together....
~Rich

Typewritten words feel so empty right now but it is the best I can do. I am sorry for your loss and understand what you are feeling... if you need an ear or a hug I am here for you as you have been for me many times in the past.RJMasters said:My dad died.
