At sea.

OOC: The bubble is not around Kain. And like Rockingham said, everyone has a weakness. I'll leave that to you to figure out, but here's a hint: Kain was stupid as a man. Now he is a beast with a much smaller head.

Rose

OOC: Sorry all been busy irl....

IC:
Rose moaned slightly, sitting up. The world came back into focus slowly. A harsh movement on her untrained legs, had sent her slamming into a cannon. She reach back to check her head, she could almose FEEL the bones healing, still she came back with blood. She looked around quickly, flinching as her head swam, finally locating "her" group, and seening as something had happened to the othjer ship while she was out...With a sigh she moved shakily towards them....

Ren

IC: Turning my attention away from Kain, I notice Rose returning from wherever she had been. She looked pretty banged up from the looks of it. Leaving Cervantes and Vixens side, I walked over to check on Rose.

Letting her lean on me for support, I turn to Rocky, "You have anymore of that 'medicine' that you gave me?" It tasted like crap, but it couldn't hurt her to atleast try it out.

OOC: I got an email today from a new female member that's interested in joining if we have room. That cool with everyone? I sent her links to the "RPG thoughts" thing to read up on and told her I'd get back to her after I see if it's ok with ya. Why do all the new members email me for advice? lol

OOC:

Renegade... they probably all run to you for advice because you're so all knowing and wonderful... [winks]
As for a new person joining... I guess that's up to Ravenloft as he started this thread... [smiles].. I figure if you can figure out a way to add her to the story reasonably then it shouldn't be a problem though.

Morgoth... what was the point of telling me that the bubble wasn't around you... and then NOT telling me where the bubble was... even your first post was pretty vague... could you tell me where the bubble is then?

OOC

I Just got outta dodge cuz it was getting confusing..*lol* When this whole battle thing is done, I'll come back inna tha Game. *lol*

OOC: Another player is fine by me, just hope she will post reasonably consistently and make sence is all...

Cervantes:

"Do you wish to fight... And die, or will you leave as instructed... FOOL!" Cervantes barks at the offending beast before them, in growing irritation. "I do believe he wishs to die, Little Fox..." He sends into Vixen's mind as he keeps his darkening eyes on the beast.

OOC: The bubble is off the starboard side of the ship and is hovering there. But Kain is standing directly in the way.

IC: Kain growled deeply, and sent his claw lashing out. He threw it off on purpose, and it ripped a hole in the deck just in front of Cervantes.

Cervantes:

Without a word Cervantes attacted Kain. He slashed for his torso, his legs, his back in one blinding, fluid motion. Continuously pressing his attack ever forward, forcing Kain to retreat toward the edge of the ship, or be struck, and cleaved.

Vixen...

followed Cervantes lead... helping to corner and round up Kain... her sharp teeth snapping. Her hackles raised. She wanted blood...

Rockingham hung upside down. He had never been uspide down before, it was a feeling all too new to him. There was a sudden rush as he swayed back and forth from the magical pulley, which despite his best effort hadn't even grazed the big meany. So, after swinging aimslessly he finally decided to let go, hoping to land in the water and come back ashore, but his foot got stuck. He just hung there, a few feet from the ship's floorboards. Breathing in and out in haste, he couldn't find words to describe how he felt.
That was normal though, usually he didn't have words to describe much of anything. When he was thrown overboard once, a huge shark rose close to him. He felt something, an incredible something, something that he didn't think anyone should ever feel. He wanted to run away, but he was in the water... and only swam back to the boat. The shark simply gave him a nod and moved onward. That was odd, because Rocky always thought sharks attacked people. That's what everyone said, sharks attacked people, didn't they? He shrugged his shoulders the best he could, he usually got things wrong. As far as he could tell, the shark was a friendly guy, simply bobbing up and saying hello, before swimming back into the deep. Besides, sharks weren't the ones you had to worry about. Whales, those were the aminals you had to worry about.
There was a story he had read where this guy went chasing after a whale, and eventually everyone died. Someone had told him it had happened on a boat just like this. That made him feel something as well, an uneasiness on the deck. He just couldn't formulate the words to describe it.
Now he couldn't either. Sweat fell in small beads onto the deck below. A slight breeze kept his magical pulley system lofting from side to side. Nothing too far, but he was beginning to feel a little queezy.
Rocky looked up, or rather down. He wasn't sure anymore, he was looking to the crow's nest. What had gone wrong? He was on the right course the plan seemed perfect.
Oh... that's what was wrong. He had made a prfect plan. Rocky sighed, he wished he had more brains. Cervie was so smart, maybe he could give him some brains someday, after they were co-captains of the ship and all. He would like to sit somewhere, and just think about things. It didn't matter what they were, he would sit comfortably and think think think forever.
Now it simply looked like he would be hanging upside down forever. He looked up, everyone seemed so busy in fighting the meany. It looked like he would be here for a while. He would have to keep himself company. Looking over at the small ship, he realized his dolls were so close, yet so far away from him.
Glancing back he saw the young woman. He smiled politely, even in such a situation as he was in, he always stayed polite, especialy to pretty women.
"Hello," he said trying to reach out his hand, he did a poor handshake, "You aren't fighting like the others..."
He saw she was hurt.
"Oh.. I'm sorry. Don't worry, that happens to me a lot too, I usually stay in bed for a week before I get better. It's good though, sometimes Cervie makes me ice cream, but he isn't very careful with it. He usually drops it on my lap or on my head. I keep telling him to be careful, but he never learns. I am careful most of the time, especially when it comes to food. There was one time when I..."
Rocky's eyes brighten, "Your a hairy monster aren't you? I remember the eyes. Cervie and the other woman have eyes just like that, like... like..."
Like a predator, hunting, prowling for a meal. It's lip's drenched in saliva searching to appease his apettite,
"... like a hairy monster."
Rocky swore he had a thought just then. He had missed it though, he tried to grab for it desperately. A meal, something about a meal and lips. He shook his head, nope, whatever was there was gone.
"Anyway," he continued, "Your a hairy monster, aren't you? I have something here," he took out the grey conatiner, "There you go, but only take a tablespoon of it. Too much will make you fall asleep for a long time, it happened to a friend of Cervie's once. Don't let anyone else drink it though, even me. It only works on hairy monsters, but I'm sure it will help what you have, I'm sure of it."
She had such a pretty smile.

At one leap, kain picked up both Cervantes and Vixen, and smashed them into each other, before he dropped them. He raised his foot to crush Vixen, but she scrambled away, leaving a gaping hole in the floor. "The other werebeast gave up so quickly", taunted Kain, "But when he saw I wasn't going to let him live, he fought. And a lot harder than both of you!" he shouted, his paw smashing into Cervante's midsection. Kain's claw barely missed him.

Cervantes:

Dodging backward from Kain's claw swipe, Cervantes launched forward, his katana sheathed itself deep into Kain's gut, penetrating through the other side. He kept Kain on the end of his sword, completely run through, charging him back toward the edge of the ship. With a grunt he slammed Kain into the railing. "I gave you the opportunity to leave my ship of your own accord..." Cervantes yanked his blade from Kain's gut. He caught Kain under the chin with an elbow, making him lean precariously along the railing. In the same fluid motion that he struck under Kain's chin, Cervantes whirled about and caught Kain in the chest with a solid kick, flipping him over the railing and into the fridgid water.

OOC: Just want to let everyone know real fast, the new member is still interested in joining. But, I told her to wait till we get this Kain thing taken care of first and move on a bit from this part we've been stuck in before joining the thread.

OOC: Thank you, Ravenloft! That was just what I needed. Don't think that I'm saying that Kain is better, either. I mean, you could have killed him with the katana if you had cut more to the side.

Kain roared in pain, but ripped a hole into the side of the ship, and put another one into it with his other paw. He kept his hands inside the holes, but then leapt up over the railing, blood streaming from his wound. His hand flew forward, but millimeters in front of Cervante's throat, it stopped. It hit Kain harder than the Katana just had. He had been tricked. He growled deeply. Then he changed back to human form, in the process, his wound healed. "Ummm... I'm sorry to say this, Cervantes, but it seems that this has been a misunderstanding. You see, I just realized this. The man who hired me never wanted me to kill you. Or bring you back. He didn't know about my werebeast amulet. And no Mercenary I know of can kill me, so he hired me, thinking that you would slay me. And almost did, too. But he has double-crossed me, and therefore his contract is void. Since I almost killed you, and would have, had I not realized my mistake, I now owe my life to you. Therefore, I would like to join you", declared Kain boldly.

Cervantes:

Giving Kain an odd look, Cervantes shrugged. "If you want to stay aboard this ship... I think the cabin boy has had a rough day today." Cervantes shot Rocky a glance. "See to it that he doesn't have to lift a finger for the rest of the day and you may stay. Am I understood?" Not really waiting for a responce, Cervantes went over to Vixen, setting a hand on her shoulder. "Calm, little fox, calm..." He sent into her mind. Looking up at Kain one last time Cervantes said. "Start with swabing the deck, you made a rather bloody mess of it..." Cervantes started to wheel Vixen back to his cabin.

"Yes", said Kain, shooting Rocky a look. It didn't mean anything, but he used it to take in the whole ship for the first time. He grabbed a mop and began to swap the deck, making sure the blood went overboard.

Rose

Rose watched silently as the things around her were resolved. Her hand still gripped Ren's arm tightly. The powder Rocky had given her was working, but she felt like she was gonna puke or pass out still. She felt Ren disengage himself a moment to lower Rocky to the deck. Then the deck rushed to meet her as she collapsed.

OOC: Hope you didn't me moving you a bit Ren...if ya did, yell...*cowers*

Ren

OOC: No prob, Rose. I don't mind people writing on my behalf to move the thread along. :)

IC: Turning my attention back to the thud sound behind me, I turn just in time to see Rose collapse onto the wooden deck of the ship. Raising an eyebrow in her direction, I slowly made my way towards her out of concern. Kneeling down to her side, I check her pulse to make sure her heart beat was ok. It was going kinda fast, but seemed to be normal other then that.

Without looking back at Rocky, I tell him, "I believe she'll be ok. Not sure if it was the medication, or the blow to the head from before, but she's just knocked out."

Brushing a lock of hair out of Rose's eyes, her face shows me the first look of peace that I'd ever seen on her in all the time we knew each other. Sighing slightly to myself, I lift her up into my arms and hold her tightly against me.

"Looks like you've had a rough day, Rose." I mutter more to myself then anyone else as I begin to carry her away. She was going to need some rest before we reached the next town or run into any other ships.

*He sat against a wall, now visable to them, his eyes staring outward over the sea, his cloak gathered around him, his breathing soft and rythmic, he wondered, wondered why the one who was attacking gave up so easily, he sighed, he was weak, thinking he was so powerful, trying to take on such a mighty beast, it was insanity, and he just hated that sometimes, He looked to him now, as he swabbed the deck, he chuckled softly, knowing he wasnt doing all that great a job, But not saying anything, his eyes soft, he held his hands together, right in his lap, he watched them all with incresing intrest, his eyes low whenever on Vixen, She commanded a great respect he knew somehow...though he didnt remember much...Just how to fight, and Vixen was a great person, and he should follow her, but he didnt know why, He sighed softly, staring out to see*

ever onwards I shall go...Beyond the Seas and Lands I know...Waiting for that day, when I shall find what i am searching for....a life...a dream...a pourpose...A hope..A Cause...These I wish I could find...But they escape me evermore...

*He smiles briefly, remembering the passage from somthing, Wishing he remembered where it was from...His soft eyes lowered and kind, he wondered more....He heard foot steps approaching, he looked up with soft, curious eyes ,wondering who it was..*

In all his life he had never felt so great a pain. His shoulder now cast a throbbing shooting sensation up his entire arm and into his head. It hurt so bad, he couldn't hardly move. Blood was draining from the hole still left in his shoulder, as well as a few other places. He felt like he was going to puke or die or something. All of the pain came to him so fast.
Cervie had told him he didn't have to lift a finger though, that was good for him, because all of his fingers hurt too much to lift. He tried, and shooting pains came through him. This was worse than the time he tried to pet that jelly fish. Jelly fish were very mean when it came to petting them, they must have tender skin. Rocky would have been that way too if he was swimming along and someone tried to pet him.
He glanced up, looking around. Everyone was gone. Why was everyone gone? He couldn't see anyone. They all left, probably to bed or something. Oh no, he almost began to cry in dismay, that means he would have to lift a finger. More than a finger, he would have to lift his hand, his feet, and even his bad shoulder. He wished he had some special stuff from that grey container, he knew it wouldn't work on him, but maybe if he somehow made an unhairy monster version everything would be ok.
Wincing, Rocky stood up. He could actually feel every muscle in his body scream at him. Well, maybe they weren't screaming, but they were doing something because he could feel all of them. Probably singing, he knew it hurt when people sang sometimes. They were singing and it hurt.
In one swift motion, he stepped onto his feet, and grabbed the side for support. That was his bad arm though, he protected it, shifting around so his other arm could take the weight. His bad one began to bleed again, he wasn't certain when it had stopped, but it as back. A small patter of drops fell to the floor.
Rocky simply stopped, breathing for a minute. He never knew standing up could take so much out of a person. Had he been hurt that bad? He was shot with an arrow, hit in the head several times, kicked in the stomache, fell onto the floor, and somehow in all of that he had managed to jump onto a magical pulley only to have his other shoulder get... something, it hurt as well, although not as bad as the other one. He then fell to the floor again, this time with a pulley landing on him. It was a wonder he could get up at all. With all these things happening in such a short period of time, it was a true wonder. Rocky couldn't stop to think about wonder though, he wanted to go play with his toys and then to sleep. He walked... no he limped slightly over to the small boat, grabbing his two dolls. There was a small drop of blood on one.
Thats when it hit him, this all could have been avoided. There didn't have to be any death's, or hurt or pain, or anything. Tyranny and irrogance made people into inhuman monsters, that was the truth. Not monsters like Cervie, those kinds were monsters of fate and physicality, there was no telling what a monster of society looked like. They could be a neighbor or a sea-faring friend, but in the end money and power corrupts their evil heart to a small black insignificant piece of cow dung which isn't even fit for impudent strumpets to walk in.
Rocky picked up Mr. Hairy. WAIT! He was certain that time, it was a thought. One full and complete thought had entered his mind and he had kept it, and expanded it. He was sure of it. He had to keep it, he simply had to...
No!
He had lost it, something about people and hearts and oh he didn't know what. He needed to learn how to write, so he could write down these thoughts. He knew a little of how to write, but only a few words, and his name... ROKY.
Limping to bed, Rocky wondered if he could ever really get to think. Then maybe one day he could take a pretty girl in his arms and kiss her and dance with her all night long. Thats probably what they were doing in their rooms, kissing and dancing, just like nothing had ever happened. HE had to admire Cervie and the other guy, they would always get the girl, no matter what happened. They were in there, and he was out here. That's how it was, and he supposed that's how it will always be.
Besides, they had the power of the hairy monster, they could make themselves better. Rocky had the power of rest, and some doll playing. That's what made him feel better, at least he hoped so. It had only really worked for stomach owies before, he had never tried to heal bones shoulders and head hurts. He would try though, lots of playing and lots of sleep, that's what he needed.
Maybe a kiss every now and then couldn't hurt either.

Cervantes:

Laying Vixen in his bed, smiling down at her, he leaned in and kissed her lips. "Sleep little fox, I have some buisness to attend to..." And with that Cervantes left his cabin, closing the door behind him.

"Cabin bo... Rocky!" Cervantes called out, his voice sharp. He spied Rocky struggling about. "Below deck with you boy!" Cervantes hissed as he marched with an irritated stride. "I will have word with you!"

He scooped an arm up under Rocky's arm, supporting him. Shooting Kain a look as he started down the stairs to storage he said. "Direct this ship to the nearest port."

Cervantes:

Looking over his shoulder in annoyance at Kain. "Yes, you, if we are not heading to port by the time Rocky and I return from below I will be quite irate."

The Young Rolando (Has no name he knows..)

*silently he slips into cervantes cabin, closing the door he walks over to the bed, his green and black robes flowing around him, the hilt of a blade protruding from one side, his eyes soft and his hair swept back, he kneels by the bed, his head lowered in a sort of bow position* Lady vixen..*he speaks in a clear, humble tone, in a bowed position, his eyes lowered* Are you alright Good lady...
