I really think they should read "Tropical Storm" names.

I'm just a purist. And I like strawberry blondes and red haired girls. Is one on the list?

This storm was a direct result of the bumper peach crop to come in Georgia and South Carolina. Pay backs are a bitch.

Has it really been 10 years since Florida's had a hurricane?

Yes, The U.S. Is On A Historic Lucky Streak In Dodging Major Hurricanes

According to NPR:

...That leads to a question: When was the last time a big hurricane hit the U.S.?

It might surprise you, but the country is experiencing a historic, nine-year lucky streak when it comes to major hurricanes.

In fact, the last Category 3 or stronger storm to hit the U.S. happened on Oct. 24, 2005, when Hurricane Wilma made landfall in Florida. (It's worth noting that despite this respite, the U.S. has still seen very costly hurricanes — such as Ike and Sandy — that didn't meet the "major" threshold.)

Phil Klotzbach, a research scientist who helps put out closely watched hurricane predictions at Colorado State University, said the last time you could spot a lull of this kind in recorded history was 1861 to 1868...

EEK! The typhoons we went thru in Taiwan were awful...but fun being a kid! Electricity out for days. We had to tape big X's on all the windows so the glass wouldn't fly everywhere if something hit it.

As kids, of course, they were an adventure! We'd go outside and face the gale winds and sideways rain blowing so hard, it'd sting your face!

We'd fall forward into the wind, and find ourselves being completely held upright by the wind...at least until Mom found us doing this and ordered us back into the house. :D

Christie's declared a state of emergency for jersey already, but there isn't much going on yet. A bit of rain and some minor flooding.

Yep. 2004-2005 was a rough time for Florida. People still talk about Charley, which was before my time. I was here for Tropical Storm Fay. That was fun.

Be careful, everyone!

By the time they make it this far north, they just suck.

Nobody gets killed, just inconvenienced.

Many friends and I are still thinking of our friends back in Taiwan. Typhoon Dujuan lashed them pretty badly.

I lived there for 5 years and have been thru many.

We'd have to tape our windows as the debris would smash thru them. Also, I remember having our electricity knocked out for a week!

As a kid, it was all pretty exciting...however, I do remember they were hard work. Staying up all night with every towel in sight, mopping up the water seeping in under the doors.

Hope all my buds are doing ok.

I am in dessicated central California. Send a couple hurricanes this way. We'll suck'em dry, I guarantee it.
