Avatar and Picture Question

I hope this doesn't sound really stupid, but...

A few days ago, I tried to replace my avatar picture with something more recent, but when I removed the old avatar, I couldn't upload a new one. As in, there was no way to do so; no button, nothing. Nothing that even remotely said, "Hey! Click here, if you want to upload a new avatar, ya dope!" - which would be me.

The other question I have is, how do I imbed images into a post? I *KNOW* I've done it before, by clicking on the "Insert Image" button, but when I do that now, all it asks for is text, not an image to upload.

So! ...just how dopey am I?

I see that you only have 55 posts. You have to post 100 times to get the ability to insert an AV. But you said that you tried to replace an old one. Is this the name that you had your AV under with 55 posts?

About the time you first registered, Lit went through an upgrde to the forum software and for about three days, the 100 post limitation on avatars remained unconfigured so you could install a custom avatar with fewer than posts.

Once they got down the list of "things to fix" an reset the avatar post limitation, you could keep an avatar if you have slipped through the window of opportunity, but the post limit wouldn't allow you to change it.

You seem to be one of the few who hasn't accumulated 100 posts so the quirk in timing became irrelevant.

The IMG tags (or insert image button) is for pictures that are hosted on the web someplace and canbe addressed by an unambiguous URL -- the text it's asking for.

To upload an image from your computer, you're limited to the "manage attachments" button, which will only show up as link because of the site management's choice in configuring the forum software to not automtically display attachments.
