IC: Dragon took exception to the fact that he was no longer in the lead. Down went the ears and out came the teeth.
"Don't do it," Muffin warned. Dragon huffed, but heeded the warning.
Cervantes caught her eye and grinned at her, licking his lips and growling. Prurient interest was written all over him. Muffin, feeling a little out of her depth, smiled back at him. Dragon bared his teeth at him.
OCC Whoa fellas I am a bit lost-how did I end with with I am presuming one of Cervantes charms??? I am confused and not sure how to post...heeelllppppppp!
OOC: Before this goes any further, Val, Psycho (When he FUCKING gets here) and I wish to use this thread, and its characters as the basis for a comicbook or even graphic novel for that matter. We ask all of you, Money, stay! DO NOT FUCKING LEAVE We love the plot twist! If we may use your characters for it... Creation credit will go to the characters owners, unless you wish for your names not to be mentioned. (ARE YOU INSANE?!) HEheh! Okay... Carry on...
Ooc: The infamous Vixen, a.k.a. Moneytalks. I thought something had happened to you. It's such a pleasure to see you here again. Are you back... for real back?
Rocky jumped off the horse as soon as he heard they were slowing down. He could keep up with the rest of them, and still was able to watch the forest past him. It was so beautiful, green trees, and broad leaves that left a wonderous canopy. He couldn't help but breath in a big gulp of air, taking it all in.
On a fallen and decaying log was a squirrel, cleaning himself. Rocky moved up beside him, watching him closely.
He paused, looking back at the others, they weren't paying attention. He held out his hand. The squirrel gave it one glance, and jumped right in. Rocky petted it playfully.
"I'll name you Paul," he said. Paul seemed happy with his name. It was a good name. A proud squirrel.
He emerged out of the forests, following some distance. Cervie didn't seem to notice him much. He always had a good knack with animals, they just liked him. He couldn't help it. Cervie didn't like it very much.
One time he tried to smuggle his pet elephant Billy on board. That didn't go over very well. From that point on he wasn't allowed to have pets anymore, but it was just a little squirrel.
He made sure he was still at a distance, keeping the squirrel in his hands.
OOC: Rockingham... pleasure to be back... and added pleasure to see Rocky again... [grins]. Yup... I am back for real... and I've sooo missed writing with you guys! Let the party continue! [yippeee!]
Ravenloft... I've had similar ideas about making a comic of sorts and would love to see you guys pull it off! [grins]
IC: Vixen's eyes narrowed as she urged her mount to increase it's pace. The clatter of the men's armour behind her was starting to seriously irritate her. She'd taken up this job for the main reason she took up most jobs... the money... and the Lord who had hired her really really had a lot of money. She sniffed the air again and growled. It was a low animal-like growl that made the men behind her shiver.
"God damn Cervantes..." she hissed. Her mare whinnied with afront at the sudden vicious handling she was receiving as Vixen forced her to change direction. With abrupt silent hand signals she indicated two of the men should continue along the trail while she and the other when into the trees.
"I'm gonna kill that son-of-a-bitch..." she growled.
"M'Lady..." the second-in-charge spoke up as they manouvered as quickly as they were able between the trees... "M'Lord Malvort specifically requested the girl be brought back to him in one piece..."
Vixen stopped abruptly. She turned her piercing stare towards the man. He gulped visibly beneath his helmet. She straightened as she looked him over. Her long silky dark hair pulled back severely in a long braid down her back only emphasizing her dramatic features. She wasn't exactly beautiful but she was striking. She smiled suddenly. Her teeth dazzling and her laugh throaty. "Of course... she will be delivered... but he won't stop me from having a little fun along the way..." she jerked the reigns and they pushed onwards. Cutting across the woods on an angle that would place them closer to her prey.
Within the forest, Valdimer slowed his horse down to a walk. Looking back to the rest he said " A cabin is not far from here, maybe another 10 to 20 minutes, at the pace we're going now. Everyone can relax." Pullng his horse alongside Muffin, keeping pace with her, he gave a sideways glance and spoke. "How long has it been since you last saw your sister? And why on darmus did she run off with your uncle?" Pulling some rations and a waterskin from a saddlebag, he ate, listening to what Muffin had to say. As she spoke, his eyes followed the length of her body, from feet to the top of her head, absorbing all he saw. Agian, realizing his gawking, he turned his head to the road, feeling the blood rush to his face as he did so. "The cabin shouldnt be to far now....." he trailed off, slowly eating his rations.
Something clicked when Dragon gave his challenge, and Cervantes gave as good as he got, going into a tyrade of spits and growls, contesting over the female... Flashing a lustful look toward Muffin between the HORSEshit he and Dragon were carrying on...
Suddenly going pale as he took in a nice big whiff of air for his next grunt... He smelled something VERY familiar... And it sent the hairs aback his neck to end! He started whiping his head about to scour the imediate area for its source, but saw nothing. It was only getting stronger... He didn't like it... The smell that belonged to was a creature far FAR worse than any wife... He visibly shivered...
"Rocky!" He shouted, his voice cracking. The boy was at his side in a flash, tucking the squirrel in his pants at the last moment... Coudn't risk having it seen, he knew what Cervie did to squirrels... He THUMPED THEM!
"Forest... Smell... Crocuta! Go!!! Find!!! Errr!!!!!" Cervantes shrieked in desperation, fear clogging the words in his brain. It only got worse as the smell grew stronger... He could almost taste her intentions on the breeze... And it chilled him to the bone...
He followed suit to Val, wheeling his horse along side Muffin, practically sandwiching her between the two of them. "A... A cabin huh?" Cervantes couldn't stop shaking... "Is... Is it sturdy?" He wiped sweat from his brow as he joined Val's perusal of Muffin's body, fear didn't do much to kill his lusts, it, in fact made him cling to them, they were, after all, the only things he UNDERSTOOD!
Dragon was highly cheesed. This, this, this man-creature dared to rise to his challenge. This would have to be dealt with. As soon as he could figure out how to get Muffin to quit jerking on his reins like that. Bloody female.
Muffin jerked on the reins to stop Dragon before they ran into the walls of the dilapidated cabin. She'd been too busy eyeing Cervantes, who was apparently trying to talk to Dragon in tongues or something.
"My Uncle has a way of getting Gwen in trouble," she told Valdimer in response to his question. She dismounted and stretched luxuriously. Nothing like making the spine extend after a long, hard ride. "Gwen, she's smart and something of an adventuress. She's gone off to find something for him, and she didn't know about M- the trouble that's following us. I have to find her, and soon."
Cervantes stepped closer, only to find Dragon's hideous, yellow horse teeth in his face. Nothing quite like the fetid smell of Dragonbait's breath.
Rocky nodded at Cervie's request... or what he thought was a request. It was just a few words muttled together in anger. Rocky made his way back into the forest, taking the squirrel out of his pants. Paul was shaken a little bit, but otherwise all right. Whew... saved.
Something was oddly wrong about that female they were traveling with, although Rocky couldn't quite put his finger on it. Cervie and that other guy stuck to her like glue, oodling over her, like she was a piece of meat or something. Cervie kept licking his lips when he looked at her, and that other guy just stared at her.
Rocky shrugged his shoulders, probably just things that grown ups worried about. He wasn't a grown up, so he didn't have to worry about it.
A familiar odor caught his nose. He sniffed, trying to recognize it. Something very familiar... and friendly. He set the squirrel down, running ahead. The fur on the squirrel was messing with him. He took a big whiff.
"VIXEN!!!" He cried, jumping for joy. His friend Vixen. He hadn't seen her in so long, not since that time Cervie practcally threw her off his ship. It wasn't a very friendly goodbye, no wonder Cervie was so angry at this smell. Rocky couldn't wait though. He had so many stories to tell, and he would tell them all too.
He could hear hoofbeats. More than one person. He sniffed the air again, catching the scents. No, no one he recognized, just a couple of people riding along with her.
Paul jumped up onto his shoulder. Rocky ger her a little pat on the head, before watching the road ahead. He could see the impending horses.
Vixen was almost here.
A lone sorcerer was sitting alone in his cabin with the only friends he enjoys, his books. Although that nagging noise out in the woods sounded like a bunch annoying adventurers. "Always when I begin a new book some idiots say "Hey let's head out into the forset and disturb everything" he mumbles to himself. They sounded like some city folk who wouldn't know an elf from their own ass, and the most bothersome part was that they sounded like they were drawing near. Hopefully they will look at the cabin and think no one lives there and move on; like last time. The sorcerer just sat there waiting for them to pass, "Damn they are taking a long time." he again mumbled.
knew she was close now. She sniffed the air again and noted a slight change. She couldn't help but grin. Not even bothering to slow her horse she swung herself out of the sadle and lept off landing softly on the ground before Rocky... and some sort of rodent that seemed to be shadowing him.
She didn't speak... but she did offer him a grim smile of sorts. Her mare and the knight riding with her slowed to a halt near her.
Rocky was about his job, he knew what was coming for him, and it scared the shit out of him, but he played it cool... He came up to Dragon, patting his black silk gloved hand upon the beasts cheek. "There there, lil one, she's not your type..." He whispered. "Hell she's not really my type either, but she looks good to me..." He added to add insult to injury for the poor beast. Smiling wickedly, Cervantes offered his hand to help Muffin from her horse.
... patted Rocky awkwardly on the shoulder. Her gaze was distracted as she looked past him though. HE was close. Her eyes narrowed. She flung back her head and let forth a howl that made the two horses rear up in fright.
She turned her gaze to Rocky... again the smile... "where is he?" She asked her voice deceptively calm...
Rocky gave Vixen a big smile, watching her display. She had such a pretty smile, when she looked at him, he felt the whole world drown away.
He threw a big hug over her. He missed her so much. She was the only person who spent time with him as one of Cervie's passenger's. Now she was back, he wouldn't let her leave, he just wouldn't.
"I'm glad your back," he said, but his tone changed, "I don't think Cervie wants to see you. He told me he didn't want to see you or talk to you, at least he said that in so many words. It's hard to tell what Cervie wants anymore. I don't understand grown up things sometimes, you know? They are so complicated."
His eyes sparkled, remembering old times, "Remember when I couldn't understand things sometimes, and you would spend hours explaining it. I am sorry that I was always so slow with everything."
He looked at the road ahead. She still wanted to see Cervie, he could see it in her eyes.
"I honestly don't know where they went, they followed this trail and said they were going to a cabin, that's all I know."
IC Gwen sat in the gloam, smelling the crushed ferns around her. Hoping not to attract any attention she slowed her breathing down, down, until she scarcely moved at all.
"Where are ye,you raggedy bitch-come out or I will make it ten times worse."The rank smell of her uncle pervaded the glen, his words underscored by the metallic shriek of his short dagger pulling free of his belt.
Closing her eyes, Gwen fought the revulsion at his existence, and wished she could wipe his odor from her body. The bracken covered her, and he was so sotted that his hunting ability was affected. His drunken cursing and stumbling would have normally brought a smile but his knife and the threats that lay with it were all to real.
Gwen lay so still, not a baby rabbit scared of the hunter-more like a snake waiting for it's prey to tire itself out. In her fists were clenched hooked thorns that had been dipped in an herbal tincture. Lady Foxglove and Mistress Morning Glory-together they would bring even on ogre down-for a short time.
Gwen thought of her sweet sister, Muffin, and hoped to join her soon-but first this uncle-not a real threat but a time wasting danger. She could not afford a knife wound it would make it all too easy to track her then. Eyes closing to mere slits-the waiting had begun each hour that passed brought her prey closer and closer. A reptilian quality crept over her still body and lidded eyes, and she waits. She waits.
Right in the middle of helping Muffin from her horse, Cervantes jumped, Vixen's howl cut through the forest. Without a thought, Cervantes droped muffin, and she fel,l with a thud, to the ground. Cervantes was up a tree, hiding, before Muffin could even get back to her feet.
"If you don't come out... Brat! I'll have to whip you within an inch of yer life! I swear it!" Gwen's uncle slurred as he wiped his lips dry, the dagger glinting light as its blade shifted ever so slightly from the action. He took another step forward, careful not to stumble. Gwen could see the old and worn leather boots he wore creeping closer to her now...
"Ah, finally, the cabin." Val spoke, more to himself, than anyone. Gliding off his horse, Val let the riens fall, and looked to Cervantes and Muffin, to see that they too were following suit. "Were's Rocky?" he said, looking quiziclly at Cevantes. "You should really keep an eye on him Cervie, the type of shit roaming around in these forests. Lets hope he makes it here before dark." With a slight worried look about him, Valdimer made his way to the door. Would Aristus remember me? Will he still hold a grudge for when I left him in that dungeon? God, I hope not, Val thought to himself. With a loug gulp, Valdimer knocked his hand agianst the door. With a startling swing, the door flung open, and there stood Aristus, locked eye to eye with Valdimer.........
... her mouth twitched with remember amusement at her attempts to explain things to Rocky... she had tried everything... he was just... in capable of looking at the world the way she or say even Cervantes did. She sighed... allowing herself to hug the boy/man back.
"Well then... " she allowed herself to smile at him again... she just couldn't help but lend him a smile... "we should catch up with him... Cervantes may have said he didn't want to see me... but I really want to see Cervantes... and just think... you are happy to see me yes?" She smiled again... Rocky nodded in agreement... "well.. if you feel happy.. why shouldn't Cervantes feel happy too?" She smiled again... this time her eyes gleamed with almost palatable pleasure as she imagined just what kind of feeling Cervantes should be experiencing on seeing her.
She easily mounted her mare and reached down to pull Rocky up behind her. The three of them followed the path... soon seeing an almost hidden clearing in which stood a cabin.
"Ahh..." Vixen sighed... "yesssss...." the affirmative stretching out to ecompass way more meaning that a mere word should possibly imply.
Sniffing the air, Cervantes whimpered, she was coming, it was inevitable... In a flash, Cervantes had hopped down from the tree and bolted for the open door to the cabin. He didn't care if he had to bowl through Valdimer to do so, it was a sturdy enough looking structure, but for the windows... No no no, this wouldn't do, Vixen could leap right through these things... He ignored all shouts of outrage over having barged in as he had and searched for planks of wood to secure over the windows. The resemblance between Cervantes at this moment and a tail tucked dog were unmistakeable... He was even mewling like one...
"Ah, Valdimer" Aristus said as flatly as possible. " What a pleasant surprise." he said without looking up. Aristus was a tall, thin man with long gray hair and many years added to his face ( mostly due to frustration of other "stupid wizards" and years of indoor study). He claimed to be a wizard but oddly enough never carried more than one book and never used any components to cast a spell.
"I assume that this isn't a social call." Aristus stated. After a minute he looked up a Val, this man wasn't here for more than anything that suited himself and/or gave himself a shit load of money.
"I hope he doesn't want help, the last time I helped him I had to learn Cure Serious Wounds." Aristus thought to himself.
After his dreaded thought about Val this crazed freak ran in and started boarding up his windows. "What in the name of Melf's Acid Arrows are you doing!?!" Aristus screamed. But the crazy little man just kept running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. (He looked like something that resembled a chicken anyway).
"This is going to be on of the longest days of my life" Aristus groaned.
Rocky got up on Vixen's horse. He had tried his best to stop her, but he didn't know what to do. She was his friend, so he couldn't lie to her. Cervie was his friend too though, he could let him down.
Stuck between a Rocky and a hard place.
The cabin came into view. Rocky hugged Vixen tighter as they came. He knew a lot more than he sometimes wanted too.
"You aren't going to hurt him, are you?" he asked, getting down. He was looking for a truthful answer.
