Back pain, maybe kidney infection

Betticus said:
And the pain is not just below the ribs, it's lower back like right at the top of the pelvic bone, both sides hurt like mad but the right is much worse.
I'm not a doctor, but I like to put on a white jacket and play one in the evenings when I've got a naked subbie with me.

Still if the pain is that low, would that be kidneys? Sounds too low for kidneys, but I'm only a professional at certain times of the day, and that time hasn't yet started.

To me, it sounds more like you've injured a disk or maybe your siatic nerve has been pinched. That is not a fun time, in itself, but not as serious as kidneys, infection or stones.

If it's siatica, you might experience pain shooting down your leg, even down to your toes. It's difficult to even lay still, because it hurts so much, and walking is near impossible without shooting pains.

In the beginning, the main pain is in the back, right below your belt line, and can be on either side or both sides. But, the shooting pains come as you move around. And, talk about pain, it's very high on my list of being extreme. I had trouble sleeping without pain pills.

Well, I'm taking my white jacket off now, so be sure and tell us what the final prognosis is.

OH, and to the more educated in this area, I once heard it's possible to use ultra sound to pulveraize a kidney stone. Is this something I must have made up or is it only done in cases where the stone is large or what?

There is a procedure to break up the stones but I can't remember what it's called without going and searching through my school books. If I remember correctly it doesn't break them up totally but makes them much much smaller and thus easier (and less painful) to pass but doesn't eliminate the pain entirely. Or so I was told by my teachers.

Well, it isn't an infection. The test for that is negative, she's thinking kidney stones or back spasms. Either way, I have to go in for a ct scan in the morning.

Is it constant pain that started with stabs of sharp pain like a bad cramp or pulled muscle? Not to be gross but is your pee getting dark? It still sounds like the pancreas, it sits in front of the kidney. They just assume stones or infection or gall bladder before the pancreas. The scan should tell them. I had something like that after new years and they never did figure it out before it healed but I took cipro and pain pills and anti inflamitories for 2 weeks. Good Luck
Get some milk thistle and some devils claw drops, they help.**

** All that is just my personal opinion from having a pain like that, not medically backed just what happened to me.

CT results came back. I have gallstones, an enlarged liver and an enlarged spleen.

Chick says I probably will have to have the gallbladder removed. I have to go in for an ultrasound to find out how bad it really is now.

Fuck!

Yikes!!!! You better be ok, I can't afford to be there yet. But you should probably write down somewhere that if you die, I get your cameras...because yeah, mine.

I know you're upset, but I'm relieved. I can't loose another friend to kidney failure. It hurt to bad last time. *hugs*

Gallstones suck but the surgery to have the gallbladder removed is pretty simple if they can do it laproscopically, all you'll end up with then is three little scars. Two of mine have faded into almost nothing and the is ledd than half an inch long. The recovery time was only like two weeks. If they have to really cut you open however the recovery time jumps to nearly two months and most of that will be on your back because you just won't be able to move much. If they decide they don't have to take it out you may have to majorly modify your diet instead or you'll end up having more of the attacks like you have been.

Not sure what the treatment for liver and spleen enlargement are...anyone else know?

I've never heard of enlarged liver and spleen before! Congrats you're the first person I've heard this from! I hope everything goes better! :rose:

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone. You guys and gals are so sweet.

They gave me some big horse pills earlier. Darvoset. Some kind of narcotic painkiller. It still hurts but now the pain is just tasty, not over the edge.

I'm glad you have some painkillers, but man, kindeys are nothing to wait on. They go so quickly.

PS: Sorry about not saying you were hot in that other thread. I really didn't recognize you. Still don't after revisiting the picture.

Darvoset's not bad. Wish I could remember what they gave me when I was in the hospitol with gallstones. I left me totally lucid but made every muscle in my body relaxed and killed all the pain. Drugs can be soooooooo very nice sometimes lol.

Am sorry to hear your still in pain though Betticus, have they given you any more information yet?

The pimp suit pic is a little off. There are two other pics though in my profile. I just couldn't resist the pimp suit one. It was taken at a private party the evening of the Players Ball in Vegas. I was out there for an internet porn convention.

I saw the NP earlier. She said it might be either an infection, back spasm or kidney stone. Prolly the damn stone but I'm hoping that it's not.

Also, the nurse gave me two shots in the ass. One in each cheek. One was an anti-inflammatory and the other was a muscle relaxer.

It's making me a little loopy and foggy. My back still fucking hurts though. No painkillers until she finds out exactly what it is that is the problem.

I hope she at least asked you to bend over in a sexy voice for those shots

:( Gallbladder removal isn't that bad, actually. My mom had to have hers removed several years ago.

Sucks that it has to go, but at least they found out before anything ruptured.

Gallbladder removal is nothing.

I've had the procedure done twice. Toughen up wimpy!

I thought you only have one gallbladder? How can you have it removed twice?

He was giving Betticus a hard time. It's a Marquis vs Betticus pissing match. It's been going on for a bit.

Hi Betticus!

Sorry to hear about all this.

*hugs*

Wish I could see your profile pic at CollarMe.com but anyway...Darvoset is my very best-est drug! It's a nice little buzz but you still get to feel like you are still sharing the same reality as everyone else, not like morphine!

I'll be tossing positive thoughts your way!

Fury :rose:

I have had back spasms

One summer I drove a motorized tourist trolley that ran from the hotels in the south end of town to the Old Town district at the north end of town. The drivers seat was angled back a bit too far for me and wasn't very adjustable. By the end of the summer I had to quit because my back got so bad that one morning I woke up and it hurt to breathe. I had to take slow shallow breaths until I got in to see the Doc at a local walk in clinic. It took several weeks for the kinks in my back and ribs to loosen up enough for me to take a deep breath.

That was when I discovered that muscle relaxants and codiene go well together. It was also when I discovered that I probably shoudl not take codiene any more, even though I had taken it years before for other painful situations. I just liked it too damn much. And the control freak streak I have in me said, "thou shalt not let mood altering substances control your actions."

Like everone else it it hurts to the point of severe pain/changes color/swells when it is an area not made to swell, it is time to see a professional. It's a win win situation, if nothing is wrong, you get ease of mind, if something IS wrong, hopefully it has been caught when treatment is fast easy and less expensive.

Hmmm... that's probably why recreational drugs never appealed to me...

I got the results of the bloodwork and the ultrasound back today. The gallstones aren't the problem right now, it's the fucking kidney stone that is causing the pain. They found yet more shit though. My blood platelet count is less than half of the lowest end of normal so I'm anemic too. Liver readings are off and I have the enlarged liver and spleen and the thyroid is still out of the normal range.

So now I get to quit drinking, start eating red meat, finally quit smoking and be really good to myself.

Since I have to quit drinking I figured that a couple of last drinks with friends wouldn't hurt. Now I know why the label on the bottle of painkillers says do not consume alcohol. At one point while I was in the club the carpet reached up and grabbed my shoe. So I guess Darvoset and alcohol can cause hallucination.

If I end up having to have the gallbladder removed one of my Domme friends from Colorado is going to come down and take care of me.

being anemic doesn't mean you need red meat :(

Just means you need more iron. I didn't know that platelet count had anything to do with anemia...I thought it was redbloodcells and hemoglobin ( I have low hemoglobin) Man, you're body is just having issues! Hope it all turns out ok, it sounds reallly sucky. :(

It's okay. I'm gonna go to the health food store and see if I can find organically raised, grass fed beef. Maybe some buffalo too. I'll also have to look at other stuff as well.
