...the cod liver oil has some laxative effects, and on here in 1920/30's it was really used by the fascist regimen as a kinda of soft mild punishment (among far more cruel others ) against political opponents..... then in 1940 WWWII started, the fascism joined to nazism in that large scale horror and even the methods against political opponents become far worse than compulsory administering of cod liver oil ...... but that is History
