Why do the bovines not want to ban contraceptives which have leached into the watershed and are impacting fish and amphibians?

Here's the thing- Canada is banning "harmful" single-use plastics, not ALL single-use plastics. So yes, I support that. What I don't support is this growing trend of trying to ban ALL single-use plastics.

Because I'm fucked up. I don't make enough blood to sustain my body and I've talked about that before. Also, I'm caring for two elderly grandparents. If we go back to washing out glass syringes and using those glass bottles instead of IV bags, people are going to die. People are going to get blood infections. We're going to see a HUGE uptick in casualties.

Plastic is just better for most medical shit, it just is. There's a REASON we replaced rubber and glass, and that reason is because using plastic, and in particular using single-use plastic, for that kind of shit saves lives. I know we're supposed to hate plastic and leave a better world for our kids and all that, but literally, without exaggeration, without single-use plastic I would be dead.

It's really rare that I'm all, "Nah, y'all I'm actually with Big Petrol on this one" but I don't forget people who saved my life. So yeah, like use a paper straw and wrap your meat in butcher paper but leave the IV bags, syringes, medical tubing and whatnot the hell alone. We legitimately need it. Find a way to recycle it or someshit but don't take it away.

It's cheaper than petroleum here in the states because we grow a fuckton of corn, so a lot of places will probably buy it from us. It's basically the high-fructose corn-syrup of plastic. Except they'll probably actually recycle it.

Corn requires more pesticides than other crops. Bugs love corn as much as humans.

For example, I've read articles that talk about how it is more harmful to our climate to recycle aluminum (because of the energy requirements to re-refine it) than it is to extract raw material and make new aluminum products.

We got a "fact sheet" from our trash guys (WCA) recently. They said it costs them money to recycle plastic, paper and glass but when we recycle aluminum we more than pay for the cost of other recyclables.
