Actually, I think that if the bristles were soft, you could certainly use the bristle side down, if you were into more intense sensation.

so far, i've been using the bristle-side on the clit (it feels waay better that way) and i haven't had any problems...there have been a couple of instances where if I pressed it too hard into the clit, it hurt a bit but for that i just use the back of the toothbrush...
