A clarification:

It's not what you are doing, it's what the sites hosting thepictures are doing. It's called "hotlink protection" and many sites use it to insure that the pictures they host aren't used on other sites -- like Literotica.

Geocities, angelfire, and many other free hosting sites use hotlink protection to limit the amount of bandwidth they're giving away for free.

Well, thanks so very much, Wicked Woman and Weird Harold.

I was about to give up on seeking any advice in here. Everything you both said makes perfect sense now. Just that I have so many pictures saved that I'd like to add to my Lit messages so they'll open up immediately rather than have others download them in that little pesky area.

Any suggestions as to how I can do such a thing? Are there any links to non-hotlink sites that can host pictures? I understand so many are posting pix from Google and others, but how can I convert the ones I've saved and encorporate them as IMAGES to be seen upon opening my thread/posts?

As a dial-up user, I'd much rather see the link of an attachment than wait for the thread to load (most free-hosts who allow adult pictures are on servers that are slower than Lit's)

There is one other advantage to using attachments instead of hotlinking pictures -- you can see a count of how many people have opened the attachment.

Yes, I know about the count tab next to the attachment area. I have both dial up and DSL (depending upon where I log in) and still find them a bit annoying only because I am a very impatient person. I like to SEE pictures real fast and then move on and not deal with clicking on attachments while I have like 20 other windows already open. Just a personal preference is all.

If you upload pictures to geocities as .txt then link to them as a picture in a thread it'll get around their remote linking thing (though I've heard it isn't recognized by some browsers).
