Behind the Scenes (closed)

"She likes you too..." She said quietly her face flushed bright red "and yes I lied. I hate heights... Maybe I was just trying to impress you." Lilly said carefully letting go of him "why didn't you tell me earlier?"

"Frankly, because you are Lillian Tyler. You are the woman every guy on campus wants to be with...well...the one that's not slutty. Face it. If we become a thing, i will have drastically 'outkicked my coverage.'" Craig smiles at the sports metaphor he uses.

"And why didn't you tell me? Was I too subtle with the hints? You know, this is 2013. A beautiful woman doesn't need to wait for a man to make the first move." Craig continues, "but since I did, I should probably continue."

With that, craig lifts lillians chin and plunders her with a kiss. A playful one with just a hint of tongue.

"I am not the girl that guys want, I'm the girl guys ignore... You could get any girl you want, why would I think you wanted me?" She sighed.

The kiss took her by surprise. She grabbed onto him again, still afraid of being up so high.

Craig instinctively wraps his arm around her waist. Partly for a sense of security. Mostly to punctuate his desire for Lillian.

"You are so incredibly gorgeous, Lillian. Guys ignore you because they are intimidated by your beauty." He smiles and takes her hand leading back to the rickety metal ladder. Going first so that if she should slip, he would catch her. Oh, and the chance to check out her butt more.

Craig descends the first few rungs and waits for the woman of his dreams.

Lilly carefully climbed down the ladder. "I doubt that..." She said when her feet finally hit the floor. "So... Um... What do we do now?" She asked nervously as she played with her hair again.

"Frankly, I think you need to start by kissing me back." Craig is enjoying watching this confident actress shyly approaching the threshhold between friends and lovers.

He reaches out and locks fingers with her in an unspoken encouragement. Craig steps closer, invading her personal space. His eyes locked on hers with warmth and passion.

"Have we thought this through?" She asked "I don't want lose you as a friend." She said as she took a step away from him "do we really want to do this? There isn't any going back..."

"I have never been more certain of anything in my life." Craig confesses that he has given this lots of thought.

"Yes, there is a risk." Craig uses logic to bring clarity to a decision that should be based on the heart. He continues, "it may not work for us. It may ruin our friendship."

Lillian ponders that comment but is interrupted as he continues. "But what if it does work? What if we like eack other. What if the sex is spectacular? What if we fall madly in love. Move in together. Get married. Have children. Have the perfect life together."

Craig leans in and kisses her again. "You are well worth the risk"

"The... The sex? You've already thought about us... Sleeping together..." She said turning red "I already like you. But I'm not sure I want to just jump into bed with you..." Lilly took a deep breath "I haven't thought about this as much as you have."

"Of course I don't expect us to jump into the sex." Craig continues, "let's start at the beginning. Let me take you out tonight. Somewhere nice. Not lunch with a friend. Dinner."

Craig catches himself..."after we touch up the back drops with paint of course." He winks at her. No chance he turns down free labor!

She laughed "well since I don't have to try to impress you anymore... My works gonna cost you..." She said as she wrapped her arms around him "I think a kiss or two might be a fair payment.."

Craig playfully pulls away. "That's too steep" He kisses Lillian just once. "But I'm not opposedo negotiations." He smiles at her, touching his forehead to hers.

"Fine. One kiss... But it needs to be a good one. So your last one doesn't count..." She said looking into his eyes "so what do you think? Do we have a deal?" She asked.

"Yes. We have a deal" he leans in to kiss her then teasingly pulls away. "There is an incentive clause. If you do a good job, another kiss after."

Again, Craig kisses lillian, this time his tongue confidently brushes over her soft, full lips.

She wrapped her arms around him tightly, pulling him closer to her. After awhile she slowly pulled away "I guess we should get to work. The sooner we get done the sooner I get my kiss and we get to go have dinner."

Craig grins at Lillian. Loving the playful attitude she exudes. He runs up to catch up with her and uses the entrusted key to open the large storage room where they keep the backdrops and the costumes. Everything maticulously labeled.

"Stage design class can do most of the backdrop stuff. Let's just touch up this table and some of the other props." Hearing no objection, he opens a paint can and hands her a brush to start on the table while he finds some of the other props.

Sometimes when he looks at lillian, she looks back with desire. Other times a mischevious smile crosses her face.

"So how do you feel about being stage manager again?" She asks as she focused on painting the table. "You've never told me why your doing this? What made you want to act? Or is this what you wanted? To be behind the scenes?"

"Initially, my interest is on stage. But since I bomb at the casting calls, that doesn't seem to be in the cards. the next best thing is behind the scenes. But even that has whetted my appetite to be a director. I have so many ideas to emphasize the passion of the characters. Ways o make them dimensional."

Craig opens his heart and expresses his frustration. "I simply have always wanted to be on stage with you." Looking around, he continues. "You know...not painting props." Craig smiles atLillian warmly?

"What's the end game for you? Broadway? Hollywood? TV? Movies?" His question sincere. There was no hint of a joke...Craig fully expected big things from Lillian.

"The end for me is a husband and kids... But until then broadway..." She said "are you saying that painting props with me isn't enough? Let me help you next time... Maybe we can find a way to help you get on stage. I'd love to work with you..."

"Hehehe. Painting props with you is delightful." Craig grins. "But there's no audience. No accolades."

"I would love your assistance with rehearsals. Maybe the encouraging smile from a familiar face will erase the barriers. Thank you for offering. Do I get to be your date to the Tony's?"

Craig pauses as a segue into the other topic. "Husband and children, huh? You will make some lucky man very happy some day. I can.t believe that you would be anything less than amazing as an actress, a mom, and a wife."

He holds her hand. And the little bit of paint on their hands smear on each other's.

She laughed "if I ever make it that far of course you would be my date." She said "I'll only be a great wife if someone gives me a chance. Maybe no one will want to marry me..." She said going back to painting.

"Not marry the most kind, compassionate, attractive, charming, witty, fun, intelligent, ambitious." Craig exaggerates the inhale audibly. "...funny, loving, passionate, talented, beautiful, inspiring woman I know?"

"Never going to happen." He places his fingers on Lillian's ring finger, mentally measuring. Caught, he grins and replies. "Just checking something out"

"Are you planning on proposing at dinner tonight?" She asked watching him touch her hand "it might be a little soon for that..." She said.

"Yeah. I'm sorry to disappoint, but I'm not going to ask you to marry me the same night I tell you how I feel about you. Besides, there's a lot of dating to do first."

Craig looks at the props. All neatly arranged. "Do you think you earned that second kiss?"

"I think so... But if you don't want to kiss me I guess I'll just go." She said gently touching his cheek, leaving some paint behind, before starting to walk out of the room.
