BFW's Swan Song

An unfortunate byproduct of learning another language phonetically. ;)
I was taught; "When two vowels go walking, the first one does the talking."

but ie/ei screws me up every time. Field, friend, weird, veil, neither... I had to learn those spellings one. At. A time.

"Field" I only learned whilst I was working at the Chicago museum-- in my forties.

Your teacher wasn't a German, then. In the i/e combination in German words (and those English words derived from German--and there are a boatload of them), the second vowel does the talking.

Siegfried, Einstein...

Another new thing learned!:rose:

Siegfried, Einstein...

Another new thing learned!:rose:

"I" before "E" except after "C"
Or when sounded as "A" as in "Neighbor" or "Weigh"

Unless, as sr previously stated, it's in German, and you always pronounce the second of the two letters.

:D

As someone's sig here once stated, "English is a language that mugs other languages in dark alleys and then goes through their pockets for spare vocabulary."

Or something to that effect.

You'd think this was an author's board or something. ;)

Usually doesn't matter. Most hi-jacks tend to be flirt fests, lol. (though it seems this one might be heading that way with Stella's teacher kink remark)

I had the opportunity to use one of Stella's products on a young lady.

She liked it. :)

Custom fit! Just step into the fitting room...

And lie down on the fitting couch.

:cattail:

Oh, good.

Can we try several?

I love the pictures of your products.

I especially love the whips.

Yes, yes. The whips are so delicious.

Teacher!kink ?

Uh . . . gee . . .

I'm a yardstick fan myself.

Uh . . . never . . . thought . . . of . . . it . . . that . . . way . . .

Uh.

Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. Pass the chili flakes for my ice cream, Rob?
