Bigger Men Appreciation Thread!

My neighbours decide to do home renovations at odd hours, drives me up the wall, because they're not exactly quiet.
They feel it is nessisary to saw or hammer at 3am, and then shout at each other over the sawing or hammering, instead of stopping.

Of course, it made me feel a little better when I saw them trying to put drywall up, and watched one of them drop it on the others head.

Not that I can say much - I'm a night-owl, and being fully active at 3am is nothing unusual for me.

My backyard backs up to some federally owned property with secutiry cameras, larges fences, and lots or razor wire an expensive equipment. I feel watched all the time. Good thing is that we never really have blackouts.

I would be afraid to do ANYTHING . Wouldn't want them to see some of the people I have coming and going from my house. Now THAT sounds sketchy...

I hate drywall. I'm getting ready to gut my bathroom and re-do it and I dread drywall and tile work, and replacing the ceiling. . . actually that's one of the few times I wish I was married. It would so quickly be someone else's problem. I do a tone of work on my house myself, but I do not look forward to the bathroom overhaul.

Actually, when I was young, and during the summer between years at school, I took a job hauling drywall.

It gets in EVERYTHING. I hated it with a passion

So, if I ever have need of the stuff - it WILL be someone elses problem....

Firstly, I'm a take charge do it yourself kind of gal. And I've been in this house since i was a kid so it's easier for me to do soemthing than to explain to a professional all the rigged nonsense it took me to make it work in the first place.

And I figure the poor US Gov't. behind me has been warned about the crazy chick with the giant dogs and the weird friends.

Rottweiler/ Chocolate lab mix. They were over 120 lbs. each until i put them on a diet. They looked like hogs. But still cheaper than a security system. Their mother was the biggest rott I've ever seen. she used to nose me in the ribs when I was standing.

I've got a friend who's a laid-off RV mechanic. He's very good at construction and tile work.....if you want a handy-man to do the bathroom job.
He's 27, single, and able to travel.

 Oh, your poor knees! Now that I'm over 35, I'm paranoid about the wear and tear I put--and have put--on my knees, and I'm only 6' 6"ish and 230.

Yeah, doesn't help any that I had surgery on the left one at 16. I have been missing 20% of the cartilage in that one ever since. I figure I'll be due for a replacement at about 50 even if I lose the desk-job gut this year. Hip replacement will probably come at 55 or so. My right hip is already arthritic and I am only 31.

Ahh well, I don't let it stop me.

It was lovely to meet all of you as well and I hope to be welcome in many more laps ^_^

*Picks up Snuggle Bunz and grins* - ok, now what? (love your avatar btw... :D)

*squeals and wraps around Maximus only mildly afraid of falling*

My Father's grandfather....yep was I believe African and 7foot tall. Tis where my brother and I get our height. My brother is 6'4, he would be taller had he learned proper posture growing up.

Great to meet you too Snuggle... I doubt you'll have problems finding cold laps :D

*Squeezes Snuggle while holding her up*

Sounds very cool. I honnestly don't know where my height came from. My father and my grandfather were both tall men for their times, but nothing like this. My mother is SHORT, but has some very tall cousins... so I guess that's it.

You may have said it earlier Snuggle - but I missed it - how tall are you?

Know the feeling well. I live in a 100 year old house that when I bought it, I could see the "good bones". The more we do, the more we find. In 3 years we have put a lot of work into it, but still have a lot to go. Hell, I am a single mom with active teenage boys. Who has time to work on the house.

Hello all! Hope everyone is doing well. This thread has really taken off..that is great!! :) If anybody missed me I am here :D
