Black Hawk's Treasure

Krysta ~

All this sitting around was driving me insane. Always had to keep busy and since I didn't talk that much, it didn't help. The longer I sat there, the more my thoughts trailed off. If it was one thing I hated most other than sitting still, was when my mind went wondering.

Pulled out one of four dagger, two in my bracers, and one in each boot. I spent more time taking care of those daggers than any of my other things. Never have nicks, no finger prints on the blade themselves. Perfect condition at all times.

Just to keep myself busy and stay at the table with the crew to celebrate, just started to polish the blades. Taking my time with them and listening to what everyone had to say. Crossing my feet on the table while leaning back on two legs of the chair.

Melvin Morecock

To Treasure and Pleasure

"Aye, Cap'n, mum's the word." Melvin croaked between swigs of rum and surreptitious glances into Leia's expansive cleavage.

Sailing at dawn gave them the tide and a few more hours of revery. Spying Pete's position in the rafters, he clucked his tongue to call the one legged bird. Even on that short flight, the green and red parrot delivered a gift to the crowd below, as he always did, this time on the Preacher's table. Melvin winked at Leia as the bird landed on his shoulder and winced as he croaked, "Awk.... nice bigguns....Awk"

The Preacher paused in his honing of his sword for a moment, glaring at the crew of the Bilgewater, then continued his sharpening.

Krysta leaned back in her chair, doing some polishing of her own, her shapely legs crossed on the table It was amazing how such tight clothes hid so many knives. a man would have to search to find them all It was almost a prospect worth getting cut for.

"Me hearties," Melvin said, " A toast to Cap'n, treasure and pleasure. Let's see how much we can find before the turn of the tide."

Salty Dan

He looked at the little present the parrot had made on the table, and glanced to Preacher, who, unfortunately, decided that now was the perfect time to open his mouth. His scowl deepened.

He pulled out a pistol, readying it and aiming it at the parrot, who'd taken perch on one of the pirates on the Bilge Water. "Arrgh, think I kin 'it 'im from 'ere, Preach'?"

He noticed the way they were all gathered together, and grunted. Then his eyes turned to her, and he shoved the pistol back into it's place, making sure it wouldn't accidently go off.

"On secon' though', I'm na much in the mood fer that."

He got another drink, taking a deep swig of rum and looking to the Preacher. He got up, taking his tankard with him. The man wasn't a good drinking companion at all. He sighed, and downed the rest of the rum, spending the last of his money to get himself a decent sized bottle of the stuff, and sat himself down in a corner, drinking heavilly and watching Leia.

Leia

Leia laughed as Pete flew down squawking.

"Awk.... nice bigguns....Awk"

Her eyes flew to Melvin, her eyebrow raised expressively in answer to his wink, knowing full well that he had been checking out her cleavage.
Leia licked her lips and leaned forward, as she took up her glass once more, turning her head feigning ignorance as she felt Melvin’s glance delving once more to the creamy depths of her bodice.

”So we set sail in the morn?
No time to check out that little group over there then?”

She enquired lightly, turning her head to look over in the direction of the Preacher and Dan.

”You did know there’s a female Cap’n hereabouts?
I bumped into their lil group … a “Salty Dan” and “Preacher”?”

She informed them, nodding over at the table again, noting that the Preacher now sat alone.

”I’ve never heard their names afore.
Do you know of ‘em Cap’n … or what their ship might be?”

She leaned forward once more, this time telling him urgently.

”Dan at least certainly knew that I was part of the crew aboard the Bilge Water…”

Leia looked over at her Captain and dimpled a smile.

”Most ... unsettling ... for you know how I never forget a face … or a … “

She threw back her head and laughed, raising a suggestive eyebrow to her shipmates.

Horatio and Mr. Moore:

Now on the beach a mile or so from the town we'd spotted in the bar/harbor, see above, I said to Mr. Moore, "Wouldn't look good to go the to clean nor to dirty Mr. Moore. I think a bit of brisk walking will work up a good enough sweat in this heat and humidity. That and our clothing should do I think, do you agree?"

Ash

The tip and sway of the ship woke her up after only a short time of rest. Feeling ill, she knew she had to get off the ship before she puked her guts up.
Head pounding, stomach hurting like hell, she rolled out of the bed and onto her hands and knees. Staggering her way off of the ship, she hurried down the dock to land.
"Oh jesus!" She groaned, sitting down against a palm tree and thanking god ground was close!
Everything tilted and swayed, and it wasn't because of the water either. She was never good at holding down her drink. She sat for awhile, not too long but long enough to settle her stoamch. Needing air, she pushed and wiggled her way upright. Her hand shot out, gripping onto the tree trunk as best she could for balance.
"This is ..... Oh hell!" She forgot, but whatever it was, it wasn't good. She hiccupped and belched. Excusing herself for her unlady like behavior, she covered her mouth. Thank god she was alone!

She shoved off from the tree, teetering as she went towards the shore line. Walking along the water's edge, she started to feel a little better, not much but enough not to be ill all over the place. She was thankful, she wanted to keep her dinner down.

Spotting a lump ahead, she headed towards it. She needed to sit down, rest a little. She grumbled under her breath as she went, cursing everyone and everything as she walked. Pausing, she squinted hard at the lump, "Wha..?" She bent at the waist, shooting down to hover just a few inches above one drunk and snoring vagrant on the beach. Boy! He had some rotten breath! Squinting harder, she shot upright and down yet again. This was making her ill, but the face was familiar to her?

She uprighted herself again and cocked her leg a little, thinking..

"Now.. Where do I know...VALLEN!" She gasped, her eyes going wide. "YOU!" She kicked him hard, right in the backside. "You traitorous bastard!" She cursed at him again, ready to kick the drunkard.

Thomas, between drinks did check out the two whom Leia had mentioned. Their faces didn't ring any sort of bell, just the regular sort of riff raff that came in here, but they would be part of Ash's new crew.
Yes, he could remember them all sitting down at the table with her before. Of course. A Salty Dan and a preacher? How charming. Ash must have scraped the bottom of the barrels for that kind of crew.
"Well, they are all yours tonight. Just don't tire them out," Thomas laughed, nudging her under the table, "We need you on the ship by morning, your night is free to your own treasure... or pleasure."
Thomas went to another table, nodding for Leia to follow him. In the distance, that one Salty preacher continued to look at them, or at least Leia in a chance to catch a glimpse of thigh. Thomas gave a bit of a smile. Perhaps he could use this.
"Milady," He said, in a hushed tone," Perhaps you could spend an hour or so with the gentleman whose already caught your attention over there. If he has Ash as a captain, it might be good to know where they are heading, or for what. Just a little information to keep us a day or two ahead of them."
Thomas smiled, knowing he had picked the exact woman, with the exact assets for such an operation.

"Get off me, you damned pink elephants." Vallen started to swim in the sand, to get away from the pink elephants coming to get him. They were coming, and they had kicked his rear.
Elephants never forget.
At this thought, Vallen woke up, screaming, holding his bottle and his sack of gold. It didn't take but a moment to see who it was, and just what she was doing here.
"No, no. I saw a ship! Ashley, please, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."
He gave her the gold, thought for a moment, and then gave up the rest of the rum too.
"Elephants never forget. They never forget. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I gave it to Thomas, he wants to find Black Hawk's treasure. I gave it to him, cause he wanted to take it from you. I'm sorry, I'm sorry."
Vallen crouched in the sand, in a fetal position, mumbling about elephants and the ship he had just excaped from.

Ashley

She was stunned a little by his rampant confession, but it only made her glare all the more at his pathetic form.
"You were kicked off this island! Sent to.. umm. Sent to New Gate! You rotten.. What?! Thomas has what Vallen? You best tell me before I kick you again!" She glared down at the man, fighting hard not to lose her temper.. it was a little too late however, she was shouting at him at the top of her lungs.

"TELL ME! You pig!" She kicked him again, anger boiling. This man betrayed her father! After all her father had done for him! She wanted to cry remembering her father in her drunken state but held back. A captain didn't cry dammit!

Leia

"Well, they are all yours tonight. Just don't tire them out,"

Leia looked at her Capt’n with mock innocence and felt him nudge her playfully beneath the table.
"We need you on the ship by morning, your night is free to your own treasure... or pleasure."

Leia sipped at her drink and watched as he nodded for her to follow. Draining her drink once more, she rose and with a mischievous look thrown at her shipmates, she picked her way towards him, pulling a chair very close as she sat beside him.

"Milady, Perhaps you could spend an hour or so with the gentleman whose already caught your attention over there. “

Leia raised her eyes briefly in the direction the Captain indicated and saw Dan drinking alone, his eyes seemingly on her.

”If he has Ash as a captain, it might be good to know where they are heading, or for what.
Just a little information to keep us a day or two ahead of them."

Leia’s eyes widened in understanding, then she nodded slowly.

”He’s no fool, Cap’n … but … I’ll see what I can do … “

She glanced back at her shipmates and then back at Thomas.

”He’ll never tell me anything after he’s seen us like this … he’s bound to smell a rat … but … “

She grinned.

”If we could give him reason to suspect that … well … things aren’t as … united … as they might be aboard the Bilge Water … “

She winked at him.

”It’s time to decide that I don’t live up to … expectations Captain …
Perhaps you don’t like me “fraternizing” with lowlifes … with the enemy…?”

She prompted.

”That’s why you’ve called me over here isn’t it … to put me in my place … threaten to drop me from the crew …. ?”

She prompted, watching him, trying to gauge what his reaction to her scheme was.

”I’m sure if I protest a little … shout a little and cry a little … what man could resist comforting lil’ ole me …?”

She whispered biting back the urge to laugh as she schooled her face to a harder expression.
She watched waiting for him to nod before pulling back from Thomas suddenly, giving him an opening to start an argument with the chance to be overheard, that is if he chose to follow her suggested tactic.

"It's a map," He squealed as she hit him, just like a pig wound, trying to make a sloppy escape from her foot, but only moving far enough so she couldn't kick him straight away.
"A map... just a map. I stole a map from... from your father a long time ago, when I mutineed. Well, it wasn't a map, it was part of a map. I took it, and went to another ship. There, I left it, not knowing what it was. That ship, The Warhammer, crashed into an island. The map I gave Thomas is a map showing him where the Warhammer is, and the location of the part of the map I took. He was very interested in it. He wanted it very baldly. Now, I've told you, I have. Please don't hurt me. I'll be faithful, I'll leave in the morning. I promise, just don't hurt an old man while he's down."

Ashley

She paused all tirade, the words dying on her lips.

"The other half?!" She grinned and wobbled a little in the uneven sand.

"You do that Vallen. Leave and do NOT return here again, you got me?" She glared down at him a moment.

"Where is this Warhammer? You best not be lying to me! You know I have ways of getting to you if you betray me.. hell I should slit your gullet right here on this very beach!" She stormed however not so loudly this time.

"Leave here and do not darken me again by your presence!" She turned, marching back along the beach. So.. Thomas had a map did he? Well, she'd see about getting to it first! She was going to the tavern and finding her crew. They had a ship to follow..

She stopped against the same palm tree, getting her bearings down before marching back up into the tavern. Stepping inside, she eyed the room through foggy eyes until she seen Preacher.
"Ah, yes.." She couldn't see Dan, but then again she could barely see infront of her face!

Wait! Why should she follow Thomas? That bastard got the map illegally! He should give it back!

"THOMAS!" She barked off, hunting for the man responcible for all her woes.

Thomas snickered, loving the idea she had come up with. It was genius, pure and dangerous genius, just like those seductive curves that could always be seen on her body.
Thomas rose from his chair, his voice already too loud, and a bit slurry to make him look more drunk.
"God Damnit woman, can you not keep your legs together for five minutes? I turn around, and you're flirting with half the men in here. What in the hell is wrong with you, wanton wench? Do you think this is tollerated? Do you think I'm here to make sure you get some action before we leave."
Thomas leaned into her, pointing at her, but giving her a slight wink as he did so.
"This is it, I don't want to see you again, I don't want to hear from you. Get off my ship, get out of my life, and if I ever catch you again, I'll..."
Thomas raised his hand to slap her, as more than a few patrons of the bar now could see them. He stopped, in mid-air, looking down at her.
"No, you're not worth it. Leave my sight."
With a final resounding slam of his chair, Thomas went back to the rest of the crew, letting them in on the little scam, so they wouldn't think him too drunk again, or just out of his gourd.
"She thought it would be a great idea to..."
He stopped when he heard a voice call out his name, a familar voice. Thomas watched Ash come in. She looked like shit, half drunk hung over shit that hadn't quite made it yet.
"Well, what an end to a perfect day," Thomas went over to her, unsure of just how mad he should be at her.

Ashley

She swayed a little on her feet but managed to poke Thomas in the chest.

"You. Me. Outside!" She didn't wait for an answer, merely grabbed his shirt and tugged him behind her a few feet. Then stopping she turned back towards him and said loud enough for all to hear, "And Francis! Leave the tarts here!" She muttered a few choice cuss words, glancing around for the door again and started off again.

"Oh of all the *hic* nerve!" She sputtered, her ale still not settled properly. Now where was he? She stopped short of the steps and waited for the smart assey cocky shit to join her.

I just thought that I'd stop in and wish you a happy birthday. My names Kate==HAPPY BIRTHDAY==

Leia

Leia tipped her head back as she sat with Thomas looming above her, knowing she would look all the more vulnerable by remaining seated.

"God Damnit woman, can you not keep your legs together for five minutes? I turn around, and you're flirting with half the men in here.”

Leia so wanted to laugh at his choice of words, but instead shook her head wordlessly and looked away, only snapping her face back to attention as he continued to berate her.

”What in the hell is wrong with you, wanton wench?
Do you think this is tollerated?
Do you think I'm here to make sure you get some action before we leave."

Leia saw her Captin’s wink, but eased back as if in fear of him as he declared.

"This is it, I don't want to see you again, I don't want to hear from you.
Get off my ship, get out of my life, and if I ever catch you again, I'll..."

Swinging round suddenly, his hand raised, Leia gasped and flinched away.
She raised her eyes to his and he held his hand in check.

"No, you're not worth it. Leave my sight."

She looked down refusing to meet his eye as she heard the chair bang.
She let her head rest in her hands, her body shake slightly, as if stealing herself to move away.
Slowly she eased herself upright, filled up a glass with hard liquor, her hands clearly shaking and moved away avoiding the table with her “old shipmates”, slipping out of the side door and out to the cool air beyond.

This was it … she would wait … see if he followed her … and if not … well … she had a backup plan …

Taking a gulp of liquor she focused on her “role”.
Slowly the tears welled and brimmed over.
She stared up to the stars her breath hiccupping slightly.
Her mind miles away … imagining what she would indeed do if she were banished from the Bilge Water …

But surely ... that would never happen ...

Krysta ~

Gave Thomas a confused look, till he started to explain the plan. Easing back into the chair, pulling out another dagger and started working on it.

If it was anyone, she was the perfect one for such a task. I may look good, but my attitude isn't right for that. I just had to laugh as he spoke. Then Ash come stumbling in, taking Thomas outside. He really wasn't much for hitting women, but she, she on the other looked like she was ready to tear into him.

It took all my will to not follow and to stay out of, having a tendacy to at least watch out for Thomas. This wasn't my business, chances are she found out he had the map peice.

Leia

"Though she fall, she shall not be cast headlong, psalms 37.24"

Leia looked towards the voice, a voice she recognised but had not expected.
She let her eyes linger on his, knowing he would see the tears, before she brushed them away with feigned haste.

"Preacher ... what ... "

Her voice broke as she looked back up at the sky once more.

"What.. are you doing out here ... ?"

She asked softly, her creaming bosom heaving in the moonlight as she secretly adjusted her plan.
One shipmate was as good as another.
She pressed her eyes tightly shut.
If the other man was clever, this man was even more perceptive.
She must not allow even her thoughts to stray into anything but the reality he had seen.
Not if she wanted to succeed.

Leia

"What indeed Dear Lady."

His voice was monotone, expressionless.
She felt his finger touch her skin and tilt her head upwards.
But she would not meet his eyes.
She felt him watching her.
She felt him watching as she seemed to struggle for composure.
In truth his silent observation unsettled her.
And his gaze seemed to be eternal.
Pushing away the superstitious thought that perhaps this man could see into her soul, Leia finally opened her eyes and stared up at him, quivering only slightly as his eyes searched hers.

Much as she longed to pull away, to drop her gaze, she did not.
Her breath quickened and she felt a genuine flush paint her cheek.

"You will be wanted shortly ... "

She stated finally wanting to distract him.
Seducing Dan would be much the easier option, she knew.
She was not sure she could handle this devout man who still watched her most intently.

Salty Dan

He growled, watching the exit they'd used. Surely the man had to be able to tell? He tipped his head back, drinking more of the rum. He was starting to get a buzz now. He corked the bottle, deciding to stop before he went all the way. Wouldn't do to be drunk.

He got to his feet with a growl, and stomped over to the exit. Preacher must be blind. Surely he could see Dan had an eye on her. And anyone who knew anything could tell her little act had been just that. Hadn't he heard the toast they'd had? To treasure and pleasure? They were obviously talking about setting sail for that kind of toast. And no one was stupid enough to talk about where they were headed next before kicking out a crewmember who knew.

And then there was Ash's little dsturbance. Hell, he might be able to use that.

He barged out the side door, turning to see Preacher and Leia. " 'Ey! Preach! Capt'n Ash's drunk and callin' out ol' Thomas from tha Bilge Water! You jus' gonna hang out 'ere, or ya gonna 'elp me get 'er back ta the ship?"
