Black Hawk's Treasure

Bloody Bill

Leia held out her blade, but being so much shorter I was no match for the cutlass the Captain held out towards her.
The only reassuring factor was that no one had moved to follow the orders given ... yet.
Again she heard the order repeated and gasped as the blade was held at her throat.

At the sound of the cannon fire Bloody Bill was out the door of the tavern. Assuming first that the Royal Navy was firing on the ships in the harbor. As he neared the docks he saw cannon smoke rising from the Mystique as she sat broadside to the Bilge Water.

“What the bloody hell,” he said slowing to a walk.

As first mate to the Bilge Water his first reaction was to save his ship. As he neared the dock where the Mystique was moored he heard voices behind him. Stepping quietly into the underbrush he waited til they passed. It was Leia and the gunners mate of the Mystique, Salty Dan. He pulled his pistol from his sash. He crept closer through the underbrush, hiding just at the fringe. His suspicions roused as to why Leia would be with the gunners mate. He watched the conversation but could not hear the words. As Captain Ash’s blade came up to Leia’s throat he leveled his pistol aiming at the Ash’s head.

It would be a tricky shot from this distance but it might give him time to board the Mystique. He was not about to let his shipmate without knowing the why of it.

“One more move Captain fucking Ash and yer crew be swabbin yer brains off the deck,” he said the pistol laying across his forearm for support.

Leia

“One more move Captain fucking Ash and yer crew be swabbin yer brains off the deck,”

Every head snapped over from where the voice rang out.

"Bill! ... God ... no..... !"

Leia called out urgently taking a step towards him in panic.
Bill was hot headed and impetuous.
Killing was the easy answer to him, it seemed.
Sure Leia had gotten herself into a tight spot, but this was not the answer!
This was farcical!
What a stupid reason to try to kill someone for ... cannon fire and a love affair turned sour.

"Look... let's just ... "

She halted suddenly realising she was now stood between Captain Ash and the pistol and decided it politic to backtrack.

"For God's sake ... be careful with that thing!"

She cried out.

Salty Dan

Daniel sighed, leaning against the wood, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath. It wasn't until he heard the threat against the captain that he moved. He let Leia talk, pulling back the hammer as he looked at the man.

It was a tricky shot from where he was, at least for most. But for Daniel, it'd be easy enough to plant a shot right in his forehead. However, he had a bigger problem. He scowled. He could have just knocked her out if it weren't for him. He grumbled.

"That's it! Preach, the capt'n's drunk, do your duty and confine 'er to 'er quarters before she becomes a greater danger to herself or 'er ship! Bill, you put that god-damned pistol down, Leia, git off ther ship."

He whispered to her. "Look, I'll try and see ya once she's taken care of. if ya wanna, ya kin wait, er just move on."

And he turned to Captain Ash, standing between her and the woman from the Bilge Water. "And you, Capt'n, are drunk! Now, how abou' ya go ta yer cabin quietly, 'er what little crew ya have left might wonder if yer fit ta be a captain!"

Ashley

She let Sally blubber over her hand with a slight smile. Sally reminded her of a mother hen, it pleased her not having known her own mother.

She glanced up at Preach and then Dan, her temper flared again.

"Salty, if you don't want tossed off MY BOAT, shut the hell up!" She barked at him, her mood still sour.

"And tell Mr. Bloody down there to buggar off." She was snooty yes, but she was sick and tired of these morons thinking their captain was a saint!

"Leia was it? Well you are free to go, just do not step foot on here again." She waved the woman off, no longer interested in a fight of any kind. Her hand hurt, and she had things to do before morning. For one, leave before Thomas did!

"AND I AM NOT DRUNK! You addle brained ASS!" She glared again at Salty. He had too much of a habit of playing boss, she was tempted to push him overboard!

"Sally, it's throbbing painfully, got anything? Perhaps some whiskey? I'd like to forget tonight.." She turned and marched off with the cook, ignoring the dumb founded people on deck. Though her temper was like her father's, she wasn't as violent as she'd like to be. Hell, she had never even stabbed anyone with her cutlass before. She was certain the sight of blood would have made her ill, if not faint. It had been too long, she shouldn't have stayed in boarding school for all those years. If it weren't for her father's letters informing her Thomas was still here on this island, she would have...

She stopped before going below and spoke to Preach, "Please instruct all the crew to be on this ship before dawn. We sail in four hours." She went below to nurse her hand and reread her portion of the map. She could get to the islands cluster, but finding the right one with no clues? And then the treasure?

Sitting at her desk, she thought for a moment Thomas was right. She was playing pirate with her father's ship.... But then again, she did it once not four years ago, she could do it again. And she did promise her dying father she would find it. Little did she know how selfish her father really was.

Thomas took a bottle of rum in one hand, used the other to prop over Krysta's shoulder, and made his way back out to his old ship. It would be a nice place to sleep tonight, in his own quarters, and make way for tomorrow's adventure.
"Aye, Krysta. You've always been right there, haven't you? Sometimes I miss out on the most important things."
He could remember raising her aboard the ship, from just a wee little thing. She grew up so much since then, but he had fallen in love with Ashley. No one else mattered, not even his ship.
When Ashley pushed him away, he went into this spiraling waste, excluding everyone, even his closest friends. He had come back though, and was going on strong now.
They passed the single dock, where the two pillars of ships stood across from each other.
Thomas gave a salute to his baby, with the rum in his hand, and walked aboard the gangplank.
"This is so nice of you," He said, as they went below to the captain's quarters, "You have no idea. I know I've been distant, I didn't mean to. I just didn't want anyone to get close."
He flopped onto the bed, cradling the rum in his arm, but not wanting to drink anymore.
"We're still leaving at dawn," He set it aside, "That leaves some time left... a few hours at least."

Krysta ~

I knew exactly what she did to him, I don't know the story word for word. For when he got to that point of what she truly did he would get quiet. It did not matter. What mattered now is that he got some rest and had someone here for him.

I was pretty much silent on the way to the ship.

Once inside, he just layed on the bed, to out of it to even take his boots off. Thought about the things he was saying;

"I'm not all that important, all I think about is work. I may not be a helpless little, rich daddys girl. But, still i'm no more important than the sand in the sea."

I decided to do him that favor, started to take his boots off, socks.

"It is the least I can do, after all you have done for me. As for you being distant, well, that was purely understandable. I do the same when I'm hurting. Though not many see when those times are."

Most those times were like now, seeing him like this. Once I had his socks, began to take his shirt off. I knew he slept in the nude, so I wasn't doing it to be sexual, more to just make him comfortable. I knew how deeply he felt for her, therefore I wasn't thinking of us in that way any longer.

Leia

"That's it! Preach, the capt'n's drunk, do your duty and confine 'er to 'er quarters before she becomes a greater danger to herself or 'er ship!
Bill, you put that god-damned pistol down, Leia, git off ther ship."

Leia shrugged and ran her eyes contemptuously along the assembled group.
She, Leia had been outspoken, but she had only tried to help the Captain when she’d injured herself and when she’d been threatened!

”Ungrateful bitch … “

She muttered, raising her eyes to Dan, surprised to hear him whisper.

"Look, I'll try and see ya once she's taken care of.
if ya wanna, ya kin wait, er just move on."

Leia watched as Dan moved between her and his Captain, shielding one from the other, presumably to stop any further confrontation.

"And you, Capt'n, are drunk! Now, how abou' ya go ta yer cabin quietly, 'er what little crew ya have left might wonder if yer fit ta be a captain!"

Leia smirked and pressed against his back, her hand briefly stroking Dan’s muscular buttocks.
With every second she was more and more impressed.

”I kin wait Dan … “

She purred softly and then laughed as the Captain shouted out at the other woman, Sally and then bellowed at Bill to put the pistol away.
Everyone was in her bad books it seemed.
What a way to run a ship!
Turning to leave, Leia heard the Captain’s shout follow her.

"Leia was it?

Leia nodded, assuming it was her turn now.

”Well you are free to go, just do not step foot on here again."

Leia hesitated, wanting to tell Ash that permission had already been given, by the only one fit to be Captain around here, but seeing a warning light in Dan’s eyes, she bit back the ready response that rose to her lips.

Instead she smiled demurely about to leave as Preacher spoke.

"Mistress Leia, best you leave now, if you wish I can escort you back to the tavern as I have to inform such members of the crew that ashore to be here for dawn... but.. "

Leia let her eyes rest on his before interrupting softly.

”Why … such was my intent … thank you for your kind wishes, but I need no escort and as you see if assistance were indeed necessary, I have one of my shipmates on hand to see to my … needs..”

She glanced across at Dan with a mischievous smile, all pretence of not being a crewmember of the Bilge Water gone.

”Good evening to you … gentlemen …. ‘til we meet again…”

Leia’s eyes held Dan’s with a look of invitation, then with a flirtatious smile thrown in the Preacher’s direction, she turned and walked with slow deliberation along the deck, her hips swaying provocatively.
Her gait was relaxed and as such was the picture of insolence.

As Leia made her unhurried exit from aboard the Mystique, a self-satisfied smile spread across her face as she heard further protests and shouts behind her. She could truthfully report to Thomas that he had little to fear from this crew … apart from Dan of course … if only he could be persuaded to serve a better Captain, one worthy of his talents… she mused.

Ash

"Sea water Sally?" She made a face with the thought of swallowing something that vile! "I am fine, but I am a wee bit pissed off." She let it drop for now and stood at her desk. Pulling the paper from inside her pants, she opened it up and looked it over. Four Islands, some clues and one big mess to situate out.

"Damn you Brian for leaving me this.." She cursed her father a many times in her life, but this was one time she meant it. The lure of riches beyond anything they had ever seen was just too great to pass up. Too tempting to forget as well.

Hiding the map, she pulled her knife from her boot and stripped them off. Next came her sash and cutlass, she'd take a swim to wake up, but she wasn't drinking it. When she was awake more, she'd have a few words with Salty before sailing.

Her temper in check for the moment, she left the Mystique and headed down the pier. Her mood was still sour, she had never seen someone disobey a direct order in all her times on this ship but once! And Vallen was no longer a member of this crew nor would be again. "And all for a piece of ass!" She growled a little under her breath.

Diving into the ocean, she stayed under until she had to have air and came up. It was warmer than usual but cold enough to wake her right up. Dripping, she climbed back onto the pier and eyed the Bilge with distaste.

Her wrist still smarted a little, but she ignored the throbbing dull pain. It would heal in due time, right now she had to figure out which way she would go first. After the other half of the map, or after the treasure? She could possibly find it before Thomas located the other half, but it would be very difficult. Fighting Thomas for the other half would also be hard. And with her crew not following orders, what chance did she have of facing off with the Bilge and it's crew? She might need more crew members before the dawn came...

She went back to her cabin and dressed properly for her first day as acting captain and her first offical 'rip-down' as well. Now to locate Salty and the others. She visibly flinched a little, being drunk enough to do what she did, but sober enough to remember every little detail, she had only one regret. She didn't sink it!

Leia

Leia pressed against Bill in the darkness.

”My Hero … “

She murmured softly then giggled.

”What a crew … I’ll have more than enough to tell Thomas tomorrow … I don’t think we have much to fear from them … not if this evening is anything to go by.

Leia kissed him full on the mouth and glanced across at the Bilge Water.

”Seems our Cap’n’s abed hey, Bill?”

She eyed the Mystique speculatively.

”Perhaps few will sleep well tonight … “

She commented cryptically as she watched the movement along the deck.
It was then she saw a figure walking down the gangplank.

”Dan… “

She breathed and then realised that it was in fact Preacher striding towards the shore, then on into town.

”Now what … “

She whispered to herself, moving slightly to get a better view.

”Bill … I’ll be back … Thomas asked me to keep an eye on this crew … and this night grows more interesting by the minute … “

So saying, she crept very quietly after this man of God, who looked fit to take on the armies of Satan himself.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now perhaps Leia had been foolish to make her comments to Captain Ash, but that appeared as the model of sagacity when compared to the idiocy of the sailors who chose to provoke Preacher as he strode towards them.
Leia stood hidden in the shadows hearing the men’s jeers and Preacher’s chill response.
Her eyes widened as one of them wiggled his backside at the Preacher who swiftly robbed him of his trousers.
Although initially a source of comedy, blades were soon pulled and the struggle commenced.
Less cautious now, Leia stepped forward admiring the skill with which Preacher toyed with them, driving them off one by one.
"Christ!"
She heard his exclamation and stepped forward, her mouth turned up in amusement a mocking light in her eye.
”A man may ruin his chances by his own foolishness, then blame it on the Lord…”
She quoted softly, adding.
” Proverbs 19, verse three…”
Her eyes ran slowly over his body, as she stood, hand on hip all the better to show off her curves and the expanse of creamy flesh that threatened to spill forth from her bodice.
Salty Dan
He sighed, and stretched. He moved to his quarters, and removed his guns and cutlass. He took off his new shirt, and put on the older one he owned, which had several rips and patches, and smelled of gunpowder.
He walked down, leaving the ship, seeing Leia's shapely body move off down the dock. Looking beyond, he could see she was following the first mate. He scowled, and started in the other direction, moving to the end of the docks, and staring down into the ocean. He growled deep in his throat, and jumping off, into the water. He swam around, enjoying the welcoming sea.
He came to the surface, swimming lazilly around to the other side of the ship he was gunner for. He stared up at the ship. Ash's father hadn't been the best man he'd known, and he was probably more greedy than any man had a right to be, but,....he'd taken aboard a man who'd just deserted the Crown's Navy, and put him to work.
And Daniel had shown himself. He didn't care much about money, so he had been a cheap hand. And he was a good gunner. So he'd been left to himself most of the time. As long as Daniel made holes where he was supposed to, the Capt'n had been happy. He'd been hoping that Ash would have her father's skills, without his greed.
Well, she might, once she got used to it. But he doubted if he'd get to see it. He swam back to the dock, climbing out of the sea, smelling of salt as he stopped, looking up at the stars before pulling himself onto the dock and laying there, staring at the sky.
He'd probably be kicked off the ship. He sighed.
Leia
Leia’s eyes widened as the Preacher brought the sword to her bosom.
"You have played the harlot with many lovers. Jeremiah 2.36 And with skill this night you have used that tongue in your head.
I am sure Thomas will reward you well, you have done enough damage to ask a high price."
She had been foolish indeed!
Perhaps as much as those drunken sailors.
She had dismissed the man who seemed to hide behind his quotations and yet of all of them he had realised what damage she had indeed caused that night with her actions.
Sooo it seemed that the ship was usually more united.
Leia was pleased to have been of more use to Thomas than even she had realised!
But now …
Her hand twitched. Surely she had returned her blade to her boot.
She had not even held it ready during the fight, so sure of herself has she been!
She gasped a she felt the sword tip.
”Foolish, you will be dead before you reached it.
Now you will come with me."
His hand grabbed hers and hauled her roughly after him.
"It is time you learned the error of your ways."
Leia struggled, the sword no longer at her breast.
”Noo… stop… my ways of not of your concern!”
She kicked out and felt him grab at her with more force.
Desperately she looked around for Bill … or Dan even … sure he would not condone this line of action.
She opened her mouth, preparing to scream her lungs out.
Salty Dan
He got up, and stamped his foot down. That was it, if he was going to get kicked off his ship, he was going to sure as hell not miss on everything. He started running in the direction he'd seen Leia following Preacher, deciding he'd have her, one way or another.
And then he saw them. Preacher dragging her along.
"What the bloody 'ell's goin' on 'ere, Preach? What're ya doin' wit' 'er?"
Salty Dan
He eyed the two of them.
"Puttin' 'er away a bit, huh? That why ya got a swor' at 'er throat? And wha', pray tell, ha' she seen tonight that Thomas doe'n't know? That Ash got drunk, and tha' 'he's still a girl who barely knows a port from starboard?"
He shook his head. "Preach, le' 'er go. She ain't seen nothin'. Especially worthy a that. 'Ere, give 'er ta me..."
Leia
"They are when they affect my Captain and my ship."
His voice frightened her.
But the feel of the cold metal at her throat chilled her still more..
"Now. Walk down the beach, you see the small hut by the line of fishing nets. Make for that.
If you try to move, even if some comes to help you, Just the slightest pressure will slit your throat."
She knew he could feel her body trembling, not even able to nod her agreement as he urged her forward.
" Move Mistress Leia.”
Haltingly she began to take a step forward, her eyes moved wildly looking for escape for help.
She saw a figure running up to them.
Dan!
She could not even call out his name, feeling the pressure against her throat.
"What the bloody 'ell's goin' on 'ere, Preach? What're ya doin' wit' 'er?"
The two men stood glaring at each other.
For once she stood silent.
"Do you think is wise that she should be allowed to run to Thomas and blab about what she heard and saw to night?
I am merely putting her out of the way for a while.."
If only she could turn her head, turn to appeal to Dan’s better nature.
He was the least rash of all the crew it seemed, the most level headed.
Surely he would object to this.
Instead she whimpered softly, the blade seeming to increase its pressure upon her skin.
"Puttin' 'er away a bit, huh? That why ya got a swor' at 'er throat? And wha', pray tell, ha' she seen tonight that Thomas doe'n't know? That Ash got drunk, and tha' 'he's still a girl who barely knows a port from starboard?
Preach, le' 'er go. She ain't seen nothin'. Especially worthy a that. 'Ere, give 'er ta me..."
”Oh God.. if only he would… “
She willed silently.
Salty Dan
He looked at her, and saw the look in her eyes. He turned to his first mate, and nodded his head. "Aye aye, Preach. She won't be a returnin' ta tha Bilge 'till after dawn, my word on i'."
He moved forward, taking her from the first mate.
"C'mon, then, Leia, le's us go inta town, and le' old Preach get back ta the ship. Seeya tomrra, Preach, if tha captain don't kick me offa tha ship. If she does, jus' leave me belongin' on tha dock..."
He put an arm around Lei'a waist. "So, lass, wha' should ya an' I do 'till dawn, huh?"
Leia
Finally Leia was able to meet Dan’s eye.
She knew he could see she was scared.
Her eyes appealed silently for his help.
"Aye aye, Preach. She won't be a returnin' ta tha Bilge 'till after dawn, my word on i'."
Leia felt the Preacher pull her forward and hand her over to Dan.
Dan in turn held her tightly, satisfying the other man that he would not let her go.
They stood and watched the Preacher turn away, his eyes sweeping contemptuously over her figure.
"C'mon, then, Leia, le's us go inta town, and le' old Preach get back ta the ship.
Seeya tomrra, Preach, if tha captain don't kick me offa tha ship. If she does, jus' leave me belongin' on tha dock..."
His grip on her arm lessened as the other man moved away towards the docks. Instead an arm encircled her waist.
She leaned heavily against him, hoping he could not feel the tremble of relief running through her body.
"So, lass, wha' should ya an' I do 'till dawn, huh?"
Her head turned and stared after the retreating man.
She shook her head, still stunned.
Words failed her.
Turning her attention back to Dan, she smiled softly and leaned to press a kiss on his cheek.
Thank you Dan … I didn’t know what he was going to do …
Is everyone on your ship crazy?”
That said she eyed him speculatively.
Just how serious was he going to take his promise to keep her off the Bilge Water ‘til past dawn?
Was she his … guest … or was she his prisoner…?
She smiled sweetly, running a finger along his chest, feeling his taut muscles beneath.
To some extent what did it matter?
Still… it would be … interesting … to find out …
Salty Dan
He raised an eyebrow, and looked over at the ship, obviously in thought. He turned back, and sighed, looking at her. He nodded, and pulled her close against him.
"Those tha' stayed? Yeah. Alwa's a rag-tag crew ta begin wit'. Now,....now I'd say tha ship be manned by madmen."
He looked at her, giving her a smile. His eyes raked down across the flesh of her breasts pushed up into cleavage and he licked his lips before his gaze returned to her face.
"So, lass,..." His hand wandered down from her waist to her ass. "Wanna ge' a room er somethin'?"
