Summary and Key Points: President Trump and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced Boeing has won the Air Force’s Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program, unveiling the new sixth-generation stealth fighter designated the F-47.

-Boeing beat Lockheed Martin for the $20 billion contract. The F-47, operational secretly for five years, will replace the F-22 within the next decade.

-It promises groundbreaking stealth, Mach 2+ speeds, and capabilities to control autonomous drones (Collaborative Combat Aircraft).

-Its mission includes hypersonic weapons and teaming with the B-21 bomber, ensuring U.S. air dominance for decades and offering unprecedented strategic capabilities against adversaries like China and Russia.

Pshaw....Boeing stands to make a pretty good profit now that they're able to self-certify airworthiness.

Remember the 737MAX?

Heck they can probably use the basic 737MAX airframe, slap some delta wings on it, mount a rocket pod underneath and voilà (or 'wall uh' in Ishmael speak) it's done!

Aircraft safety is a luxury we can no longer afford or expect in the Golden Age of White America.
Just my opinion, but I believe Lockheed would handle it better. However, due to the involvement of DARPA technology, heightened national security considerations, and the intricate production process from design and simulation to final tooling and assembly, this aircraft will undergo far greater scrutiny than anything that came before it.

Boeing is so far behind and overbudget on “trump’s” AF1 I’m surprised they got the f47

Bribes?
To be fair those programs that are over budget and rife with problems are confined within their contracts. This will be a new project from the ground up. While past performance matters, it’s only one of many factors influencing defense contracts. If a company can demonstrate improvements and unique capabilities, a previous overbudget program wouldn't automatically disqualify them from winning new contracts. All of these companies have suffered cost overruns, many caused by factors not totally under their control such as late-term engineering changes regarding added capabilities or cutbacks in design features not contemplated by either party in the initial design.

Historically, Boeing has had issues with being on time and on budget.

Ignoring that because your guy is in office is your own issue

I'm not ignoring it at all. I have issues with Boeing as I have alluded to but the decision has been made and it is what it is. My only hope is that something has changed in the way Boeing does business and the assurances they might have given to the government regarding their very public failures in the recent past.

Yes you are

You think that somehow your god guy will make magical things happen because you're delusional.

The risk is high that they will continue to do the same things they've done , time and time again.

Trump has nothing to do with the success or failure of this program. It will fail or succeed in its quality assurance programs. The engineering is already there. They've been flying this craft for five years now.

Look at his DEI administration! The irony, actual DEI hires bust their behinds because bigots want to open their mouths, so they work twice as hard.

Just marking this for posterity. No other comments. Carry on... :)

The name will be changed once Trump is out of power.
The designation F-47 for Boeing's upcoming sixth-generation fighter jet was chosen to honor the legacy of the P-47 Thunderbolt, a renowned World War II aircraft, and to commemorate the founding year of the U.S. Air Force in 1947. Additionally, it acknowledges the support of the 47th President of the United States, Donald Trump, who played a pivotal role in advancing the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) program. Retcon.

Will the U.S. ever again fight a First World enemy that has a radar system?

That's the only reason we'd need a "stealth" plane, isn't it?

Even the Houthies have radar, but hey, Stealth is all about deterrence.

BREAKING: Trump, Hegseth announce next generation F-47 fighter jets

"Nothing in the world comes even close it, and it’ll be known as F-47."

On Friday, President Donald Trump, alongside Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, announced the next generation of fighter jets for the United States Air Force, designated as F-47.

"I’m thrilled to announce that, at my direction, the United States Air Force is moving forward with the world’s first sixth-generation fighter jet," Trump said, adding that "nothing in the world comes even close it, and it’ll be known as F-47."

"The generals picked the title and it’s a beautiful number, F-47, it’s something the likes of which nobody has seen before. In terms of all of the attributes of a fighter jet, there’s never been anything even close to it, from speed to maneuverability to what it can have to payload."

He said that this has been in the works "for a long period of time," and the Air Force, after "rigorous and thorough competition" between top American aerospace companies, will be awarding the contract to Boeing. Senator Eric Schmitt said that the new jets would be produced in the state of Illinois.

It's been a long time coming.
Two important points:

1) If you've been paying attention over the last few years, you'd have seen the future belongs to vast swarms of smart, cheap, deadly drones, not a small number of multibillion-dollar aerial targets with "F" or "B" in front of their numbers. The Trump Administration doesn't govern, it cosplays. They're like battleship admirals in an aircraft-carrier war.

2) If DUI hire Pete Hegseth discloses the targets these expensive toys are flying to, how long do you think they'll survive?

The US should announce plans on the drawing board for the 7th Gen fighter with a pic of a flying saucer. That should keep the Chinese and ruskies busy for a while.
