Book Porn

this counts for me too, i've pared my collection down to +/- 800

(the essentials)

You're hardcore. I recently got rid of one of my sofas to make room for another massive bookcase. There's not an inch to spare on it already. Next it's my bed...

Time for a bigger house.

My surgically repaired hernia will not allow me to participate in moving you. Far too many book boxes.

One of the few times I can understand getting rid of books is if they're books on tax law.

I came home from work one day many years ago and found my 18 month old daughter pushing around a pile of my mint condition, never opened, hardbacks...all my favorite authors... She had them in a babystroller as a counterbalance while she learned to walk.

I went into a rage and took them all away and safely stored them...

After thinking about it for a few days I took them all to a used bookstore and sold them. They obviously meant to much to me at that time...I didn't even care about my daughter learning to walk...

Well...technically and all...

I have come to terms with my lack of parenting instincts and urges. I love my kids but a great father, I was not.

I happily have none. Never have. I remember when my best mate brought her then 3 or 4 year old round to mine. He was in my room full of books and I made him stand right in the middle and warned him if he pawed any of them he would die violently.

I'm happy to say now at 15 he's quite fond of me, though still a little nervous, but he loves books, treats them with respect and always shows me his new ones.

Mine are both grown (eh....19 & 21) and mostly on their own...they turned out okay despite my selfish ways.
