The “border bill” didn’t fall. Biden’s supplemental spending bill failed. It failed because despite his 36 years in the Senate, Biden didn’t remember how Congress works. He insisted that aid to Ukraine, Israel, and the border, (an issue that Congress has failed to resolve for decades) be linked together. Putting 2 Democratic senators and one GOP senator in a closed room to secretly negotiate a a comprehensive bill packed objectionable provisions the GOP would never accept, releasing on a Sunday night, and expecting it to pass just days later was nuts.

The border bill was more of a Ukraine bill.

He can shut it down temporarily. The right wing dream of completely shutting down between ports of entry permanently will never happen..

The Senate bill would've shut it down for an extended period of time automatically on day one. It would also have expedited deportations and severely restricted catch and release.

Either they can claim asylum or they can't. The current law says they need to have their case heard in immigration court. Biden has enacted a policy that claims be submitted online prior to getting here. The Senate bill gave more power to CBP and border immigration officials to swiftly deport those who are rejected.

Either you accept that legal asylum claims happen outside of ports of entry or you reject actual reality. Any law or policy that stipulates otherwise has been struck down. Putting a cap on that and increasing border patrol will reduce those claims and will survive court challenges.
