Border Bill Is National Disaster

What was wrong with Trump's plan of shutting off the border completely and having fire trucks to lift all the cattle over the wall so they could drink from the river?
Even when he shut the border down, asylum claims continued outside of ports of entry.

Let's deal with some facts. The majority of those "children" were teen males (and still are). Our law, and society, allows them to be counted as "children" but they are anything but "children." They are very much street wise autonomous individuals. We will be dealing with them under our criminal laws soon enough. There were some pre-teens in the mix but they were the minority.
This is literally addressed in the bill that you didn't read. Fuck off, moron.

Trouble is, Trump never did shut the border down, it's an impossibility. A few hundred miles of fence followed by endless miles of desert is all it ever was. Most drug & people smuggling happens at official crossing points, because walking for weeks across desert carrying everything you own is not easy.

But when people claim that their priority is border control (but not quite yet), it's BS.

Yep, and that's my point. People will find a way in and our laws will always allow refugees to claim asylum.

So, at the end of the day it comes down to who looks worse in the eyes of the voting public, and who can campaign more effectively on the clusterfuck,

🤔

It’s apparent that the "republicans" look worse, and President Biden can campaign more effectively on the clusterfuck.

Either you accept that legal asylum claims happen outside of ports of entry or you reject actual reality. Any law or policy that stipulates otherwise has been struck down. Putting a cap on that and increasing border patrol will reduce those claims and will survive court challenges.

5,000 a day is insane. HR2 would have prohibited the processing of immigrants arriving between points of entry.

With 5 Democrats voting against advancing it and 4 Republicans voting in favor of advancing it. A bipartisan execution.

BabyBoobs is a lying, gaslighting POS.

FORTY FOUR "republicans" voted AGAINST the bill. Only five "republicans" voted to pass it.

FORTY FOUR Democrats voted to PASS the bill. Only five Democrats voted against the bill. (And one of those votes was Chuck Schumer’s switch to a “no” vote for procedural reasons)

TWO Independents voted to PASS the bill. (King and Sinema), one Independent, (Bernie Sanders) voted against it.

😑

"republicans" killed the bill that would have helped the immigration and border situation, that supported Ukraine’s fight against Russia, that supported Israel’s fight against Hamas, etc, that supported Taiwan’s readiness to defend against a potential Chinese invasion, and that supported humanitarian aid.

The "republicans" own this failure to govern, and to pass legislation that addresses the national security interests of the United States.

Full stop.

Pretty much. So much for Schumer's dream of blaming it all on the republicans.
Republicans cried about border security
Republicans tanked border security.

Schumer's perspective is irrelevant to reality.
HR2 isn't a serious bill. The Democrats literally caved on a shitload to produce the bill.

Republicans don't want to govern... They want to put on theatrical politics.

But at least they made a bill that tells everyone Trump wasn't an insurrectionist and vacated the speakership once.

Quoting this for posterity.

Because I GUARANTEE, the usual suspects (We all know who; no names mentioned) are, somehow, STILL going to be blaming Biden and the Democrats for the border situation and for failing to address national security concerns, despite the glaring FACT that it was, in fact, the Republicans at the behest of Trump, that blocked it.

I honestly believe the message / reality of "republicans" being to blame for most of the problems in D.C, etc, is starting to break through to most Americans.

At some point, the truth becomes obvious to even the lowest information voter.

Of course, most voters are low-information voters. That's who the Republicans are targeting...all they'll know is that the Republicans are screaming at the top of their lungs about how Biden failed to secure the border.

Just to add:

The Democrat’s share of the "lift " to pass the BIPARTISAN bill in the senate was THIRTY votes. - The Democrats provided FOURTY FOUR votes.

The "republican’s" share of the "lift" to pass the BIPARTISAN bill in the senate was THIRTY votes.- The "republicans" provided FOUR votes.

Do the math.

I know that ^ is a heavy "lift" for the MAGAts here on the PB, but give it a shot.

If any of you math challenged MAGAts need help, a decent, intelligent, American, etc, would probably be willing to tutor (school) you.

If congress, the senate in particular, is serious about patching up our immigration laws, and they should be, especially the democrats, they should send a clean bill not tied to other foreign aid packages to the house. (Upwards of 70% of the US population are pissed off about what's happening at the border.)

Further, the various politicians need to go before the public and make their case pro or con concerning the flood we're experiencing at the border. None of the "it's the 'right' thing to do" bullshit. I CAN make a case for increased immigration to this nation, I CANNOT make a case for uncontrolled and illegal immigration.

Here are some interesting facts regarding asylum seeker's.
Oh look, Ish wants to talk facts. Let's do it.

Republicans wanted this bill and didn't think democrats would sign it without Dreamer protections. But democrats are actually trying to solve the problem unlike trumplicans who just want a election issue.

And while every moronic mouth breathing right winger is crying saying that it allows 5000 undocumented immigrants a day, it doesn't say that at all.

But why would they care about being honest when blatant lying and misrepresentation are keeping their ignorant supporters angry.

You're full of shit and mixing apples with oranges.

I didn't specify a party regarding making a case to the public, you are. As far as I'm concerned both parties are culpable. You'd best step out of you're ever shrinking partisan shoes.

The problem is actually quite simple from a political standpoint, Texas has turned the issue at the border into a shit show in an election year. This "bi-partisan" effort on the part of certain politicians to leverage the issue in a massive spending bill has fallen on deaf ears as far as the public is concerned and the democrats are left without the excuse that it failed on purely partisan grounds (although I have no doubt they will anyway).

Whether you like it or not that albatross is still hanging around the democrats neck and the options to turn that around are diminishing daily.

Do you ever read anything you pop off about or just fling poo like the caged monkey you are?
I actually read it. I also know that ALL financial prognostications from this administration have been revised downwards. Further the notion that a 14% revenue increase based on an unskilled labor force increase is unrealistic. What is pointedly NOT addressed in the report is the increase in social services expenditures due to this illegal immigration.

Historically it won't be until the second generation of the immigrants that the nation begins to see a net increase in productivity (tax base). This will reach optimum in the third generation. Meaning that we won't see any reasonable returns for 20 years, the directors report is 10 years short.

The report also neglects to address the impact on our penal systems. Currently approx. of all alien inmates in the federal prison system is 26%, within the state systems the numbers vary but within some states (CA, AZ, NM, and TX.) that number approaches 70%. Nor does it address the financial losses to the public at large due to those that are caught and retained let alone those that are released or not caught at all.

Horse shit.
