Boston Beach Party!

I took a test once that was specifically designed to test how well you took tests. It had a variety of miltiple-choice questions which were impossible to know the correct answer as they were all made up. The test was specifically designed with flaws that good test writers avoid, such as questions that referred to similar questions, and helped to narrow down choices, or just flat answered other questions.

Cool test. I scored something like a 98% on it. This caused me to really wonder if I did well in school because I was smart, or just because I tested really well.

Haha thanks so much! Always good to have another happy listener.

Your probably getting WERS in your car, thats the College's official station. WECB is the web-only campus station.

(WECB kicks WERS' ass, by the way)

*laugh* Yes. You're right. Although I don't keep track of frequency or call sign, I just keep flipping until I find something I like. I'm also quite possibly the most spastic tv watcher/remote control handler you'll ever come across.;)

Probably both.

That Kraftwerk clip is priceless, how cool. I love the face of a crowd with no prior point of reference at all.

Have you seen the film "The Transatlantic Feedback" about The Monks?

Have never even heard of them. When I search through German music I only pay any real attention if its in German. The vast majority of German stuff in English is just a formula attempt.

I will have to check these guys out.

Fascinating. Very Velvet-Underground kind of thing in a way, overlapped the high art world in interesting ways, they were managed by some very savvy advertising men. They're actually American, they were servicemen stationed in Germany. When I think about this being '66 it's pretty amazing.

You scare me.
You're like the Lester Bangs of Lit.

other lit poster who would be the Lester Bangs of Lit.

Well we can't all be Lester Bangs. Someone has to be Christgau and someone has to be Greil Marcus or whatever.

My contribution for the "often sampled funk of the past"

Punk before there was such a thing. I'll leave the rest Syd.

Hippies who were angry, not mellow, pissed off not peaceful. Like Homburg said, punk before punk existed. They kicked ass harder then anyone else at the time.

And just Syd is fine, I don't think I'm enough of a Syd Barrett fan to adopt his name

Hope the test went ok anyway.. :rose:

I don't know what's best. The sixties aesthetics, the incredibly young John Cale, the stupid questions, or the 80 buck prize, or actually hearing this thing which you read about any time you read about Cale.

Wow, yeah, that was a hilarious show. I've seen a few episodes. And really 80 buck prize, wow. There was a show on Nickelodeon when I was a kid that was a total rip off of I've Got A Secret, called Figure It Out. It was pretty much the same show except every once in a while one of the panelists would get "slimed"
