As a man who spent much of his early life in a speedo, I would have to weigh in in favor of boxers. Speedos are great for swimming in competition, but I wouldn't be caught dead in one now. As for a thing...WHY? The damn things can't be comfortable, especially if you are a typical guy with any amount of hair on your butt.
I'm Native American, with little hair north of the waist, but below...you could probably shear me twice a year and knitt yourself a nice sweater. A thong in that mess would just be painful.

My wife and I both have sexy lingerie that we wear. Mine includes various styles of silky underwear, including thongs (yes, the kind made for men).

I don't wear them all the time, but I will put them on when I know we're going to be having some action later on. Wearing any kind of sexy underwear makes me feel more erotic and keeps my mind on what's going to happen later.

I'm not sure why more men don't wear them, nor do I see any connection with male thongs and gay men. I'm as straight as an arrow but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy the feeling of a thong.

I have all of them and wear them all.

Working in a factory I much prefer boxer briefs for the package support and because boxers (cotton or satin/silk) just make things bounce around too much or get trapped by jeans if at the wrong angle and man, factories get hot so the boxers can make you feel that bead of seat rolling down your ass or thigh.

At home I enjoy walking around with boxers on. I like cotton. It feels much freer to have my shit hanging and less constricted. Tho I occasionally where the boxer/briefs if I just feel like staring at my package now and again.

Thongs/G-strings I also have several. I especially like a pair of satin see-thru ones my g/f bought me awhile back that have velcro on each side. I occasionally wear these when I'm feeling a bit on the playful side in bed with her. They can be torn open in about 5 seconds. Eureka!

If I didn't work in hot conditions I would go commando more often. Usually I only sleep naked after a long night of sex and I just don't feel like getting anything back on b4 I nod off.

p.s. I also like both cotton and silk pajamas from time to time when it's cold in the house.

for hot weather a bikini style brief to keep it from getting too sticky, made of a light breathable fabric. When its cold or just lounging around the ranch a fly less boxer/brief or trunk made of cotton or a lightweight spandex always feels good. Guys no matter your body type (thongs excepted) wear what feels good. We don't have to wear heavy white undies or boxers that bunch up anymore, Hell, even the local Wal Mart has options.
