I must be one of the few asians to dislike red bean. It's not so bad in pastries but as a soup or on its own I find it pretty disgusting.

No no, not the sweet red beans like in moochi, I don't eat that either. This is more like a condiment, fermented soybean powder and the red color is hot pepper. You cook with it or we eat it usually with red leaf lettuce and rice. This picture gives a better idea.
