Oh. One question before I go.
I went to a baby shower yesterday. It was good, but I don't get the older crowd and the married for more than a few years couples. It doesn't have to be a baby shower. It could be anything from weddings to baby's month old celebration. I always get the same question. While I understand why they're asking, I wonder if they know it makes me or any other single person feel bad.
"So. When are you going to get married/get a girlfriend?"
I'm not sure if it gets asked in other cultures. It seems to carry an ominous tone the way it is asked in the Chinese Culture. Do they understand that?
I mean one time I got asked so much, I said to my cousins that was last to ask - "Oh crap! Thanks for reminding me. I left her in the apartment. Be right back!" - and ran out of the room as if to get "her". They laughed and got the idea (never asked again) but I can't really say that to the 'older' generation.
Actually, I guess it's more of a comment of frustration than a question. Oh well.

"You know. I know but there's so many that when I tried to run a lottery to see who gets to come with me - they are all fighting so hard that they're still fighting. So I came alone." - Vic imaginary answer #1
"But the cost of the gift will have to double!" - Vic imaginary answer #2
"Oh. She'll be by in a few minutes. After she's done washing and pressing all my work clothes for the week." - Vic imaginary answer #3 and awaiting the horrified look.
"I don't know. Let's ask her. She's under this table." - Vic imaginary answer #4 and it brings a naughty smile to my face.
"You know someone that's willing to date me?" - Vic burps his imaginary answer #4.

But answers instead:
"No no. No girlfriend yet." - Vic answers in defeat #1.
"I'm waiting for (friend/cousin's name [younger mind you]) to get married first." - Vic answers in defeat #2.
Burst out laughing. (Although some may say it sounds like crying.) - Vic answer in defeat #3.
